Answers to the questions
Having in mind the readings, you need to answer the following questions, and publish them into the collaborative forum:
a. Based on the chapter “Develop Reading Materials”, what are the most important elements that material developers should take into account in selecting and presenting the reading materials? Mention and explain at least three elements.
• The first element that should be used is a diagnostic evaluation or an exercise, where the level of the student is highlighted, then an activity that is already designed with respect to the needs of the student and finally the evaluation that verifies that the student understood the topic
b. Based on the chapter “Some Guidelines for Developing Listening Materials” explain the following listening performances and give at least 2 examples for each type:
• intensive listening: allows students to practice individually as a song
• selective listening: the student tunes in to the sounds that are in their environment and simply uses them to their advantage
• interactive listening: it refers to a conversation where several people appear, in this way it is easy to learn since real expressions are heard
• extensive listening: this refers to the message that the person with whom we are engaging in a conversation understands
• receptive listening: it refers to the fact that the listener is understanding what we are saying, it is a good sign and it means that he understands us
• Autonomous listening: it is the listening that depends on us, what we decide to listen to, for example, music, movies and others
c. Based on the chapter “Materials to Develop Speaking Skill” explain the notions of accuracy, fluency, and complexity, and mention what kind of activities a teacher can apply in class for learners who are not confident in speaking.
• precision: it is when the way of writing is correct, when the students themselves see their mistakes and correct them
• fluency: fluency refers to the way you can speak or write, in a calm and unforced way
• complexity: complexity is the level of difficulty that something has, in order to teach and measure knowledge
d. Based on the chapter “Materials for Teaching Writing”, explain what kind of authentic materials should we use for teaching writing in the language class.
• magazines are a great source of vocabulary and expressions, news gives us good pronunciation and novels also give us situations that have specific expressions
welcome
