Continued from page 2 He finances his research on the galaxies by running a tech consultancy When Brian Hart graduated from University of California at Irvine with a Ph.D. in astrophysics in 2008, he quickly realized a career as an academic researcher wasn’t for him. Funding for research was just too tight. But that didn’t mean he was giving up on cosmology, the scientific study of the structure and evolution of the Universe, in which he’d concentrated his Ph.D studies. Hart soon put what he’d learned to work for him as a Federal Scientist with U.S. Army Space and Missile Defense Command/Army Forces Strategic Command, working there from 2009 to 2010, and also served in the U.S. Army National Guard. He’s also been an adjunct professor of physics at Lipscomb University in the Greater Nashville area. Eager to fund his research so he could continue it, the veteran started xyLOGIX, a general software contracting corporation, in 2011, relying on a web of independent contractors.
