Just a quick write up for the Western this week Cat Fans as I'm still a bit tired after the JBS Foods Black Tie Ball, great job by the organisers, sponsors andtheFosterFamily

TheUnder14scontinuetogive all they have got, there is only 14 of them but week in and week out they put on a show, better players were Billy Rhook, Jett Lykke, Nate Longhurst, Jagger Geary and HarryButterworth.

The Under 16's again put in a mightyeffortagainstthetopof the ladder Demons but had some issues converting, eventually going down by 15 points, better players were Jedd Rhook, Joshua Jones, Oliver Foster, Samuel Patton, DylanMunroandArchieLane. A slow start proved costly for theusuallyfaststartingRessies but the way they finished would have pleased Coach Carlin, better players were Thomas Searle, Kane Forbes, J a r r a d S m i t h , K a d e n Humphries, Conan Devereux andBevanWombwell.

The Seniors were just a bit off thepacebutIamsuretheycan come back from this set back, better players were, Michael Krieger, Nick Schembri, Justin Carlin,ZacNash,PatMilichand HamishMcCrae.

This week we welcome Millicent, enjoyourhospitality, reasonably priced sausages and magnifficent steaks because I have a feeling you are not going to enjoy the FootyasourCatsarelookingto makeamealoutofyourSaints, CARNCATS!

Today we make the pilgrimage to Island Park. We've shared many entertaining encounters and wish Casterton-Sandford a long and prosperous future, and may there be many more great contests betweenourfantasticclubs!

Colby plays his 50th game today A product of our junior program, Clancy has steeled his way into our best lineup to be one of our key six defenders in the 22 flag A purveyor of red wine and never short of quick wit, get behind him today in what should be another toughencounter.

Last week our Seniors had a 30 pointwinoverNorth.Frazersnared 3goals,pairstoHamishMcRaeand Fish, singles to Tunks, Cargs, DredgieandFinn(musthavebeena gift!).Youjusthavetoloveruckmen kickinggoals.

Harry Tunkin continued his good form to be named best player followed by the return from State Country duties Clint. Hamish was named next, threading a string of continuous form together Worm was next followed by Micah who returned to the side Ginny rounded off the best players named and its worth mentioning theconsistentseasonhehashadas a major cog in our effective back six.

The Magoos had a convincing win. Goalkickers were: Slop IWelcome back Slop) with 4, Josh with 3, Brad 2 and singles to Nugget, Snow, Muzz and Charlie. Age will not weary the better players because like a fine wine.....Nat was named best followed by Brad and Josh. Charlie and Shaun were named next followed by Slop for his first game back (after a significant absence).

Many thanks to the organisers of the Rump'N'Red last week. Many thanks especially to those who frocked up and attended, making it an enjoyable and well patronised event.

HiAll,Theweekendsarefalling quicker and quicker and this weekend we host South at home. We have the day of the Duck followed by the casino night so a big night to be had. We are auctioning of our indigenous jumpers up the clubsobesuretogetupandbe apart of history Back at home hoping the fine weather holds of for the weekend and we get a reprieve of the rain for a homegame.

Training was great with all Junior Roos joining the west kids for training. It was a great sight and plenty of smiles on everyone’s faces The game was competitive at the end With our reserves Coach Nathan Lewis convincingly beating in a 1 on 1 contest in the goal square by an under 12 E player. Toolbox thinking he is magic side stepping kids, and Stoney running around the same height as most under 12s. Interesting thing is Stoney still never handballed in the drill.

The football karma gods got me last week after giving a bake to Minuzzo and boasting about the pies! Getting Cooky sooking in the first quarter to sending me love hearts in the last was painful as the Blues final hit some form. I am so fortunate and pleased to know my pain causes so many pleasurer and its amazing how many Blues supporters we haveintheclub.Unfortunately mymouthandmybrainarenot quick learners so this week we have a bye against the Hawks so we are back in the winners circle. That’s makes for a great Saturday at the club so get up andbeapartofitall.

Special thanks to all the wonderful sponsors that keep on giving and supporting our greatclubtirelessly.

