M CH AL ’ M MO RS July 2011 Announcement

Dear Family and Friends, This is a special newsletter to let you know that we have an announcement concerning a change in my work with Wycliffe. This change actually started over a year ago when the Lord began to impress on me the fact that my job as Vice President would be changing. There was nothing significant that brought this about, only an awareness that the Lord was moving and so over the past year both of us have been praying that if the Lord wanted me to do something different He would have to show me what that would be. We wondered if the Lord was going to send us back overseas, or if this was a time when I should look for ministry work outside of Wycliffe and become more involved in the work of the local church. So, we committed this to the Lord in prayer. Several months ago when we didn’t get any clear direction from the Lord, we informed our children and their spouses and asked them to pray, which they committed to do. We continued in our prayers as well. Then several months ago, we began to notice that God was moving in a more active way in my life as a discussion began in Wycliffe to merge my Recruitment Ministries department with Wycliffe’s Personnel department. Recently a decision was reached to actually merge these two departments into one. The decision was made that the VP for Personnel would lead the new merged team. That meant that my job was going away. Wycliffe is equipped to handle situations like this and so I was assigned a Personnel Administrator (PA) to help me during this

transition. After meeting with the PA and looking over a variety of jobs available I contacted the head elder at our home church in Kalamazoo, MI and asked him and the church leadership to pray and give me advice. They did and as a result, the one job that everyone agreed would be a good fit for me is the Director of Management Recruitment. The current director of this department is retiring and the one other manager recruiter for Wycliffe is moving to a new position in Wycliffe. So, I have been asked to head up this new department and grow the work. Why does Wycliffe have a Management Recruitment department? Well, you can imagine that with 6,000 workers worldwide involved in almost 1,800 active Bible translation projects there are all types of manager or administrative jobs that need filling. Currently, Wycliffe has over 200 open management/ administrative jobs worldwide. I have been asked to recruit people to fill these open positions. As you have stood with us as I lead the larger recruitment team, will you also stand with us as I take on this more specialized work? We value your prayers and financial support to do so.
