The Birrarung (Yarra River) is a river of mists and shadows - the river and its environs are a living, breathing entity that follows Wurundjeri songlines and forms a central part of the Dreaming of the Wurundjeri. A Dreaming that links the billabongs, wetlands and swamps in the upstream, across the meandering plains and out to the salt water.

THREAT OF OSL S - DISAPPEARING WETA L NDS

Banyule Flat has many short and small wetlands. However, compared to permanent wetlands, they are only briefly visible during rainy seasons or flooding periods, are under-recorded or less important in terms of scale or vegetation conditions. Changes in urban hydrology and future climate pose serious threats to the transient and seasonal wetlands of Banyule Floodplain.

Seasons are fleeting and never the same, they are more universal than the landscape itself. Time-framed landscapes reveal vegetation growth cycles and changes in fauna, flooding activity, and human interactions with the site's surroundings. Seasons affect certain systems, more notably Banyule flatplain with many ephemera streams and wetlands.

DIFFERENT PHASE - SEASONS & CELEBRATION

Seasonal herbaceous wetlands in Victoria are characterised by abundance, although they are only full for a few months and disappear during the dry season. The flora and fauna celebrate the changing landscape in a short period of time, the ephemeral landscape also provides the visitor with the opportunity to learn about the changes in vegetation, fauna and hydrology,
