GreetingsPeople,

Over 60% of our congregations have SoloPastors with volunteer youth leaders! Several of those churches have faithful and robust youth leadership. We have heard the request for youth to connect across the presbytery or churches where the volunteer leaders want to connect with the larger Presbytery. We have a few upcoming opportunities for you!

1. NCPYouthGatheringonSundayOctober27th. Please see flyer within this TM. You can click HERE to register your size of group. This is to give you a fellowship time with one another, a shared activity as the larger body of Christ, and a chance to learn a bit more about the city!

2. KeepAwakeatMassanetta! November22-24. (See flyer within this TM) This is a great opportunity for Leadership Development and discernment in our denomination...and just a lot of fun! If you are still interested and did not make the group hold cut off, please contact Rev. Tara Spuhler McCabe. There are a few congregations who are bringing one or two youth that can join with others.

3.Please contact Rev. Tara Spuhler McCabe tsP-uhlermccabe@thepresby.tery..org if you are interested in joining a youth leaders training series. This will begin in 2025 focused for those who are volunteering in their churches, who wrestle with multi-age youth programming, and want to meet others to learn helpful tricks and best practices.

AND SAVE THEPLANNING! NCPWideConfirmationbeginsSeptember 2025 throughMay 2026. There will be an informational session (on zoom) February 9th or 10th, 8:00 p.m. More information to come but mark your calendars now. Any parents, pastors, and lay leaders can attend.

The "magic" ingredient is to let each person know they are known and loved by God! This is enhanced through faithful worship, fellowship, teaching, playing...but most importantly so that they know they are loved by God! Let us share in this ministry together.

Peace and Courage, Rev. Tara Spuhler McCabe

2931 JAN Ln N 0 N MISSIONAL ENTREPRENEURSHIP IMMERSION

Wed, January 29, 4:00 PM - Fri, Jan 31, 11:00 AM

Riverside PC/ Ridgetop Coffee and Tea, Sterling, VA

This is deep dive into repurposing your facility for mission, hosted by the Missional Incubator of the National Capital Presbytery and Fresh Expressions US.

What if the best way to connect with people in a diverse and rapidly changing world is not with another church program or better preaching?

Churches just like yours are opening missional businesses, such as workout studios, produce markets, surf shops, indoor play areas, ice cream fountains, game cafes, coffee shops, and more-not just as income-producing businesses, but also to connect and build meaningful relationships in an increasingly disconnected world.

Churches just like yours are repurposing their properties to leverage them, not just for monetization, but also for greater mission impact with a vision for new forms of faith community to emerge. From tiny-home villages to art studios, to day care centers, to nonprofit hubs, and more...your church can shift from a one-day-a-week gathering place for a few church members to a hub of relational connections and new faith communities.

Join us for an immersion experience at Riverside Presbyterian Church. Enjoy coffee and conversation in their coffee shop, Ridgetop Coffee and Tea, and experience for yourself what can happen when a facility becomes a community hub. Learn from leaders who have navigated this shift in their own congregations, and dive into deep discussions with peers who are captivated by this possibility. Take advantage of breakout sessions around the practicalities of this entrepreneurial approach to ministry. Explore Biblical foundations for the mission and engage in whole-hearted worship to reconnect with God's purpose for your life, your leadership, and your church.

Details: Cost: $225 until Jan 6 (price increase to $250). For the first 40 members of the National Capital Presbytery that register the cost is $115 if you use the code "Missionalincubator" when you enroll from the registration page httP-,s://www.eventbrite.com/e/missional-entreP-,reneurshiR-immersion-tickets962039936347

Election Eve Candlelight Vigil for Democracy, Peace and Hope

On 16th Street and Beyond

Monday, November 4 from 5:30-6:30 pm

On the evening before the national election, please join a candlelight standing vigil with houses of worship along 16th Street NW, from the White House to Silver Spring, to shine a light for democracy, peace and hope. All ages are welcome.

Sixteenth Street is DC’s “corridor of faith,” a 6.5-mile thoroughfare lined by nearly 50 houses of worship. In these challenging days of violence, poverty, social inequity, and a bitterly divided nation, DC religious leaders invite people from all religious communities and our neighbors to join us in bearing witness to the love that grounds us as people of faith and good will.

How to Participate:

● Come to your house of faith (or any convenient point) along 16th St., NW by 5:30pm. We especially encourage people to gather at major intersections along 16th St (K St, P/Q St, U St, Harvard St, Meridian Pl, Upshur St, Colorado Av, Kalmia St, Alaska Av, etc.). If you can, please sign up for a particular block here (it doesn’t need to be near your institution). Also, you are welcome to host a vigil at your institution. Please sign up–we’ll list the location. Email Rev. Rob Keithan (rkeithan@allsouls.ws) to sign on.

● Bring candles (real or battery operated), lanterns, flashlights, cell phones etc.

● Feel free to bring signs on cardboard with boldly painted letters expressing your prayers/hopes for our country. This is a positive, non-partisan vigil, so please only bring respectful signs that do not promote or oppose any candidate or party. We encourage you to use democracy, peace, and hope as themes. Learn more by contacting any one of us! And here’s a list of Religious Events near Election Day.

In Faith, Hope and Prayer,

● Rev. Renata Eustis, Pastor, Christ Lutheran Church; 5101 16th St, NW, pastorrenata@christlutherandc.org

● Rachel Geddes, Vicar, Christ Lutheran Church Vicar@christlutherandc.org
