Before you know it, it’s September – Autumn. Hasn’t the year flown by so far?!
Coffee Morning A huge thank you to everyone involved in the Coffee Morning held in aid of the Village Hall.
We hope that everyone hasn’t suffered too much with the heatwave. It’s “good” to see that the weather has reverted to the usual during August.
It was wonderful to see so many of you at this event. A grand total of £340 was raised from the sale of the bacon rolls and bucks fizz together with the raffle, childrens stall and produce.
Please spare a thought for those who live by the using the land for farming and livestock and that they can recover for the rest of the year.
Steve Valentine An amazing evening’s entertainment by a very talented guy. All of those who came along sang along with the popular repertoire of songs. Many have requested a return visit.
Villager News We are very sad to hear that Eric Palmer (St Andrew’s Close) passed away on 21st August. Both the editors have benefitted from his kind donations of plants, particularly Crocosmia “Lucifer”, for our gardens.
The Waterfall
Our deepest condolences are sent to Jill and the rest of the family at this sad time.
Huge congratulations to you all.
A 3-piece band performing their first ever gig in front of an audience of about 50 people in the Village Hall playing a mix of music from Oasis to Stone Roses and some of their own material.
Deadline for articles To avoid disappointment, please don’t forget the deadline for submission of any articles for The Eagle is the 20th of each month. Anything submitted after this date can’t be included in The Eagle.
We are sure you will all join the Editors in wishing Sue HamerMoss and her dogs a warm welcome following her move into Ivy Cottage. You can read her story on page 7. We hope you all will be very happy here in Yarnscombe.
Don’t forget The Eagle is a community newsletter with the content being supplied by you, the residents of Yarnscombe.
