The escalation of the sale and use of whoonga has been highlighted with grave concern and intensity that the norm on the streets is now part of everyday life. According to a very reliable source, the sale and use of whoonga in and around the Market Plaza area in Cato Street is disturbing. “I received phone calls from business owners operating at the Plaza and decided to investigate myself and I found it so easy because I was in my vehicle and

saw clearly how whoonga was being sold and used.” He added how surprised he was that they were doing it so openly. Before deciding to publish this article, the Xpress Times did inform the KwaDukuza SAPS about the situation. We informed the source and waited for exactly a month when the source came back and said the situation remained unchanged. On both occasions we asked the KwaDukuza SAPS to respond and Colonel Moses Faya said that 'this station did conduct a cordon and search for the same purpose.'

Another resident alluded to the High Ridge and Oceanview areas as having the “highest paying ratepayers” and demands that the KwaDukuza SAPS beef up patrol in their area. “We were told to employ private security guards but I feel that since we pay exorbitant rates and taxes we need the police to do their job,” they said. We asked the KwaDukuza SAPS for a response and at the time of going to press they could not respond.

daughter. The above resident said that “enough is enough” and now wants to turn the tide on criminals asking them to beware. “We will not accept these criminals entering our homes, invading our privacy and taking over our lives by beating us up; murdering, brutalising and traumatising those we love,” they said. They added that they are on high alert and asked criminals to beware.

The communities from the High Ridge and Oceanview areas are fed up with the sharp increase in crime. According to one resident, who does not want to be named, a police officer told them that there were “35 to 37” house intrusions. The Democratic Alliance (DA) took its campaign to Nonoti on Sunday, in a meeting whereby councillors urged voters to come out in their numbers and vote on Election Day, May 7 2014. According to Councillor Madhun Sobram Sing (DA election campaign manager), unemployment is a major issue with youths becoming restless and frustrated. “True freedom begins with jobs. Millions of South Africans have been let down by Government and its failure to create jobs. You can choose five more years of broken promises, or you can choose change. Change that brings real jobs. Let's do it Together for change Together for Jobs,” he said.

Mandlenkosi Dube is your average hard-working class man. Last Thursday, he received a call from his mother with bad and good news. She alerted him that his house which is near hers was broken into and his computer was stolen. Fortunately, her grandson spotted the incident and reported to her. She alerted her neighbours and they apprehended Mbuso Ndlela (18) and recovered the stolen property. He has been remanded in custody pending a bail investigation.

A 67-year-old step mother has had enough of her errant stepson. Thoko Mhlongo alleges that she was at her house when Bonginkosi Shandu (25) returned and began arguing with her. She had taken some of his clothing to replace their neighbor whose clothing he had allegedly stolen. He pushed her and stole R200.00 from her wallet and fled. Members of the community apprehended him and handed him over to the police. Shandu has been remanded in custody and is awaiting a decision by prosecutors on his actions.

Georgie Porgie has been reincarnated. Last week, a New Guelderland woman sent a 12year-old to her house for some items. Upon arriving at the premises, she sought permission from the woman's boyfriend to pick up the items. The man accompanied her to the kitchen where he closed the door behind him and forcefully kissed the girl who shoved him out of her way and fled. She reported the incident to the woman and her father. A reservist living in the area arrested the 25-year-old culprit and transported them to the police station. The man has been charged with sexual assault and is due back in court on 2 June 2014.

Hands of our children A family who had to move house to protect their 15-yearold daughter against the advances of a 25-year-old man have been betrayed by their daughter. It is alleged that the mother of the victim awoke and heard voices coming from her daughter's room. Realizing that it was the same man, she alerted her husband and the police were called in. Both were found naked in the room and the man was arrested. Parents and young girls are warned that in terms of the sexual offences act it is an offence for a male to engage in a sexual relationship with a female under the age of 16,

Currently out on bail on a murder charge, Siphesihle Mbuso Mkhize (34) is once again behind bars. According to his girlfriend, Mbalenhle Zulu, she was with friends when he approached her. He began kicking and slapping her and dragged her to his room. He allegedly beat her and had her locked in the room for two days. On Saturday morning, he locked her up and left. She seized the opportunity and shouted for help. His brother released her and she was treated at hospital and reported the incident. Mkhize was charged with assault and kidnapping. He has been remanded in custody and is due back at court on 15 May.