VIt was sponsors day last week and we thank them all for the contribution to the club and we couldn't run without them and the Seniors put on a good show for them and snuck into the top 4 Mitch Harrold continued his good form to be best player, along with Mitch Sims, Jed Sims, Bryce Whicke, Elliot and Harry Fisher who played a great first game. Well what a great game of country football the atmosphere was great with alot of banter between opposition crowds.

The seniors started well against the top side to be down by by a goal at quarter time but had a lapse in the 2nd with west kicking 3.6 to 1.1 to be 23 points down at half time The guys rallied in the 3rd to be 9 points down at the break to set up a great come back in the last with both teams having chances to get the win but ended up in a draw. The improvement in this group is starting to show some results and nevergiveupattitudeis giving supporters something to smile about.

Best players Reece Lillicrap, Sam Lock, Shaun Lock, Carl Slape, John Forster and GiancarloCooper.

Reserves went down to the top side by 63 points but with west only having 3 more scoring shots coach Mally might have them working on there goal kicking during the week.

Round 13 was us hosting M i l l i c e n t , w h o a r e currently strong across most grades, testing all our teams, but providing our sponsors some quality footballtowatch.

For the first time for the year, the U14s had the worst of the conditions Coach Roulstone and his Bali crew would have been a bit flat with the weather, but nonetheless they got off to a good start with a very even first half, only to fall away as the game went on. Best players were Sam Baron, James Butler, Ethan Brook, Charlie Wurst and CodyBlanck.

Not sure what the U16s did Friday night, but their 1st quarter cost them the game after outscoring Millicent for the rest of the game. Not sure they boys can make finals now, which is a shame given the talent they have. Here’s hoping theycanseeouttheseason with a few wins for coach Zeitz, and themselves. Award winners were Aaron Dally, Ben Braithwaite, Chad McLaughlin, Cooper TurnerandSavCrispino.

U16s were competitive most of the game but a lapse in the 3rd not

There is no doubt that the tightest team we have is the U18s and there performances reflect same. They were fairly ordinary in the 1st quarter, but whatever coach Bryan said, got them going. We are excited to see how far these boys can go. Best players were named Jonty Collins, Trae Hamilton, Cooper Turner, Darcy Bryan, Zach Nulty and RichardKinyabugma.

Nothing much changes

The senior inaccuracy early left too little time to put Millicent under too much pressure, despite getting within a couple of goals in the last quarter No games in the WBFL look easy this time of the year and the boysneedtogetsomeform and momentum going as we head towards finals. With an injury to our ruckman at the first bounce, it was again left to Sam Stafford to shoulder the ruck duties, which while got him best player, left us wanting in the forward line. Other best players were Sam Egan, Aaron Dally, Sam Zeitz and CamOrtlepp.

This week we are off to the kennel, with all teams needing a win. Let’s all get theretocheerthemalong.

week to week with the reserves, apart from the players, but this week we did manage a goal kicker! MILLICENT had won the 1955 and 56 premierships under coach Ken Roberts but failed totakeathirdtitle.

Their premiership window was closing but it would re-open with a grand final appearance in 1960 after the arrival of Herb Henderson from Footscray, said to be the greatest VFL full back of alltime.

Neil McDonald who won the Mail Medal in 1954 wasstillplayingathisbestatcentrehalfbackand David Roughana moved to Millicent from East for oneyearowingtoanemploymenttransfer

He gave the Millicent outer defence plenty of rebound and his form during the season was so good he was selected in the SEBFL inter-league team.

Alby McIntyre had settled into a top full back where he mixed his pace and ability to play tall in the packs while veteran Tony Hodgens was still a talented centre half forward and provided Millicentwithasafeavenuetogoal.

WITH G GRREEEENNWWOOOOD D

Rover Dale Baker made his debut that season and he was a tough, nononsenseplayerwholovedthetoughworkinthe packs and had that ability to find his way through congestedtraffic.

He would later become a MP and Leader of the StateOpposition.

