IN MOSTRA IMAGO MUNDI

Ben 6.500 artisti, oltre 40 Paesi e un unico grande spazio espositivo: la mostra d’arte contemporanea che la Fondazione Benetton farà sbarcare a Trieste sarà uno dei grandi eventi che la città offrirà ai visitatori dal 29 maggio a fine agosto nel Salone degli Incanti – ex Pescheria.

L’esposizione è parte della vera e propria mappatura sullo stato dell’arte mondiale in corso con “Imago Mundi”, un progetto personale di Luciano Benetton che coinvolge 26 mila artisti in tutto il pianeta.

Vengono scelti centinaia di artisti per ogni Paese ai quali viene data la possibilità di esporre in mostre organizzate direttamente dalla Fondazione.

A colorare la grande sala dell’ex Pescheria saranno migliaia di tele, tutte delle dimensioni di 10x12 centimetri, che rappresenta l’unico “limite” imposto dalla Fondazione Studi Ricerche Benetton agli artisti, i quali ricalcano in maniera precisa un messaggio culturale di solidarietà.

Oltre a una sorta di catalogazione dello status quo dell’arte mondiale, questa mostra ha l’obiettivo di promuovere il dialogo tra Paesi diversi: le tele rappresentano infatti particolari registri culturali, frutto delle idee e della creatività di artisti famosi e non. state of the art: the “Imago Mundi” project, Luciano Benetton’s personal enterprise, bringing together 26,000 artists from all over the world.

La presenza dell’esposizione a Trieste è, per Luciano Benetton, particolarmente significativa proprio per la storia e la tradizione della città che può rappresentare uno dei crogiuoli di popoli e culture più autentici che esistano, ancora oggi, in Europa.

The project selects hundreds of artists from different countries and offers them the opportunity to display their work in the Foundation’s exhibits.

Hundreds of canvasses will adorn the majestic hall of the ex Pescheria: the Benetton Studies and Research Foundation has set a size limit of 10x12 cm, only requirement for the selected artists famous or not, who are invited to express their vision of a solidarity message.

Six thousand five hundred artists and more than 40 countries in a single exhibition space: this contemporary art exhibit, to be inaugurated on 29 May in Trieste by the Benetton Foundation, is one of the greatest events that the city will host until the end of August in the prestigious hall of the Salone degli Incanti – ex Pescheria.

While contributing to the global effort of indexing the world art in a new, universal catalogue, this exhibit aims at promoting international dialogue: displayed canvasses offer unique artistic expressions and diverse cultural registers, resulting from each artist’s personal ideas and creativity.

By choosing this particular venue, Luciano Benetton pays tribute to the history and tradition of the city of Trieste as one of Europe’s most important crossroads of peoples and cultures, still embodying the ideal of coexistence to this day.