The president of the African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) and long standing Member of Parliament, the Honourable Doctor Kenneth Meshoe briefed local party supporters at a public meeting held on Friday, 25 April 2014 at the Lighthouse Family Church in Ballito. Accompanying Dr Meshoe was the deputy president of the ACDP, Councillor Wayne Thring and many members of the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) provincial executive committee. Local ACDP branches invited Dr Meshoe because they regard him as one of the strongest and forthright Christian voices in the nation. Dr Meshoe informed the crowd not to make the mistake of thinking that voting for a small party will be a wasted vote but highlighted the importance of making their vote count in the next upcoming elections. He stressed that what South Africa needs is not a strong opposition party but rather strong godly government. He emphasised that this is the only solution that can bring change to the state of the nation. Dr Meshoe shared with excitement his expectation of the party increasing its impact by securing more seats in the National Parliament. “People will be surprised with what is going to happen in these next elections,” he stated. “South Africa needs God like they have never needed God before. South Africans must take Archbishop Desmond Tutu's recent advice: 'South Africans must pray before they vote',” he added.

Maama Shanan THIS 1 DAY SPECIAL PRAYER FIXED ALL MY MARRIAGE AND MY FINANCIAL PROBLEMS IN 1 DAY

6 Years before I met this powerful spiritual healer, I was unhappy because my husband was cheating on me, our kids were always sickly and I had no money! I tried everything from healers, priests and gurus but nothing seemed to work for me. I wasted a lot of money. Luckily I saw two testimony in the local papers by an old man whose daughter had been saved from drugs and alcohol abuse. And a divorced lady had Re-United with her ex-husband after 9 years. I made a call to her and booked an appointment to meet her. I paid a R100 consultation fee and accurately read my fortune and told me all my problems before I spoke a word to her. She used a mirror to show faces of people were trying to pull me down. She performed a 1 day special prayer to clean me from bad-luck and also gave me powerful love crystals for indian and plus a special ring to fix my financial problems. Within 3 days of prayers. My husband confessed everything and asked for forgiveness. My kids are now healthy and I recently got a senior job promotion. Are you feeling totally helpless, heart broken and financially miserable? Is the situation getting worse? Don't loose hope! I have referred many people and she has delivered results for them within a few days.. She can help you too! Just call : 083 957 1059

From Dreams To Destiny

Thank you Maama Shanan for stopping me from committing suicide for something that can change, I was a successful businessman and I owned a lot of business and some of the people in my family were so jealous of my success. And they send black magic to me which made me to loose a lot of my business in just 6 months. My company was losing tenders and i became in so much debt that every one was asking what was happening to me. I reached the stage of desperation and suicide to me appears to be the only solution. My friend took me to Maama Shanan, and I believe in her and she performed a very special prayer and anointed me with anointing oil and holy water which cleaned me from negative forces, curses, bad luck, evil spirits and black magic. Now after 3 months. I have paid all my debts and I have got all that I had lost and my life is at top more than 5 years ago. I highly recommend others to visit Maama Shanan for all their problem. Mr shivani (51yrs) from Umhlanga

I visited Maama Shanan to clean me from curses, bad luck, and poverty. I never expected to win and use my talent but to my surprise I made it. My problem was to have luck. Being going to casino for 20 years without winning. But now Maama Shanan has helped me. She gave me powerful olive oil and palmstick for gambling machine, lotto, casino. And I entered a competition not expecting any thing really and to my surprise I won R50000. Two weeks later I was grand prize winner for a trip to France (valued at R220000) covering the city of Paris , Avignon and nice even Monaco. The latest win was R125000 from casino. I am definitely a winner thanks to Maama Shanan for opening new doors in my life. Rowan 59 years from Ballito

I was a jobless, single mother of two, who had just had a baby and my elder son was living with my relative due to my inability to take care of him. I stayed in a one room tree issue house by the government with my sister. After listening about Maama Shanan on radio. I visited her and she anointed me with all which cleaned me from all curses, bad luck, negative forces, fear and poverty. Now my life is a living testimony I have been freed from the bondage of poverty. Now I have my own beautiful house and my family has been re-united. Thanks God for using her servant Maama Shanan (Gugu Buthelzi 34 years from Tugela)

Thank you Maama Shanan for changing my life. (Mrs Anita from Stanger). My boyfriend lied that he loved only me. He took my money to spend with another woman. I found out that he was lying to me when I visited Maama Shanan to check for me and my boyfriend and to tell me whatever wrong he was doing. Now I am happy I have a new boyfriend. Thank you Maama Shanan. I also took my friend Asha who was having financial problems. He gave her a golden ring and her life has changed. Thank you so much. For anyone who wants to win at casino, lotto OR any gambling by use of a magic wallet.

