let’s loiter:

in blocks, shapes and lines VOID DECKS OF CHONG PANG
cracks across the void deck flooring:

a common construction fault, reparished using a darker-coloured cement to save costs. this forms a curious network of lines and pathways, giving the void deck not just a sense of renewal, but also a hidden system.

within my site area, blk 114 has lifts A-F. the doors have a distinctive diamond shape on its parallel glass panes – vaguely resemblant to the tessellated diamond tiles at these lift lobbies.

void decks are in a flux state of departure and arrival. hence, its nodes for entry and exit are fluid and unrestricted.

= a collective spatial and textural experience
for some, it’s a convenient retreat, coming to life at night but only left with remnants of chaotic fun in the day. (we only like to rebel in the shadow of our physical abodes.)

for others, it’s simply a place of transit.

void decks harbour many pockets of dwelling space – not always conventional or entirely private.
