A performance of Bach’s formidable Chaconne (arr. Busoni, from the Partita in D minor, BWV 1004), and music by Beethoven and Brahms, by the artist The New Yorker has described as “a pianist of clean grace and insight.”

A performance of Beethoven’s “Appassionata” Sonata and music by Schoenberg by the artist whose “pianism is always thoughtful, lyrical, lustrous” (The Washington Post).

Faculty pianist Boris Slutsky, who The Baltimore Sun has said plays “with intelligence, imagination and a sense of poetry,” and Eric Zuber, whose playing the Cleveland Plain Dealer has said is marked by “interpretive finesse and intensity,” perform a two-piano program featuring Rachmaninoff’s Piano Suites and Symphonic Dances, in celebration of the composer’s 150th birthday.

The legendary ensemble, which The Washington Post has said makes music with “a devotional ease,” performs works by Beethoven, Mendelssohn, Sarah Kirkland Snider, and George Walker as part of its farewell season.

A performance by the School’s acclaimed faculty quartet-inresidence, whose musicians, The New York Times has said, “seem to be listening to the same heartbeat.”

OCT 31 | QuaRTETTO Di CREmONa

A group of musicians who The Strad has said are “internationally renowned for their extremely mature and lyrical sound” perform music by Beethoven, Ravel, and Wolf.

A performance by the ensemble The Washington Post has called “a quintet of skilled and spirited musicians.”

The School’s faculty quartet-in-residence, which The Guardian has said shares “startling musical revelations,” appears in its second performance of the season.

A performance of music by Beethoven, Mozart, Reinecke, and Francaix by the ensemble the Dallas Morning News has called “technically superb” and “generously expressive.”

The celebrated period-instrument ensemble, led by guest director Aisslinn Nosky, performs a program called “Passions Revealed” featuring music by J.S. Bach, J.F. Fasch, Locatelli, Marais, Telemann, and Vivaldi.

Guest conductor Giancarlo Guerrero leads the orchestra in a performance of Lorin Maazel’s orchestral arrangement of Wagner’s epic Ring cycle, The Ring Without Words, whose “orchestration ... stands alone magnificently” (The New York Times).

Principal Conductor Peter Oundjian leads the orchestra in a performance of Valerie Coleman’s Umoja (Anthem of Unity), Adolphus Hailstork’s JFK: The Last Speech, and Joan Tower’s Concerto for Orchestra.

The orchestra, led by guest conductor Rossen Milanov, performs Smetana’s Overture to The Bartered Bride, Beethoven’s Fourth Piano Concerto, with soloist Hyojin Shin ’22MM ’23MMA, and Shostakovich’s moody Sixth Symphony.

The orchestra, led by conducting student Samuel Hollister ’18BA ’28DMA , with solo percussionist Michael Yeung ’22MM ’23MMA ’24AD, gives its annual performance in the School’s intimate Morse Recital Hall.

TiCKET saLEs

Tickets may be purchased at music-tickets.yale.edu, by calling 203 432–4158, or by visiting the YSM Box Office. Admission to many events is free and requires no reservations.

ExChaNgEs

Tickets may be exchanged for another event in the 2023–2024 season through May 7, 2024. Exchanges incur a $5 fee. Visit music.yale.edu/policies for more details.

CaNCELLaTiONs

We will make every effort to contact you if you have purchased tickets to a concert that is postponed or canceled. Visit music.yale.edu/policies for more details.

sTuDENT Rush TiCKETs

For the Oneppo Chamber Music Series, Horowitz Piano Series, and Ellington Jazz Series, free student rush tickets will be offered at the Box Office for students in college and K-12 with a valid ID. When available, tickets will be distributed starting 30 minutes before each concert. One ticket per ID, subject to availability. Yale Philharmonia concerts are free with student ID.