Maama Shanan brought back my husband after 5 years gone. Kubashrie 35 years Stanger (my problem was to bring back my lost lover) Maama Shanan made my enemies to come and confess all the bad things they have done to me and to my family. Mr & Mrs V. What ever is keeping you apart as a family can be solved

My dearest friends and fellow African don’t waste time and money to take spiritualist who promise and they don’t deliver. I guarantee you Maama Shanan will never disappoint you. Only one visit to him and you will live smiling. I am Andrew, resident of Ballito. After listening and reading various testimonies of people about Maama Shanan in the papers. I believe in her. I booked an appointment and met with her at her beautiful temple. As I couldn’t stay in a relationship, who ever came in my life then something happens and she leaves me, it was like a bad omen on me, but after I saw Maama Shanan he touched my forhead, palms prayed for me and told me to wait for 7 days , in just 3 days my girlfriend knelt down and told me she is ready to ne my wife we made a great wedding and we are happy. Thanks to Maama Shanan

After 15 years of suffering. We now happily married and successful. For 15 years I lived in an abusive marriage. I booked an appointment to meet her at home. She performed a very special prayer which made my husband to kneel down infront of my kids and apologized to me all he had done to me. And now my husband treats me like a queen. And she also made my husband to stop drinking and our financial challenges have stopped. Do not suffer in vain Maama Shanan can help you I recommend others to visit her for their problems.

As Mr & Mrs B Govender of Stanger are testifying. For 4 years we used to live in miserable (very unhappy, depressed discomfort) marriage. My lovely husband had totally changed into something else. We could rarely talk at home. Something simple could cause a fight. After listening to various people about MAAMA SHANAN. I visited her and she told me that my husband was in a relationship with another women, and she showed the women in the mirror and the other women had put a spell on him to ignore me and our children. MAAMA SHANAN helped me to save my family and to separate my husband from the other woman and now we are happily married and I am more inlove with my husband. Thanks MAAMA SHANAN for all that you have done for me

A message from the grave of the troubled spirit of the late EV Mahomed

WHY YOU MUST VOTE You must VOTE because of the sacrifices made by many people, part of which is in the following brief history: I arrived in Stanger, Kwa Dukuza in the early 40's and opened a bookkeeping office in the then Couper Street, behind the butchery of the late Cassim Saib who, very generously emptied his store room for me to use as an office. In that situation I met Chief Albert Luthuli. I was greatly impressed by this man who I found to be very concerned by the plight of his people, due to the oppressive laws of the imposed colonial government. Soon Chief Albert Luthuli became the president of the ANC. I assisted him in any way I could, by having my office, home and car always at his disposal. He was one of those rare people, a school teacher by profession who had many admirable qualities. He was a committed Christian with high moral and ethical values and a very firm principled leader. Of course, the Nationalist party government passed every restrictive law they could. They also banned chief several times as well as placing him in jail. Many people came through my home including MB Yengwa (youth leader at that time of ANC) and of course, the late Nelson Mandela. Several other local people were involved including the late Goolam Suliman and the late E C Mahomedy. In this entire situation they also banned me, which banning order was signed by the then minister of justice, B J Vorster. When Chief Albert Luthuli died, apparently of being hit by a train, I could not attend the funeral of a life long friend because the magistrate refused my request to attend as I was a banned person. During my life the “special branch” of the SAP kept tabs on me, my house, my office, my car, raided my house several times at 4 o clock in the morning, took away any and all documents, never gave me citizenship, (I was classified “Stateless”) never issued a passport to me to go for “Haj”, tried to run Chief and I off the road, shot at my car and generally made mine and the people mentioned above's lives as difficult as possible. There were two highlights: 1. I was chosen to go for the discussion of the Freedom Charter in Kliptown in 1955, in which the main input was from the principles and policies penned by Chief Albert Luthuli, which he could not attend due to his banning order. 2. Chief Albert Luthuli was awarded the noble prize for peace which thrilled us and renewed our faith in mankind. After all the sacrifices that we made as well as thousands of other South Africans, are you still saying you are not going to VOTE? Let your conscience now decide for you. Yunus EV