Up forward, they had Gordon Whetstone at full forward and he was runner-up in the league goal kicking on two occasions. He was a fast leading full forward who had the knack finding the goals. He was a much under-rated forward who was rarelybeatenatatimewhenthereweresometop fullbacksgoingaround.

Allan Gould was now into the veteran stage of his career but what a career he had. He was still a consistent ruckman and with his height he had beaten many former league ruckmen in the past fewyears.

Interestingly, the team’s mascot for the year was coach Ken Roberts’ son, also named Ken. He would later play 112 VFL games – 100 with Essendonand12withMelbourne.

KenseniorstartedhisVFLcareeratRichmondlate because of the Second World War. He debuted in

1947 at aged 22 when he was rated the best first year player, playing on a half back flank and in 1949hewasrunner-upinRichmond’sleaguebest andfairestaward.

He later found his way to several Victorian countryleagues, winningapremiershipatMinyip before taking Millicent to two flags in 1955 and 56. In 1958 he coached the Millicent senior colts and coached Beachport in the now defunct SouthernPortsLeaguein1960.

The Millicent club president Gordon Hutchesson would later go on to become president of the Western Border Football League in the late 1960s.

ROUNDPREVIEWS

WESTGAMBIERVSOUTHGAMBIER

The reigning premiers weren’t at their best in Round 13 and West Gambier will probably be without its coach and star goal aack Lisa McGregor but they would sll be confident on maintaining their unbeaten record when they host SouthGambierthisweekend.

The young Demons did take it up to MillicentinRound12butwerealile less polished at the weekend against the Cats so the Roos would believe theywillgetthejobdone.

Tahlia Earl stepped up for West last weekend when McGregor was injured early and rising teenage talent Lucy Simpson is also an opon to take the potenally vacant shoongrole.

SarahRierconnuestobeascoring machine and with the other end of the court with defenders Amy Cram and Jade Rier suffocang opposionoffences, theDemonswill need to bring their best for four quarters if they are to upset the reigningtleholders.

Gracie Dalton and Alyssa Duncan have formed a wonderful working relaonship in the South shoong circle and they will rely on good connecon with Ruby Richter and Megan Reid – Reid coming off a strong month in centre for the Demons.

At the other end, it will require shung down Sarah Rier and that task will take not only South’s circle defenders Sophie Wight and Ellie Bouchier but also Tully McShane and Reid to apply pressure to West feeders Mikaela Horrigan and Tara Bryant.

The boom line is even if McGregor is absent, the Roos have enough defensive firepower to create turnover ball as well as the presence and accuracy of Sarah Rier to securethepremiershippoints.

Aside from a fadeout in the last quarter, Casterton Sandford looked more seled and compeve in the Round 13 clash with South, but it is another step up in class as the Cats host Millicent, who will be looking to r e b o u n d s t r o n g l y f r o m a disappoinng narrow loss to North Gambierattheweekend.

Ivy Lane and Madalene Cleary are seling into their combinaon in the shoong circle and they will need to move the ball with paence and precision to find a way through the defensive line of Lauren Van Eeden and Pora McRae and that will rely on the work rate of Chelsey Galpin and Chloe Foster finding good feedingposiononthecircle’sedge.

At the other end, defenders Caeleigh HumphriesandEbanyJarradfacethe daunng task of denying Tabatha Sanderson easy ball, as well as controlling the influence of Demi Verbena.

Verbena is dangerous with ball in hand with her ability to find Sanderson at the post and she is also deadlinefromlongrangeontheshot and her connecon with Daisy Tunkin, Lisa Duldig and Lillie Paul will be pivotal in generang the slick ball movement so typical of the Saints at theirbest.

Madeline Paon will play a key role for the Cats in curtailing the influence of the Millicent mid court by denying them easy access to the circle’s edge as well as pressuring every feed in the hope of drawing errors.

In the end, Millicent boasts more experience and are a more seled line-upandtheywilltakethepoints.

