VIRESCENCE 01

According to a study in mid-March 2020, Savannah has been listed as the top ten metropolitan areas most at risk of job losses in the United States, where 24.7 per cent of the workforce are employed in industries most at risk from the global coronavirus pandemic. And it is possibly because Savannah is a highly tourist concentrated city.
Savannah is one of the oldest cities of Pre-independence America located on the South-East coast, with numerous

historic landmarks and city squares. It attracts numerous visitors across America and the world each year.
The global pandemic has changed our lifestyle drastically, and will continue to reshape our society including the way how we communicate and interact with each other every day. Thus the need for reconsidering how architecture and interior structure contribute to a positive as well as efficient way for our future in providing not only a comfort and
functional environment, but also promote well being for our society as a whole.
A set of form experiment process that I keep record during concept development phase using Rhino 3D. The main structure is formed inspired from classical elements such as arches or dorm while incorporating modern organic shapes inspired from plants.

SAVANNAH

PRELIMINARY ANALYSIS

Ever since the rapid spread of COVID-19, the world has been undergoing a drastic shift from regular social life to minimal social interaction due to the lockdown. While still struggling with the pandemic and its numerous variants, our society now desperately need to recover from its isolation.

Symmetry
Convey a sense of monumentality by bring a close reference to the tradition. Moreover, it fits perfectly with the original city layout as well as the style of my site choice, the Forsyth Park.
Green Safety
Due to the pandemic, we have to think about safety issues, such as how to maximize hea lth safety while maximizing audience interation with the building.

WOUND CAVITY 02

The site is in Hartford, Connecut, in the abandoned ruin of the former dominant force in the gun-making industry—Colt Armory, which manufactured the majority of firearms in the world. Especially during the American Civil War, Colt’s factory was a crucial supplier of firearms to the Union Army, boosting significantly production and innovation.
Despite its production miracle and its importance in U.S. history, with each firearm created every day, it also inevitably led to casualty and a disastrous memory of division and violence in society. Furthermore, the stirring debate of abuse of school shootings and domestic violence significantly increased due to the possession of firearms. We must face such a dilemma and possibly rethink the consequences of firms in our society.
Hence, though it was initially devised to be an anti-gun memorial museum, its controversy and benefit remain unclear, and I proposed a more neutral stance of the museum featuring both the production miracle, its contribution to winning the Civil War, as well and its massive casualty and social division led by it.

THEMES

COLL AGE

COLLAGE CONCEPT
The main idea of the firearm exhibit is to explore the multifaced cultural and historical significance of guns in America, examining their role in statebuilding and national identity, their representation in popular culture and art, and various ways in which they are remembered and memorialized by individuals and communities.

The entire building extension project took inspiration from the shape of the Colt Single Action Army, also know as the ‘Peacemaker’. While the interior key installation elements took inspiration from the cavitation effect as a bullet enters the body, creating a cavitation, or expansion of the surrounding tissue.

MONUMENTS 03

Savannah, Georgia, the largest city and the county seat of Chatham County, is steeped in a rich and memorable history. As the first colonial and state capital of Georgia, it has witnessed numerous wars, man-made or natural disasters, and the loss of many lives.
Location 1: River Street, near the Savannah River.
Purpose: In 1893, the Sea Islands Hurricane triggered a tsunami that killed thousands of people, which is one reason Savannah became a ghost town. The theme of this museum is "drowning." The main colors are black, white, and gray, and the secondary main color is blue (symbolizing sea water).
Location 2: In the middle of Forsyth Park.
Purpose: Here is a small building with interior space embedded in Fort's main building. The theme here is "urban murder," various examples of bizarre deaths or shots in the early days. Based on the primary color black and white gray and the auxiliary main color red.
Location 3: Next to the historical cemetery in the urban area.
Purpose: Those buried here died in the war, whether it was the Civil War or the War of Independence. This is the theme of "war". The primary color is black and white gray, and the secondary primary color is darker yellow (symbolizing soil).

Used the local memory of savannah to create a series of monumental architectural installations which cherishing the memory of the past and dead.

Located in Providence, Rhode Island, the RISD Museum has a prolonged history. It was established in 1893 as one of the most prominent private collections nourishing the East Coast, an affiliation of the prestigious design school RISD. It had witnessed the past, endured the present, and was about to envision the future.
Each era has its taste, from the colonnade of Classical Antiquity to the towering Gothic cathedral of the Middle Ages, the flourishing domes and arches of the Renaissance, and the flamboyant decoration of the Baroque period. We have already witnessed the continuity of modernism in our architectural style to the present day. But what will be the
style that defines the future? The future of the RISD museum is still yet to be discovered. This renovation project will help the RISD Museum envision the future.

FABRIC OF LIFE 05

TThe site, an abandoned townhouse in the heart of Savannah, Georgia, is set to undergo a remarkable transformation. Our client, the versatile artist and designer Igshaan Adams, will soon have a vibrant home and studio space.
We were asked to design a sweet home and studio workspace combined to fit his needs as a young artist.

CONCEPT
The notion of “Fabric of Life” roots deeply in the extensive use of nature materials in the forms of woven facrics to create a space that draws close relationship with nature from whcih it is inspired.
The goal of it is to fabricate a space which is both cozy to live in and capable of stimulating inspiration of our clien’s work life.
The space will exmphasize the use of natural materials found in our client’s hometown that are unique to him and his own culture, and hence generate a feeling of connection between his textile work and nature.