“Julius, you and I are not 'revolutionaries'” Dear Julius Malema, I wronged people in this country two decades ago when I took part in heinous crimes. I have been trying to repay my debt to society for most of the years since. First, by successfully exposing corruption in jail then by speaking to millions of school kids across this country to dissuade them from a life of crime. I am now dedicating my life to Patriotic Alliance, which puts ending gangsterism, but more importantly the conditions that lead to gangsterism in communities, at the top of its agenda. We must get our young people into the mainstream economy. I see this open letter as part of repaying my many debts to society. If I did not speak up to warn the people of South Africa, but especially our youth, against you, it would mean I have no love for this country. Julius, you and I are not "revolutionaries". We both know that. We both shop at the same Louis Vuitton and Gucci shops. We both have watches worth hundreds of thousands. We wear more money on our wrists than a miner at Marikana will ever hold in his hands. This week you had the audacity to say that you wear Louis Vuitton to "inspire the poor". But the poor get nothing out of you wearing flashy clothes. For people like us to call ourselves revolutionaries is an insult to history's real revolutionaries. Patrice Lumumba is rolling in his grave. Thomas Sankara wants to get out of his grave and take back his words that have found their way onto your whisky-swilling tongue. If simply wearing a beret makes you a revolutionary then my mum and all her friends have been revolutionaries for far longer than you. You have spent more money at any of your own lavish parties than Kenny Kunene ever did. But Kenny never spent public money. It was his own money that he worked for openly. He never earned his money through misdirected tenders to shady companies that were hard to track. You bankrupted the ANC Youth League. You bankrupted Limpopo. You bankrupted yourself. Now you want to bankrupt what's left of South Africa. The difference between you and me is that you use politics to take money

from the poor. I give money to politics. I am not seeking a position through politics. My name is not even on any list. But you are trying to get to Parliament at all costs. Unlike what you may read about me, I never received any government money. I never received any tenders. I was never a beneficiary in any BEE deal. But you have never worked an honest day in your life to earn your own money. You don't know what that feels like. You don't know what it means. When the doors of government's treasury were slammed in your face you went immediately to the poor with your cap in hand, promising them the world, when you needed their money to pay for your tax problems. You are like a man who steals a cellphone and then goes back to his victim to ask for airtime. You exploit our people's genuine hunger for a better life. You want to nationalise the mines, but that will take huge amounts of public money to sustain, with no guarantees of profit. You will have to take money that we need right now to build houses and schools for poor people and you will have to gamble with that money to build mines. Nationalisation is not woodwork. Will you be the one to look our old women in the eyes and say that they can't have their houses today because you want to invest in mines that will perhaps give us profits in ten years' time? Our minerals will not crawl out of the earth by themselves. And we know that any profits will first have to survive going through your sticky hands before they reach the rest of us. Jacob Zuma's Nkandla upgrade was wrong on all fronts. But you also took taxpayers' money to demolish a R3 million house in order to build a R16 million house in Sandton. Your own EFF commissar Andile Mngxitama criticised you for this very thing three years ago. Does he think you are no longer that man? None of us should be that naive. You have insulted so many of our people. You insulted MaMbeki. You insulted Baba Buthelezi. You insulted Naledi Pandor. You had to apologise to all of them. Now you have insulted MaKhumalo, Jacob Zuma's first wife. She is a grandmother and you thought it

funny to sexualise her and ask us to imagine her in a bathing suit. Is the only old woman who you respect your own grandmother in Seshego? You speak to no one with respect. Anyone who disagrees with you must know that a choice insult is already on its way from you. When the Public Protector went for you, you had nothing good to say about her. When the same Public Protector went for Jacob Zuma and Pansy Tlakula, you hailed her work. How stupid do you think we are? Most of your erstwhile comrades in the ANC remain too scared to say anything against you, because they know that they stole with you, right alongside you. You know all their secrets. You get two kinds of politicians in this country: the ones who come from prison and those who must still go to prison. You belong to the latter. I may be an ex-thief, but you are a presentday thief. You, particularly you, cannot be calling all white people in this country thieves. I have a serious problem with you telling our young people that they must take the mines and take the land. All you can think of in your choice of language is "Take, take and destroy." You are inculcating an attitude of taking instead of contributing and working. Our youth do not need that. No one needs that. Our youth need to be empowered educationally and financially to grow this country. Yo u a r e t h e m o d e r n - d a y Nongqawuse. There was no one there in 1856 to warn our people against that false prophet. Somebody needs to have the courage to warn us against you. I'm not scared of you. But I am scared of what will happen to this country if our young people don't realise what you are before it is too late. For most of my younger years I was surrounded by conmen and thieves. But you are the biggest thief I ever met. You, truly, are the Con-mander in Thief. I wish Kenny would take South Africa into his confidence over the real reasons why he left EFF. Yours truly Gayton McKenzie, Patriotic Alliance President (Source: IOL: The Star newspaper)