EASTGAMBIERVNORTHGAMBIER

The match of the round is at McDonald Park as the Bulldogs host NorthGambier

The Tigers are coming off a confidence building victory over

Millicent, while East will be looking for beer consistency aer having a poor start and then a poor final quarter against West Gambier last round, in a match where they otherwise matched the reigning premiers.

Morgan Amy thrives on playing the tall shooters in the compeon and her bale with North shooter Grace Pos will be one of the match definingclashesofthematch. Amyisstrongintheairandworksthe front posion with strength to try and deny her taller opponents easy ball and with her partner in crime Bo Creek also hunng intercepons higher up the court, North will not want to take the East defensive line lightly

Of course, Brianna Walters and Mel Renko are quality feeders and along withTigersgoalaackMaceyGriffith have built great connecon with Pos so pressure from the likes of Chloe Perryman and Eliza Cole on that incoming ball will be crucial if East is to stay in touch on the scoreboard.

Thisweekendmarksanewchallenge for North circle defenders Mikaila Pi, Noni McConnell and Stella Mobbs – rather then denying a tall shooterball, theywillbefacedwitha quick moving circle, with Renee Henke not afraid to take the long shot and Casey Horrigan using her ming on the baseline move to find spaceinrange.

Coming off a strong performance in her 350th game Tarsh McCallum will also be a key and her bale with Lauran Norman or Pi will be another key match up. No one works the small spaces beer than McCallum and her delivery is always precise.

In theend, though Northjusthas too many weapons to let this one slip as thefinalsapproach.

SOUTHGAMBIERVCASTERTONSANDFORD

There was no doubt Casterton Sandford set themselves for theirround 13 clash with South Gambierandtheygotofftotheperfectstartas Ivy Lane dominated the shoong circle with eight from nine as the cats secured a two goal quartermelead.

Chelsey Galpin, Chloe Foster and Madalene Cleary were moving the ball with precision, while at the other end of the court, Ebany Jarrad and Caeleigh Humphries were making thingsalottougherfortheSouthshooters.

Safe to say, the Cats strong start jolted the Demons into acon The defensive effort improved significantly and Gracie Dalton started to find good shoong posion, neng 10from11asSouthwrestedbackthelead. Her combinaon with Ayssa Duncan started to look beer connected, while the hard running from Megna Reid in the centre saw the Demons enjoy beer ball movement across thecourt.

The half me advantage was three goals but the Cats were far from done and the arm wrestleconnued.

Humphries and Ellie Bouchier were both creang turnover ball for their respecve sides, while Dalton and Lane were having a shootout and at the final change South was clingingtoafourgoaladvantage.

EASTGAMBIERVWESTGAMBIER

East Gambier was celebrang a special milestone for a special player when they hosted West Gambier at the weekend but the party was short lived aer the Roos came out oftheblocksfiringandtookearlycontrolofthe clash.

East Gambier 2021 premiership captain Tarsh McCallum celebrated 350 games as a Bulldog andwhileshewasherside’sbestinthe14goal loss, her team mates would rue their sluggish start.

East struggled to find a way through the ght Westdefenceintheopeningquarterandcould onlyputfivegoalsontheboard, whiletheRoos were slick and direct in their ball movement and despite losing Lisa McGregor early in the quarter t a calf injury, the lead at the first changewasalreadyeight.

East sprung into acon in the second as McCallum and Eliza Cole enjoyed beer access to goalers Renee Henke and Casey Horrigan, while at the other end, Morgan Amy and Bo Creek were shung down the access to Tahlia Earl, whotookthegoalshooterbibtocoverfor McGregor, as the Bulldogs worked their way backintothecontest.

The 10-all second quarter at least steadied the ship for the home side and then in the third, the condions did not make for stylish netball foreitherteam.

NORTH GAMBIER V MILLICENT

ForthesecondmethisseasonNorthGambier has conjured a win over Millicent - a stunning openinghalfsenguptheeventualthreegoal victory

The Tigers opted for young defender Stella Mobbs as the match up for Saints shooter Tabatha Sanderson with usually goal keeper Mikaila Pi taking the defensive wing and the movehadimmediateimpact.

