is a contemporary artist from Hangzhou, China.

His works including sculpture, image, video, installation, painting ...

These works show his unique interest in old industrial products and attempt to rebuild a new contemporary working state.

ARTIST STATEMENT Main forms of my art creation are installations and videos.

I am specialized in sculpture; a lot of practice let me have a unique feeling about "object" and "material". Besides, I always have the habit of collecting old things and repairing them, therefore lots of old machinery appeared in my dynamic installation works.

These worthless old mechanical products are gradually replaced by new technologies, I hope that by rebuilding their working status (abnormal) they will have a relationship with new objects and space, and do abnormal work.

In the process of rebuilding, all the elements have been transformed into my emotions as well. Eventually, the installation's working status that I set becoming an expression of my own performance, which is established because of its "abnormalities" and cannot be replaced by human behavior.

Part of my current creation has turned to video and animation. In addition, I am also studying the concept of "smell" in art.

BEGIN SPACE Typewriter, Oil, Paper, Metal 95cm*65cm*150cm 2014 Glass tank filled with oil, a typewriter is being typed by solenoid valve cyclically. Tapping content is "begin space", Each percussion rhythms have differences. The ink being tapped on the paper will be cleaned by the oil instantly , only leaves the traces of the text, the ink will slowly fused with oil until all of the oil become to black.

1. Exploration of the relationship between the substance, the establishment of the concept about “field�: The typewriter is placed in oil and no specific relationship between the typewriter itself and its normal Working condition occurred with the oil. It beyond the existing concept and alienate a new sense of material existence.

2. My individual action and awareness involving in this relationship through the work of electromagnet and the lever: circulating percussion rhythm and content are fitting my selfawareness which produced in the creative process, each character being tapped gradually fill the body of oil with the form of ink, and leaving a mark of the whole process on the printing paper......

FLAPDOODLE Glass, Metal 250*270*250cm 2018 “The woman whispered and seemed to eagerly tell me something. The sound is constantly superimposed and separated in a limited way, and there is chaos in the brain. Maybe, I am doing the same dream every day, with distance, and being quickly forgotten.......�

The working state of this work is mainly centered on the changes of sound and the fading images. Sounds are collected from a woman's dream talk, which has no specific meaning.

The woman's voice continued to overlap and stop facing a huge transverse test tube, and eventually turned into a gasp. I collected the echoes generated by the test tube by means of sound acquisition, converted them into image data, sprayed them on the wall with an automatic sprinkler, and the image faded quickly. The whole workflow simulates a person's behavior and completes the emotional expression I want.

WU,WU Glass, Water 150*50*600cm 2018 Two large test tubes filled with water are connected to each other, correspondingly rising and falling and reciprocating. When one container is filled, the other container is naturally emptied. Based on the acoustic characteristics of glass, the sound waves are collected and played in real time on-site, so that the state of balance and motion is auditory on the basis of vision. The texture generated by the superposition of two different frequencies but complementary sounds seems to have some kind of texture. a frustrated mood.......

GIRL Glass, Water, Electrolysis 200*20*50cm 2017 Wearing a thin coat, shy but still welcoming, quietly waiting for the light to pass through her body - "girl fruit."

For "girl", the four people tried to say something with their own language, and the description was always like black sugar. In the evening of the 3rd day, the alienation sentiment collapsed on the Rhine beach. Perhaps “lucky” is still stay in the box with the ship drifting, with a weak electricity. Its secret flow into the hearts. Everything is broken down into ambiguous status. Through the light, sprinkled all over the place...

GIFT Electric, Water, Earrings, Iron plate Variable size 2018 This work is displayed in the Salle 43 of HEAR. It consists of three parts: an empty jewelry box, a pair of earrings and a piece of iron plate welded with words. The whole installation works have been working continuously. This work is the continuation of “Girl�. It also uses the means of Electrolysis, which makes Earrings rust and rust removal quickly in water, forming colorful sediments and floating objects. The characters of the iron plate welded in advance are gradually clear and blurred under the influence of electric current.

I bought the earrings from the second-hand market in Strasbourg. I don't know who their former owner was. So I made a virtual story about the earrings and forced them to be connected in series at the same time in an electrolyte. Slowly, the surface of the earrings (traces of the former owner's use) was dissolved, and new stories were implanted in the Earrings. Finally, the transformed Earrings returned to the jewelry box as a gift to me.

Interestingly, the same pair of earrings appeared two different colors in the electrolysis process.

SAND Glass, Sand Variable size 2016 A long conveyor belt carries sand back and forth to a narrow space formed between three pieces of glass. Sand is accumulated or leaked, and its relationship with glass is projected by light. A state of growth and passage just like a movie.

