Misinterpreting Paintings Looking at Miro’s paintings “The Beautiful Bird Revealing the Unknown to a Pair of Lovers (1941)” as a source for architectural inspiration, I tried to translated it to be architectural spaces. Different materials, such as Concrete, piano wires and wood, were tested in the process.

Buffalo Aquarium

Site

Water Drop The site is located at downtown Buffalo, = and the main program is aquarium Tension and secondary program is IMAX. The proposal is to design a tall iconic building to better integrated into the skyline of downtown buffalo. A giant water tank takes form of water drop at the center of building. The tank is important part Transportation = Dynamic of the design. In elevation, visitors will see it from miles away. In plan and section, it functions as a fragile spatial threshold between the Aquarium and I MAX. The water at the upper portion of tank is saltwater and lower portion is fresh water. This inspiration came from the tension created by saltwater meets freshwater at Saint Lawrence gulf. Icon Building = City Billboard

Artists Apartment The apartments have three separated residential bars and are connected by cross bridges. Each of the residential bar forms a small community. The cross bridges function as the main corridors. The apartment is designated for local artists. Each of the apartment unit has a living space and a retail space. The retail space is only available to public on selective days for the purpose of safer living and working environment. Each unit plan appears to be a “L” shape and two units form an “U” shape. The “U” shape plan allows social interaction between artists. The placements of cross bridges and egresses were thoughtfully designed to create a spiral circulation to benefit the retailers and consumers. noin to cietS celSlalW laW "0-'1="0 "6-1 '1/= 3"61/3 :setoN :sn etooitNacnif oiicte apcS ificepS ,SLEVEL,S LILAETVEERLTLAIASTR EO ROTLAF.S1ROOLF.1 :SNEHCT:ISKND EN HA CTSIK MO DO NR AHSTM AO BORHTAB balS eteb ra clnS oC ettesraccneorC p t"2 s1 acerp "21 otni tsacotln eintnsaahcc l'C en ' .nta nh occ '/Cw' .tnoc /w ;bals ;bals ;noitalus;no i id tiagliu rs"2 ni digir "2 ;gnitaeH;g ro no itlafeH tnrao idoalR f t"2 naidaR "2 ;gnihsini;fgentih er sc inniO fC et"e1rcnOC "1 SLEVEL S EH LE TVLELLAETH ATSLGLN AIL TA IEC S.G 2NILIEC.2 : : ;noitalus;no i id tiagliu rs"2 ni digir "2 ;draob m;u dsrpayogb "2 m/u1spyg "2/1 LIATER FLOIAETP EO RLFEO VN EE P.O 3LEVNE.3 :SLEVEL:SLEVEL ni tes ssn ailt ged s ests aa ll ug sndied te ax liufs"n 1i dexif "1 ;emarf m;uenmim ar uflamu "2n*i"m 6ula "2*"6 dna slendanpagsnlic ea nfapmu gnim ca uflAmunimulA ;detevir ;sdnertuetveirr smnurnuim teurlamunimula ;tnioj kl;utancioj kluac : SLEVEL: S GL NEIV VIELLTG ANSIR VIO LOTLAF.S3ROOLF.3 balS eteb ra clnS oC ettesraccneorC p t"2 s1 acerp "21 otni tsacotln eintnsaahcc l'C en ' .nta nh occ '/Cw' .tnoc /w ;bals ;bals ;noitalus;no i id tiagliu rs"2 ni digir "2 ;gnitaeH;g ro no itlafeH tnrao idoalR f t"2 naidaR "2 ;gnikced;G gn &iT kc"6 ed *"2 G&T "6*"2 SLEVEL S GL NEIV VIELLFG ONEIV PIO LLFEO VN EE P.O 4LEVNE.4 : : ;ssalg d;ests aa ll ug sndiegtn aildulsonFi g "1nidloF "1 dna slendanpagsnlic ea nfapmu gnim ca uflAmunimulA ;detevir ;sdnertuetveirr smnurnuim teurlamunimula ;tnioj kl;utancioj kluac revuol droeovW uo"4 l *d'2oo rW o "6 4*"'2 ro "6*"2 munimulamu on t id me ug la naohtrd eveo gnsalh er neavpo slenap ;.c.o ni5.;4 .c.,o emnai5 rf.4 ,emarf DEREVELDIE TN RA EV CEFLO ITN SR AO CO FL OF.S5ROOLF.5 : SECAPS : SLE IA CTAEPRS LIATER 'C' .tnoc 'o Ct' .d tn eo dc leowt edtead lp leewsa eB talp esaB ;lennahc;lennahc ;dedlew ;edbeudtlleewetes bu"6 t *l"4 eets "6*"4 ;noitalus;no i ittfaolS us"6 ni tfoS "6 eht no tieshk tcneo d tlia stk ec me"d 2/l1at1em "2/1 1 ;sebut le;e stes but leets ;noitalus;no i id tiagliu rs"2 ni digir "2 ;gnikced;G gn &iT kc"6 ed *"2 G&T "6*"2 dna slendanpagsnlic ea nfapmu gnim ca uflAmunimulA ;detevir ;sdnertuetveirr smnurnuim teurlamunimula ;tnioj kl;utancioj kluac

Living Learning Quarter Site Plan

In the contemporary scene, universities have to compete with many off campus housing options to attract students to campus residential settings. To do this, they have to provide a unique experience to add value to on campus living. This living learning quarter examines options for a new campus residential building at UB that can complement existing options and provide a more urban living environment close to the academic core on the North Campus.