As the Saints struggled to find easy access to theshoongcircle, theTigersweremovingthe ball clinically, with Brianna Walters finding great connecon with Grace Pos, who rewarded her team mates by converng 11 from 14 as North set up a seven goal quarter melead.

Millicent moved Lisa Duldig into the centre at the main break with Lillie Paul heading to the defensive wing and the move had immediate impact. North also made a change with Lauran Normantakingthewingdefencebib.

While the goalers from both teams converted with good accuracy despite the wild condions, thematchwasplayedbetweenthe twogoalcirclesasbothsidesappliedrelentless defensivepressure. The Cats found themselves under pressure at every turn and while Lane connued to be reliable, neng five from six, there were just not enough scoring opportunies, while the Demons were able to find Dalton in space with regularity and her 10 from 13 ensured South endedupwithacomfortable11goalvictory.

The work of Tully McShane and Reid in the mid court was crical in the South victory, while HumphriesandLanewerebestfortheCats.

At the final change the margin was nine but when the Roos moved Sarah Rier back to her usual role of goal shooter and Earl moved out to goal aack, scoring became easier again for the reigning premiers and they won the quarter by five to register a comfortable 14 goalvictory

It was the Rier sisters leading the way for the Roos – Sarah as the scoring machine, while Jade combined with Amy Cram to ensure scoring was difficult for the Eats goalers and her work over the shot and rebounding was crucial.

For East, McCallum and the hard running Cole werebest.

Sanderson was suddenly freed up as she converted 12 from 14 and the Saints appeared tohavefinallyfoundtheirmojowithbeerball movement in aack and a more persistent defensiveeffort.

It was the Saints again in control in the final quarter but they were unable to reel in the Tigers’ advantage and North took the premiershippointswithathreegoalvictory.

Brianna Walters dominated the mid court for North and her connecon with Pos proved unstoppable for the majority of the contest, whilePoswasagainrocksolidatthepost.

Despite Pos having another strong game, Saints defender Pora McRae was in the contest all game, and she limited the usual output of the Tigers spearhead with her ght checkingandstrongcontesngintheair, while Demi Verbena connues to be one of Millicent’s best with her well med moves and precisedeliverytoSanderson.

Scores were even right up to the last quarter making it an excitingfinish.Afteracoupleofchanges, we were able to sneak ahead with some fantastic feeding into the circle and accurate shooting form by the goalies to take the win! Last week, we started off slowly with it being a close and even first quarter Eventually we started to turn over the ball and execute these on the scoreboard, but still not being able to extend our lead much. Another day of wet conditions affected our goalie’s accuracy and north applied a good full court defensive pressure. The girls need to keep working hard at training and listening to ensure we are ready and improving more before finals! Best players were Lucy and Amarlie and the JM Incentive award went to Scarlett for hersecondeffortsalldayindefence.

No Ella. No Brooke. No worries. C Grade’s Chelsea Dunn and Alannah Clayton, who teamed in the 17 & Under team last year in the defensive circle, teamed up at the other end of the court in goals and while there were some blooper moments, the pair got the job done. Not to say Brooke (& Ella if she can!!!) aren’t more thanwelcomebacktotakeonthe shootingresponsibilities.

It saw Mel and Jess combine in defence and both played one of their best games for the season creating plenty of turnover ball, while Jade, who always provides plenty of moments of levity, was also instrumental in winning the ballback.

Misty ran hard through the middle and combined well with Ash, feeding the ball with precision to their young shooters and it was a good win over the Cats.

On a more serious note, Ella will b e m i s s e d a n d we h ave everything crossed that her work placement in Adelaide won’t totally preclude her from returning at some stage to be partoftheteamagain.

The B Grade had a come from behind draw with their rivals the Cats, in what was a tight, tough encounter that was goal for goal formuchofthecontest.

Both Kaitlyn and Tara did some good work on the Cats tall shooter, while Maca was Maca andnotjustimportantinwinning the ball back but also as a link playerthroughthemiddle.

Shelby’s return saw her take the goal defence bib and she worked overtime to reduce the influence of evergreen Trictia Cleary, while Jassy and Hannah ran hard through the mid court with Tara also having an impact when she movedintothecentre.

