TO XAVIER NATION

A letter from the Athletic Director On behalf of the 300+ student-athletes at Xavier University, thank you for your support of our athletic department through the All For One Fund. Your involvement provides critical support to studentathletes from each of our 18 varsity sports and allows us to achieve excellence in the classroom, competition, and community. Because of All For One Fund members, we are not only providing our student-athletes with a worldclass education and state-of-the-art facilities for competition, but also showcasing what Xavier has to offer to our collegiate competitors as well as visitors and fans from across the country. During the 2016-17 academic year, Xavier studentathletes amassed 45 total All-BIG EAST Conference selections, an inspiring run in the NCAA Tournament by our Men’s Basketball team reaching the Elite Eight, and a monumental finish to the athletic season with a BIG EAST Championship by our Baseball team. To continually compete at the highest level, our student-athletes invest in their success daily through attending class, studying, nutrition, training, and preparing for competition. I challenge you to echo their commitment to excellence by joining the All For One Fund and investing in a special group of Xavier Athletics student-athletes.

Go X!

Greg Christopher Director of Athletics Xavier University

WHAT IS YOUR DREAM JOB?

WHY XAVIER?

WHY XAVIER?

SENIOR Biology Major Women’s Soccer Wooden Award Finalist

My dream job is to become a doctor. I’m not sure what I want to specialize in yet, but I’m excited to have a career where I can be engaged and thinking every day while helping people and providing families with hope.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLASS AT XAVIER?

SOPHOMORE Business Management Major Women’s Golf 2016-17 BIG EAST Women’s Golf Freshman of the Year

I picked Xavier because of the excellent academics and the amazing community that is the school. I absolutely love the campus and everyone is friendly and supportive. I fell in love with it on my visit, and I find new reasons each day to appreciate it even more.

My favorite classes at Xavier have been Medical Genetics with Dr. Robbins and also Quantum Chemistry with Dr. Hopkins. They were very different classes, but Medical Genetics covered topics that really interest me while I really enjoyed the math and logic of Quantum Chemistry.

WHAT’S THE BEST PART ABOUT XAVIER?

WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR CINCINNATI FAVORITES?

WHAT’S IT LIKE TO COMPETE IN THE BIG EAST?

I have a weakness for UDF milkshakes and malts. Eli’s Barbecue is also one of my Cincinnati favorites.

4

The best part about Xavier is the people here. We all are different, but we have come together as teams, clubs, classes, and an entire community and represent one thing: Xavier. We cheer each other on and push each other to work harder and achieve more. The BIG EAST is such an amazing conference. It has challenging competitions, but there’s a unity feeling to it. You know the players from other teams are getting a similar college experience, so you can relate to them much better than someone who goes to a much larger school and program. I personally feel a connection to students at the other schools.

SENIOR Psychology Major Men’s Track and Field 17 BIG EAST Medals

I chose Xavier because of its close knit community and its Division I atmosphere. I value the opportunity to compete at the highest level of the NCAA.

WHAT’S THE BEST PART ABOUT XAVIER?

The community at Xavier is strong, you can’t walk 10 feet without seeing somebody you know.

WHAT IS IT LIKE TO COMPETE IN THE BIG EAST?

The competition level never lessens, I am forced to give my all every time I step onto the track. You can never truly be “on top.” There will always be someone new looking to challenge you.

HOMETOWN: Alpharetta, Georgia MAJOR: Sport Management “My favorite Xavier memory so far is traveling across the country and competing in the Elite Eight. When we got off the bus after beating Arizona, we walked through a tunnel of people cheering in the hotel lobby- it gave me goosebumps! The Cintas Center is an incredible place to play, and it meant so much to hear so many fans in the stands when we were on the road from New York City to Orlando to California. Our fans and supporters make memories with my teammates even more special.”
