early 300 golfers descended on the Ayr Golf Course on Friday, December 12, for one of the Burdekin Shire’s most anticipated charity events — the 2025 End of Harvest Golf Classic. The much-loved annual event was a resounding
success, raising $37,150 for CORES Queensland, an organisation delivering suicide prevention and early intervention training within the shire and across the state. The funds will support programs that help communities recognise risk, start safe conversations, and connect people with the support they need.
Organised by Kelsey Shand and Ben Smith, the Classic has now raised more than $100,000 for local charities over the years — a milestone achieved during their final year at the helm after almost a decade of leadership.