Sam and Mel again had to contend with some tight checking defending but they worked hard to find space and showed great composure in the last few minutes when the girls worked their way back to shar thepoints.

The15&UnderBalsohadagood win. This group of Amber, Grace, Kadie, Macie, Sophie, Layla and skipper Lily have shown great resilience, trying a number of positions and also helping out the15&underAteamandunder Misty’s guidance are improving each week, applying better defensive pressure and also lookingaftertheballbetter

Was a tough game against a strong west side. We started off slow and we couldn’t peg back the score line. We had some fantastic passages of play during the game. Our defence worked extremely well together to get lots of hands to ball but unfortunately our mistakes let us down and we couldn’t concert them to goals. Let’s keep training hard and the next win is just aroundthecorner Proudofthegirls.

Great game today by the whole team. Patience and persistence has paid off to see you get a very well deserved win.

Defence worked hard for the full 4 quarters to create needed turnovers. Mid-courtrantheballwellforthefull4 quarters playing our game and making correct choices for passes Goalies were accurate and made the most of everyopportunitytoscore.

All team members adapted to the many changes required while having a fullteam.

Overall, any extremely great team effort and I am very proud of each and everyoneofyou.

After our lose last week, we wanted to startstrongandfinishstrongwhichthe girlsdid.

Having Eryn play her last game before traveling overseas you will be missed! Brooklyn again was consistent in her defence Grace through the middle providing good drive and run the full game out. Chloe played an absolute pearler of a game at WD, Tamara playedatWAandshowedherpatience with her passing. In the goals Millie, Megan and Katie shot and all played welltogether

I solid game for us today girls. Really great pressure all over the court. We didn’t get the win but it was a massive improvement from the last time we play We still haven’t quite found that consistency across all 4 quarters, so let’s hope we can for next week. Big congratulations to Tarsh McCallum for achievingher 350 games. We are all so lucky to have you as an amazing coach andteammate.

VUnder 11’s - It was another wet, cold start to our Saturday morning. The court was slippery and the ball was tricky to grasp but the girls displayed their absolute best efforts to support each other and work as a team. We had many seamless passages of play that demonstrated the skills we have been practising at training. Best players were Molly Sutton and Sophie Halloran. Molly has shown immense improvement over the season, she was pivotal in implementing our game strategy Sophie continues to demonstrate her versatility and strength in the midcourt. VanCino encouragement award went to Ivy Levine.Afantasticteameffortgirls,welldone.

Under 13B’s: - Our first game in a long time playingwithallsevenavailable.Thegirlscame out full of enthusiasm and worked hard to try and free themselves of their opponents. To Millicent's credit they moved the ball quickly and into space. We had some good passages ofplayandlinkedtheballnicelywhenlooking forward. Our connections grew as the game went on, and it was encouraging to see we nevergaveup.

Under13A’s:-Achallengingtussleagainstthe undefeated team without our full line up. Grace displayed her versatility & worked positively with Ava in circle defence. Piper filled the WA position and linked well with Mackenzie & Jenna through the mid court. Laceyhadagreatgamedrivingtointospace& shooting accurately Carey was a good focal point in GS with strong holds & decision making. Our goal at 3/4 time was to win the final quarter which the girls achieved by 2 goals.

Under15A’s:-Wewentintoourgameagainst Millicent knowing it was going to be a tough game against a strong side, and to the girls credit they worked hard at training this week and implemented our structures which resulted in an amazing 14 goal win! It was a real team effort and it was great to see the girlspatienceinattackandfullcourtdefensive pressure resulting in many turnovers Georgia’s feed were beautiful and her second phase drives worked to break down Millicent’s defence. Elodie shot very well and continues to be a playmaker in our attack. I couldn’t have asked for much more from the girls and was very proud of how they all played. Maggie continues to do what she always does, drives hard, controls the game, feedswellandhadanoutstandinggameinher 100thgamefortheclub!WelldoneMaggie.

