Human Clock is a half-man-half-machine, that reconnects with horological traditions for public space, where clocks are seen as major works of art combining technical and artistic process. For centuries, clocks were at the heart of any given community : they would stamp out the hours of the day, measure a lifetime from baptism to grave, and alarm inhabitants of approaching dangers.

A great number of European cities (Prague, London, Strasbourg and Venice, being the most famous) are home to clocks with scientific, technological and artistic ingenuity, acting as symbols of power and supremacy.

Clocks are often placed in the very centre of a town, where they overlook public squares and turn them into places where citizens might meet and marvel at their beauty.

At the heart of a public place, the audience is invited to watch a series of performances every hour to assist the clockmaker in his constant struggle with time.

Smoke, ashes, vegetation, violent winds and other elements burst out of the clock, giving the clockmaker no rest as he looks to tame the hellish tempo of an allconsuming time unchained...

THE CUCKOO The Art of surprise!

Human Clock can be installed on a large public square, on a balcony or on a scaffolding (in the eventuality that a large public building is under construction or renovation).

Like a Cuckoo Clock, shutters open to reveal a different performance everyhour of the day, to mark human, organic and emotional rythms.

Many proposals can be imagined from this original and yet effective visual principle.

The writing of each scene can therefore evolve according to a specific site or a particular theme or subject.

Anything can can spring out of the clock, our limit is our imagination, our empathy and our belief that time is a social creation to be shared and acknowledged with care.
