Sometimes we feel change coming before it happens and we respond appropriately. At other times change arrives suddenly, forcing us to reshuffle priorities and adapt to new circumstances. Some changes last only a few days, while others unfold over years. Change can be exciting or it can be demanding. As philosopher Heraclitus said, “The only constant in life is change.”

We must use change to build a better life. We must learn to thrive in the waves as surfers do, assessing the tide and weather cycles. This insight, developed over time, will allow us to make better decisions. With practice, our foresight will deepen. In time, everything we previously considered a challenge is now an opportunity.