Under 15B’s: - With Millicent being close competitors all season, we knew it was going to be a tough game. It was a tight contest in the first quarter, only being up by a few at the first break. Mia and Mischa worked well to present to the ball in the circle and were both accurate in their execution. Georgia and Lily fed well into the circle with multiple intercepts through the mid court, while Bella, Penny and Raine got plenty of touches and reboundsthatturnedintogoals.Inthesecond half, Kelsie joined Mia in goals with both girls addingtoourmargin, whileZoealsowentinto WA and her quick drives provided plenty of optionsforKelsieandMia.Thegirlscontinued to push hard against Millicent’s efforts and responded well to feedback at breaks, which resulted in a 13 goal win (35-22). It is exciting to see the girls working so efficiently together asweapproachfinals.

Under 17’s: - We knew this week could go either way against Millicent having won one a piece so far The girls have been working hard to ensure they present strong options to the ball and this was particularly evident during thefirstquarterwhichsawusgainafivepoint lead. Our second quarter, however, was a

different story Only scoring three goals we put a huge amount of pressure on our defenders to keep us in the game Our defenders met the challenge, keeping Millicent to just seven goals. The second half saw the same solid structure, positive decision making and confident passages of play that were evident in the first quarter, allowing the girls to extend their lead and completethegamewithanimpressive18goal win. It was an outstanding team effort, with everyoneworkinghardtoplaytheirpart.Best players for round 13 were Stella Mobbs and Tora Jones Both girls displayed a strong defensive performance, and heavily contributedtoouroverallresult.

C Grade: - Another strong win for us over Millicent this week, 40-21. It was a slow and messy start however the girls were able to compose themselves and really take control of the game in the second quarter We welcomed back Shay Merrett after 2 weeks off and she offered us great drives, second efforts and voice when transitioning the ball fromdefencetoattack.Thegirlsappliedgreat defensive pressure through the mid court which led to several interceptsand turnovers. Tara Fleming and Kahlia Egan fed beautifully into the circle all day Another strong team effort with the girls ready to finish off the seasonwell.

Bestplayers:ShayMerrettandTaraFleming.

B Grade: - Another close encounter with one of the tops teams. We definitely have the goods but can not seem to put that together for the full 60 minutes. Brianna and Katie worked tirelessly in defence against some tall and strong opponents. Zarly had her best gameyetatWDstoppingthedriveandgetting her hands to some great ball. Amelia and Maddy drove and fed well with Georgia and Ava moving well with some accurate shooting. We have 3 games left, lets make them strong and put together for the full 4 quartersandhopefullyacoupleofwinsonthe board.Awards:

A Reserve: - We started strongly this week getting lots of the play and taking advantage of early missed shots, however a lot of errors, bad decision making and rushed passed saw us finish the quarter 6 quals down. After the quarter time break we came out on a role and wereplayingalotmoreconsistentnetballand got a great run on bridging this gap at one stage with some great pressure all over court, however we couldn’t maintain this lifted intensity and allowed Millicent to claw it back to an even quarter Some changes to the defence circle in the 3rd saw Millicent increase their lead slightly, and some further changes in the 4th actually saw us win that quarter so we know it is possible when we meet them again Our defense line in all combos was strong again today with Jessie getting her ands to lots of intercepts, whilst the work the attach line have done at training is showing so now we just need to pull it all together and get the linking right and go into thelastfewgamesoftheyearlikethis

BestPlayers:JessieLittleandAlyciaPitson

A Grade: - It was a great win this week. We thoughtcarefullyaboutmatchupsandbought a physical game to attempt to disrupt the sleek ball movement of Millicent. Our start wasjustwhatwewanted, withsoliddefensive pressure allows us to create turnovers and capitalise. At half time, we were up by 12 goals. Millicent and ourselves made some changesandtheycameoutfiringwitha6goal run straight out of the blocks. We manage to settle and start working the ball closer to the circle edge for feeding. Macey shot well in wet, windy conditions and stepped up when needed. Stella mobs was able to deny the MillicentGSandkeepheroutofthegame.
