The Eagle
APRIL 2018
Yarnscombe Newsletter by the Community for the Community Note from the Editors Well, Spring certainly made its presence felt in March didn’t it. Just when we thought it was getting “warmer” and drier …… Storm Emma and the Beast of the East hit us ……. twice. Freezing temperatures for the first week and strong winds brought the wind chill down to -13°C (anything less than 0°C is too cold!!) and of course the snow. The first snow for many of us since 2010! Until mid-month, more snow – the mini-beast!! Whilst it all looked very picturesque and it was great fun for the children in the village making snowmen, the roads in the village were treacherous and impassable. But we all need to thank Dan Farr, the parish Snow Warden who certainly “earned his keep” over those couple of weeks clearing the roads so we could all get out of the village and back into civilisation.
Villager News Managing to get into the village are our new neighbours who have recently moved into: ❖ Symondsdean ❖ Primrose Cottage

Another new resident has arrived at Rose Acre. Congratulations to Steph and Stephen Jubb on the safe arrival of Daphne who was born during March. An early Easter means a long weekend and two bank holidays. Good Friday is 30th March and Easter Monday is on the 2nd April. This means that all rubbish and recycling will be collected a day late during that week. All residents covered by Torridge District Council will have received notification that from 4th June our rubbish collections will be changing. The main difference will be that our black bags will be collected fortnightly.
Don’t forget The Eagle is a community newsletter with the content being supplied by you, the residents of Yarnscombe.
