About the Gold Book
Navigating college life can often feel overwhelming, with students frequently facing the challenge of finding their way through a complex maze of resources, services, and administrative processes. At Xavier, while there is a wide array of support available to ensure student success, the real difficulty lies in making these resources accessible and visible. Many students are unaware of the assistance at their disposal, which can lead to frustration, missed opportunities, and negative impacts on their academic performance and overall college experience.
"The Gold Book" is a strategic initiative designed to address this issue. Drawing inspiration from the historical significance of "The Green Book," which served as a vital guide for African American travelers during the segregation era, "The Gold Book" aims to be a comprehensive resource manual for Xavier students. Just as "The Green Book" provided essential information for safe and accommodating places, "The Gold Book" centralizes crucial information about campus resources, services, and administrative contacts. This makes it easier for students to quickly and efficiently find the help they need.
The guide will include detailed sections on academic support, personal and health resources, financial aid, administrative contacts, extracurricular activities, and career services. Each section is crafted to offer comprehensive information, contact details, and clear steps for accessing these resources. By consolidating this information into one easily accessible guide, "The Gold Book" reduces the time and effort students spend searching for support. This allows students to focus more on their studies and personal growth, ultimately contributing to a more informed, satisfied, and successful student body.
In essence, "The Gold Book" is a targeted effort to close the gap between students and the abundant resources available to them. By ensuring they have the support needed to thrive both academically and professionally, this guide plays a crucial role in enhancing the overall college experience at Xavier.

Transfer Students
Requirements
A student transferring from an accredited institution must present an official copy of his/her transcript from each college-level institution attended. A high school transcript and standardized test results (ACT or SAT) are required if the applicant has fewer than 24 semester hours of transferable credit. The transfer applicants must be in good standing with the institution or eligible to return to it. Students must submit a resume or statement of activities to account for extended periods of non-enrollment
GPA
Transfer admissions applications are subject to a GPA recalculation. Xavier University does not include the developmental course(s) in the recalculated GPA. Also, both the original and repeated grades of a failed course will be included in the GPA recalculation.
The University grants transfer credits only for courses in which the student has received a grade of "C" (2.00/4.00) or better and which are comparable to Xavier courses. Ordinarily, the grades of transfer courses are not computed in the Xavier GPA. Not more than one-half of the credits required for the degree may be transferred from a community and/or junior college.
Tier 1 3.75+ GPA
$8,000
Tier 2 3.50 - 3.74 GPA $7,0000
Tier 3 3.25 -3.49 GPA $6,000
Tier 4 3.0 - 3.24 GPA
$4,500
Transfer evaluations will be available 2 weeks after being accepted to Xavier University of Louisiana for domestic transfer students.
The University will confer a degree only after the applicant has fulfilled the requirement of at least 25% of course credit in residence. Eighteen hours of the 25% must be in the major with a grade of "C" or better in each course and nine hours must be in the minor. At most 50% of transfer credit can be fulfilled from community college credits.
Transfer of Credits
Transfer credits are evaluated after a student is admitted. Credits are accepted only from regionally accredited institutions, with a minimum grade of "C" (2.0/4.0), and must be comparable to Xavier courses. Transfer course grades do not affect the Xavier GPA. No more than half the credits required for a degree can come from a community or junior college.
To graduate, students must complete at least 25% of their credits at Xavier, including 18 hours in their major (with a grade of "C" or better) and 9 hours in their minor. A maximum of 50% of the total transfer credits may come from a community college.
Courses are evaluated individually, and an official credit determination will be provided. Upon arrival, students will meet with an academic advisor to plan their coursework.
For more information, contact the registrar’s office at regis@xula.edu or visit them on the 5th floor of Xavier South. The Office of Student Affairs can be reached at studentservices@xula.edu or at extension 7359, located in University Center, Suite 305B.
Transcripts
For faster service, Xavier University has authorized the National Student Clearinghouse to provide transcript ordering via the Web. You can order transcripts with this service using any major credit card. Transcripts are issued at a cost of $5.00 per transcript.
Please note: if you have a hold on your student record, you can still submit a transcript request. You must resolve the hold(s) within 30 days of your request otherwise your transcript order will be cancelled. As long as your hold(s) is resolved within those 30 days, your transcript will be processed according to the order type and delivery time frame you selected. The fee for your transcript order will be charged to your payment account once the order is processed.
Ordering instructions are listed below:
o Requirements to Complete Order - Major credit/debit card, email account and signed consent.
o Select the "Start" button to proceed.
o You will then be guided to indicate who will be receiving the transcript you are ordering. In certain cases, a FERPA Waiver for Transcripts may be required. If it is, you will be guided to complete the waiver information in the next screen.
o Next, you will be able to select the delivery options. Pricing for your selection will be listed.
o After reviewing and editing or approving your recipient selection, you will be asked to enter in your payment information.
o Last, you will need to complete a consent form for the release of your educational records. If you choose the paperless method, you will be guided through the electronic signature process. You can also choose to download, complete, and either fax or email the consent form to the National Student Clearinghouse (please note that your order will not be processed until this consent is received).
o Once your consent is complete, you will receive emails and/or text messages from the National Student Clearinghouse confirming your order. This receipt will include information on how to track your order.
If you need help or have questions about the National Student Clearinghouse’s transcript ordering service, contact them via e-mail: transcripts@studentclearinghouse.org or phone 703742-7791.
