忘不了 As har cheong gai is a local street food, I wanted a local name that was easy to remember and came up with AH TAN. To put a modern twist on the nostalgic hawker food experience, I crafted an old-school hipster brand image for AH TAN. I also believed in creating unforgettable experiences for people and this vision for the company was translated via the slogan 忘 不 了 。

It all began with my brother suggesting the idea of selling fried chicken to me.

Midway through the journey, it dawned on me that both of us had very different goals in mind. My plan was to grow this into a very successful business in the shortest time possible, before pursuing my true passions with the financial gains. During the entire time, I was highly fixated on the end results and this began to take a toll on the partnership. Ever since I left, business has been better than before. So I guess, it’s a “wing-wing” situation for both of us ?

Jot down my thoughts

Inspired by the works of @janethecrazy, I recently rekindled my interests in scrapbooking and journaling. As the jotter book reminds me of what it is like to be a student again, I use these ideas to showcase my portfolio of artworks as a visual journal.

Don’t judge Me by my size. A miniature platter of Peranakan kueh has its beauty too. This also serves a reminder to myself that no matter what you do, someone will judge you for it.

Staying true to who you are and believing in yourself is what really matters.

Besides miniature art, I’m also currently exploring other artistic pursuits like sugar flowers, Peranakan beading and watercolour painting.

“Hologram”

I was feeling lost and didn’t know what is the best direction to reach my goals. To build my confidence, a friend suggested I create any artworks based on a chosen theme. This eventually led to the creation of a 3D jiu ceng gao (9 layer cake). Visit bit.ly/holokueh to enjoy the magic of this “hologram” kueh.

When I started on this mini project, I was rather nervous as I’m not really savvy with softwares. To be honest, I was rather surprised that I took delight in the process of designing this motion graphic.

With this experience, I became more certain about my next decision in life.

In the end, she became more than what she expected.

She became the journey, and like all journeys, she did not end, she just simply changed directions and kept going.