“The democratic system and its institutions are functioning” (From a Saudi viewpoint) “Are you Iraqi?” asked the passport officer in Cape Town International Airport, South Africa. * No, Sir, I am Saudi. Same passport colour, I know! From where in Saudi Arabia? He asked with a big, sweet smile. * From Jeddah, Makkah region! Oh, you come from the Land of Islam. Welcome to SouthAfrica! * Are you Muslim? Yes, brother, alhumdillah. It is my dream to go for Haj. I made a reservation, but I have to wait years for my turn. Lucky you! I guess you could go every year for Haj and every week for Umrah, if you wish! He stamped and handed me back my passport, then held my hand and looked at me with loving, smiley, wet eyes. “May I ask you for a favour, brother?” he asked. * Sure, dear. How can I help you? I answered wondering. When you go to Haram, and stand by the Kaaba gate, please pray for me and my family. Pray I can kiss the black stone and drink Zamzam, at least once, before I leave this world. And when you go to Madinah, give my salaam to my beloved Prophet, peace be upon him. “Amana” brother, don't forget!”

That was the best introduction to South Africa, where the worlds meet. The man seemed from Asian origin, Indian or Malay. After the Dutch settled in Cape Town, in 1652, they brought Asian slaves to help them farm and build towns. They were trying to find a new route to India, which was found later, by Portuguese explorer, Vasco Da Gama. The British, Germans, French and other Europeans followed. The Xhosa, Zulu and other African tribes, who lived north of Cape Town, came down. So, South Africa, today, is made of representatives of all world stripes Black, white and coloured. They came from the old civilizations to build a new one. After a century of apartheid, non-white South Africans finally won their freedom and rights. Nelson Mandela came out, in 1990, of 27-year imprisonment to lead his nation transition to democracy and equal duties and rights. He managed to do so, when he convinced his oppressed people to forget and forgive... to forgo revenge and focus instead on rebuilding their new democratic nation. Twenty years later, since the first election in 1994, have they succeeded? Blacks are in power. They run the government, thanks to

their 80% majority. The white and coloured run most trade and industries. Still, most blacks are illiterate. The coloured fare better than but not as well as the whites. Educational, medical and accommodation services are still behind government promises and people's expectations. However peace rules! The democratic system and its institutions are functioning. The press is free and people vote for the parties and candidates of their choice. Compared to the old times it's troubled, harsh history this is a great achievement. What really moved me is what I saw in an elementary school. For the first time in South Africa's history, black, white and coloured children were attending the same classes, learning how to love and respect each other, and to judge one another on the bases of merits and achievement, not race, religion and skin colour. This is something the world, ours included, need to learn. Dr.Rasheid Small is a South African professor, Prince Sultan College, Alfaisal University, explains: The fabric of society's moral values together with a corrupt justice system only but encourages the degradation and abuse of humanity. In South Africa where racial discrimination was enshrined in the constitution and laws

of the land, it was applied for the benefit of one sector of its population. However, after 1994 when the country was freed from discriminatory laws, discrimination is still rife at a societal level and the laws, which should be applied to ensure equality is skewed to favour the persons with wealth and authority. Abuse and discrimination are morally incorrect and goes against the nature of human beings.” Faiz Al-Najdi writes: “The article points out to the dichotomy that exists in the Saudi Society. It drives me crazy to learn about such a thing is going on here in the name of socalled Tribal Purity and Superiority never ever heard in other parts of the world. It is hard to imagine Islamic laws being trashed in a country where Islam was born. I think the Ulemas should rise up to the occasion and recommend abolishing such un-Islamic practices & customs.” Muhammad Nasir Siddiqui adds: “The only discrimination allowed in Islam is based on TAQWA and nothing else. All other discriminations are man-made and strictly prohibited in Islam, so I request religious scholars to further guide us all in this respect.” Dr. Khaled M Batarfi The Saudi Gazette (April 2014)