NEVER SEEN SOMEONE SEEM SO DEPRESSED Engine oil, Water, Lens, Ink, Iron 50cm*50cm*200cm 2015 “Excited blush, disappointing pale, some strange deformation, a kind of light or shadow”

The relationship between rusty pillar and the images on the wall like a mysterious sense of ritual. The internal three substances (oil, water, ink) which have my personal invert emotions is being happened mutual relations with each other, Then the relationship between them is clearly amplified into a real-time movie through the plurality of lenses. Throughout the process of dynamic ,the image is being changed order but disorder and it looks like type-B ultrasonic.

Overall, the dynamic images and static pillar static are forming the relationship about dynamic and static, inside and outside, It can also be understood that my delicate observation about myself as a contradictory human being. I also hope that the relationship between these two parts can builds a “field”, When someone are surrounded there. I hope he’s/she’s field of the sensitive heart can be touched, and this feeling is just about fear, sadness or any others, is not the same ......

THE DESCRIPTION OF BLACK Ink, Water, Glass Variable size 2015 Three spray guns are facing a piece of glass at the same time. Two of them are spraying ink on the glass, while the other is spraying water. The spotlight in the middle emits strong light through the glass and lens, which shows the whole process of blackening and washing through image. Eventually, it leaves an indelible mark, just like our language and description.

“SOUTHERN LINE HOTEL" RECONSTRUCTION PROJECT 2013 The Southern Line Hotel is located next to Nanshan Campus of China Academy of Art. My undergraduate years are spent on this Campus of CAA. In the past four years, I have to go through the Southern Line Hotel every day when I enter the campus. Unconsciously, its existence has become a part of my life. When I was a senior, the hotel went bankrupt and was renovated. Then scaffolding was erected all around the house, but it was not clear whether it was to be rebuilt or built for other purposes. This situation lasted for a whole year, which also gave a new question.In this stagnant transformation process, whether the relationship between government, economy and region is also changing silently. Based on this obscure relationship, I made a one-day plan. I lengthened the scaffolding, extended it to the nearby living space, intervened in and affected the public's life, and aroused the public's thinking on social development and urban transformation in a diary way.

120+ Bamboo, Wood 600*600*1000cm 2016 This work was created in Damaxi Village, Dongkou County, Hunan Province. Dongkou County is one of poverty-stricken counties in China. There are many villages with minority nationalities gathering. Damaxi Village belongs to Yao Township. The architectural style here is very Yao nationality characteristic and has a history of more than 100 years. However, with the urbanization process in China, new buildings are built. Housing has slowly begun to replace these old wooden houses, but also slowly changed the way of life of villagers. I conducted a large number of surveys on villagers' attitudes and village history, and found out that local villagers prefer to update into a modern life.

In China, the process of urbanization is based on replacing the old ones, so the existence and continuity of these old houses are in danger. I invited three villagers to complete this sculpture with me. As experienced villagers in the development of the village, they worked with me to rebuild this castle in the air according to the layout and architectural style of the village. The pavilions are supported by nearly 120 local bamboos. Through the entire construction process.

The villagers can see these valuable historical wealth again.

乙未之间 Iron 40*50*60cm 2012 In 2012, I have been doing research on "space writing".

Calligraphy is the greatest abstract art in China. The composition of glyph and the extension of meaning are the main studies of this series of works. This work explores the relationship between "positive" and "negative", removing the "negative" from the form and reconstructing it.

TASTE "OBJECTS": WRITE Wood, Metal 180*60*100cm; 40*20*30cm 2013 This work has a very rational creative process. First of all, I selected five necessities or favorites in life, reorganized them and painted them all white, dispelling the meaning of the objects themselves. Then, I did a lot of painting and writing on the reconstructed objects in many ways. Finally, the two sculptures are constructed.

MEMORY Clay 50*50*50cm 2013 It is the reproduction of Xiahou Junjin's memory by family members without any photos.

MEMORY II Cement, Plaster, Metal 50*50*230cm 2013 This work is a moving sculpture installation. Memory 1 is placed on the lower end of the cement watch installation. When the cement gear works, it will produce cement powder falling on the sculpture.

Finally, the whole sculpture is completely covered.

Memory 1 is the reproduction of Xiahou Junjin's memory by family members. The work hopes to cover the memory state of the brain through dynamic reduction, and all changes are transformed into the works.

CLAY SCULPTURE 2011-2012 These works were selected between 2011-2012. I have studied the traditional clay sculptures and formed my own way to deal with the character modelling.
