I am deeply pleased and honored to congratulate you, Abiding Faith Baptist Church 2024 Beau and Debutantes. You have successfully navigated your way through difficult challenges to reach this significant milestone. We joyfully celebrate you and celebrate with you, and we thank God for your development.

This great event is a mile marker for you to reflect on, to gain strength, and to grow closer to God, as you “Let God’s Light Shine Through You For His Purpose”. This is just the beginning for each of you. If you allow the Lord, He will order your steps and enable you to achieve glorious things in life.

I challenge you today, as you march forward, to aim high in setting your goals, believing in your heart that all things are possible for you. You can reach your destiny, for the Lord is with you and He will empower you to achieve a good and successful life for His Glory!

To the esteemed parents, we congratulate you for the excellent job you have done, bringing up your precious child on Christian principles. They owe so much of their successes and achievements to the Christian love, support and guidance you have shown them. This is only the beginning of your reaping the fruits of your labor.

It is with extreme pleasure and honor that I to present you, the 2024 Beau and Debutantes, to our Church family, to society, and to the world. We pray that you will continue to accomplish the goals the Lord God Almighty has set before you, as you “Let His Light Shine Through You on Purpose – for His Purpose”!

May The Lord continue to guide and keep you!

Cotillion Class of 2024

“He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the LORD Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Isaiah 40:29-31

Believe God’s plans are good because His love, His wisdom, and His power are perfect. He knows what’s best for you and He has the power to bring about the best for you.

Enjoy the journey as much as the destination. Enjoy today for what it offers without worrying about tomorrow. You have a lot to accomplish in life, don’t let anything stop you!!

Introductionofthe2024 DebutantesandBeaus

Debutante Tia Anderson

A miracle was born to Christopher Anderson and Chalita Powell on January 16, 2006, at the Houston Memorial Southwest Hospital, in Houston, Texas. Tia was born a premature baby at 6 months, weighing 1lb. 12oz., with a 50/50 chance of survival. She was on oxygen and a heart monitor for a year, and with continued physical therapy for mobility. Tia overcame all her obstacles and is a true living testimony. In middle school, she took on art classes for 3 years, and is a wonderful artist, which is something she doesn’t give herself much credit for.

She has been employed with Baskin Robbins Company for over a year and enjoys making different types of desserts to bring a smile to customer’s face. Tia is also an A & B student at Stafford High School, and for the last 3 years she has been an avid tennis player, serving on the singles/double’s teams. Their team has gone to district several times within the last few years. In the past, she was a member of the AAU Houston Sonics Youth Track Club, running the 100, 400 meter, and 4x4 400 meter, and she was also a member of the Title Boxing Club. Tia has taken time to help volunteer in community service for the Future Farmers of America, which she is currently a member, and she has a love for all animals.

Tia has applied to over 10 Texas universities and was accepted by 5 universities. She has decided to further her education and accept the college of choice, Texas A & M University-Kingsville, majoring in Animal Science/Pre-Vet, and minor in EMT/Paramedic. Another goal is to become a Doctor of Veterinary and to open her own Veterinarian Hospital. I will let my light shine by, continuing to keep God first in my life, focusing on my education, and spending time with my family.

Beau Kennon Blackshire

Kennon is the son of proud parents Kennon and Joyce Blackshire and the sibling of Briana and Samantha Blackshire. He is a member of Abiding Faith Baptist Church, where he was baptized and has been an active member since he was six years old. Kennon has participated in various youth ministries at Abiding Faith and is currently a Junior Deacon.

In addition to having a strong faith, Kennon is a leader academically at John Foster Dulles High School, where he is classified as a senior with a 3.2 GPA. He is a very active member and the Vice President of the Future Farmers of America (FFA). He has received multiple LDE and CDE Awards, the Star Chapter Farmer Award, the Star Chapter FFA Degree, and the Texas Lone Star FFA Degree, which is the highest degree a high school FFA member can receive in the state of Texas.

Kennon is a loving and caring young man. He enjoys spending time with his family and friends. He loves history, politics, and raising animals. He has raised and shown a lamb, six rabbits, a heifer, and a goat. He has also received awards for showing his rabbits and heifer at the Fort Bend County Fair.

