Layer 1: Lighting to choreograph and experience (Wayfinding) In this restaurant, it is a small space, so that people do not need to worry about lost in the space. However, it is very interesting to observe that the restaurant put some small lamps at the corners on the floor to define the edge of the pathways. Layer 2: Lighting to define mood and ambiance Overall, in this ramen bar, lightings in the whole space are warm and bright, but not overwhelming. - The density of lighting in the dining area is not high, so space can perfectly breathe, but it is high in the kitchen so chefs can focus on their food. - The color of lightings are orange in the dining space, which providing customers a nice cozy dining space very like at home. While lighting color is white in the kitchen, chefs can make sure the quality of the dishes. - The textures of lightings in the space are also varied. There are indirect lightings from the drop ceiling to the higher ceiling, direct recessed lightings on to the tables and chandeliers with light bulbs. Layer 3: Lighting to create accent and visual interest In this ramen bar, there are many pictures hanging on the wall, Japanese collections hanging on the wall or placing on the cabinet. This restaurant actually assigned appropriate lighting to emphasize these collections and catching people’s eyes on them.
