HOW AND TO WHOM DO WE ADD VALUE? xec is a property and construction xecutive. It is a new proposition established on the back of 20+ years successful management, leadership and ownership in the lean and mean, single-figure margin, cash-strapped, professionally aggressive, larger scale commercial construction industry. Think of xec as your silent partner. We will assist you to develop strategies and optimise their implementation. In this strategy role we will cocreate the detailed operational diagnostics and performance metrics that deliver the strategy, and we will build reliable risk management frameworks that deliver robust governance. The value we add derives from successful outcomes within an environment of extreme industry competitiveness generating low margins, the instability of the supply chain, high levels of workforce disengagement and attrition, ongoing industrial relations management and the increasing operating compliance requirements. Successfully navigating the extremes of different economic environments over an extended period of time has underpinned our ability to look outside the square, and to embrace uncertainty and challenge, as an opportunity to reset the game. We work collaboratively to develop and execute strategy, with a focus on external stakeholders, commercial discipline, governance and people. Brian Sands has 30 years experience in residential, industrial and commercial construction. From trade background through site administration; project, construction and development management roles; general management roles both locally and internationally - complemented by ongoing executive level professional development and a Masters degree focussed on business enterprise performance. Recently, 10 years as Managing Director of a $100M private construction entity highlighted by successful transformation and turnaround initiatives through the economic turbulence and business uncertainty of the GFC and beyond.

PROJECT RISK ADVISORY xec is not a project manager, we are a property and construction experienced risk advisory that is engaged by the client, to be the client - evaluating, informing and mitigating their risks. Through our long-term successful track record and industry capability around business and project level turnaround, we seek to deploy simplistic, reliable governance and risk frameworks from a hands-on perspective that create opportunity, rather than simply reporting risk via well formatted minutes.

Providing credibility to the contract ‘step-in’ rights able to mitigate future risk, as opposed to simply holding on for a resolution of sorts.

Reducing significant opportunity cost wasted through deploying inexperienced internal resources as the project ‘post box’.

Knowing where time and cost benefit can be extracted through resequencing the value chain.

Meeting multiple stakeholder requirements in relation to probity, independent risk management, internal compliance and strict governance.
