A Message From The President Welcome to Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine! We are excited for you to learn all about our program, which is designed to train 21st-century veterinarians who are well-trained, knowledgeable, skilled, and compassionate. Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine is a new professional program that will, upon successful completion, confer the Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) Degree. This new veterinary medical program will be co-located with the School of Medicine in Oranjestad, Aruba. This nonprofit focused university campus was started in 2004 by a charter from the government of Aruba who provides degree granting authority. The medical school is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM) and has received full accreditation for long-term clerkships by the New York State Education Department (NYSED). We are currently undergoing candidacy for accreditation by CAAM-HP, one of the leading accrediting bodies for international veterinary and medical schools. We have full expectation that while we are completing the accreditation process, you will have a path to practicing in the United States through the PAVE program. We will explain more about this program in further detail later in this book. A brand new residential campus, opened in September 2021, will be your home away from home in Aruba. This all-inclusive complex provides students with meals, transportation, and all the amenities you will need. This will include a theater-style auditorium, state-of-the-art classrooms, brand new teaching and research labs, seminar rooms, a new library, study areas for individuals, small groups, and large groups, and student lounges. We are looking forward to providing the best academic and residential veterinary school environments in the Caribbean! If you have any additional questions, please contact our admissions office at admissions@xusom.com or (516) 333-2224. We look forward to having you join the Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine Family!

Accreditation At Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine, we are unwavering in our dedication to upholding the highest academic standards in veterinary medical education, and we are committed to academic excellence. Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine is currently a candidate for full accreditation through the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and Other Health Professions (CAAM-HP).

PAVE Program Your path to licensing in the US & Canada The American Association of Veterinary State Boards (AAVSB) has created the Program for the Assessment of Veterinary Education Equivalence (PAVE®), a pathway for veterinarians who are graduates of international, non-accredited veterinary programs, to practice in the United States and Canada. This means that students who attend Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine while it is still undergoing the accreditation process with CAAM-HP and additional accreditation agencies can complete their clinical rotations in the US at one of our partner accredited veterinary programs, sit for the North American Veterinary Licensing Examination (NAVLE), and practice as a licensed veterinarian in the United States and Canada upon graduation.

One Health Focused Learning Environment At Xavier University School of Veterinary Medicine, our unique setup places both medical and veterinary schools under one roof, providing you with a learning environment firmly grounded in the One Health philosophy. Our approach goes beyond conventional boundaries, highlighting the interdependence of human, animal, and environmental health. Through cutting-edge coursework, comprehensive training, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we prepare you to tackle complex global veterinary medical challenges.