Kennon’s favorite scripture is 2 Corinthians 5:7: For we live by faith, not by sight. It is his faith in God and his strong family bond that has guided him this far, and he plans to continue to rely on this foundation as he pursues his degree at either Prairie View A & M; Houston Christian University, Stephen F. Austin State University, Tarleton State University, or Livingstone College where he has received acceptance for admission.

His parents and family are incredibly proud of him and thank God for blessing them with Kennon and allowing them to be a part of his Christian walk. His light shines everywhere he goes at school, at church and with his friends and family.

Debutante Arianna Davis

Arianna Davis graced her presence March 31st, 2006 to LaToya Bester & Desmond Davis. Arianna is the granddaughter of Bro Herman & Sis Anita Gordon. This year Arianna will be graduating from Hightower High School in May 2024 with a pursuit of obtaining her Real Estate License.

Arianna is a native Houstonian and has excelled scholastically and athletically in Fort Bend ISD. She attended Burton Elementary and Lake Olympia Middle School where she maintained A/B Honor Roll as she gained her love for track & field. In the 5th grade she began running summer track with CL Stars track club where she competed in 100m, 200m, 400m singles and relay teams. In 2016, her 400m relay team placed 7th in the state of Texas at the AAU Junior Olympics in Humble, TX. The following year her 400m relay team competed at USATF Regionals in Abilene, TX and won 4th place.

In the 7th and 8th grade while attending Lake Olympia, Arianna achieved 1st place in Fort Bend ISD in the 100m and 200m singles competition. In addition to track & field, Arianna also attended the Zina Garrison Tennis Academy during the summer. At Hightower High School, Arianna continued to run track in addition to playing Volleyball and Basketball and participated in PALS organization where she mentored elementary students.

In her leisure, Arianna enjoys traveling, cosmetology and creating memories with her three brothers. Arianna is excited about her next chapter as a Realtor and hopes to be of service to the community by assisting African Americans generate wealth with homeownership.

Arianna has achieved great success in her school age years and with the love and support of family and friends we anticipate the momentum to continue into adulthood.

Deb Arianna Davis let’s her light shines everywhere she goes showing kindness to all that she meets.

Debutante Asia Edmund

On December 16, 2005, the proud parents Yolanda Edmund and Oji Edmund were blessed with a beautiful baby girl at St. Joseph Hospital in Houston, Texas; their first and only child, Asia Monea Edmund was born. Asia is blessed with two loving parents, two loving bonus parents, along with her grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and Godparents.

During her elementary school years, Asia was an A-B student at KIPP PEACE College Preparatory school from first grade – fourth grade and KIPP Liberation from fifth grade - eighth grade. While at KIPP Liberation, Asia participated on the track team and the volleyball team. She received several awards for perfect attendance, honor roll and other honorable mentions. After excelling in elementary and middle school, she took her studies to Shadow Creek High School for her 9th and 10th grade years, then transitioned to Hightower High School where she completed her 10th grade -12th grade years.

Throughout Asia’s life, she participated in Girl Scouts of San Jacinto from the age of 7 years old until current. She became a Daisy, Brownie, Junior Cadette, and Senior. She also participated in ICON as a P.E.A.R.L and in the youth organization for Zeta Phi Beta as an Amicette and Archonette.

Asia volunteers at the Houston Food Bank, Star of Hope, MS5K, United Negro College Fund, Feeding the Homeless, Houston Children’s Museum, Cleaning the Houston Parks, and Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church Food Drive. Deb Asia’s light shines brightly as she serves other and as she grows in Christ.

Her favorite bible verse is:

Asia plans to attend Clarke Atlanta University or Prairie View A&M University where she plans to major in medicine and become a pediatrician. Asia is a young lady who loves God and attends Good Hope Missionary Church where Reverend D.Z. Cofield is the pastor.

Debutante Maikayla Harris

Maikayla Kennedy Skyi Harris, born July 1, 2006, is the daughter of Tiffany Richardson and James Harris Il of Houston, Tx.

Maikayla is currently a senior at Ridge Point High School where she is on the A/B Honor Roll, a member of the Black Student Union, and a 4 year member of AVID College Prep. Maikayla has served as President of AIM (Academia in Motion) for the past year. She is a student advocate for Teen Reach with Planned Parenthood of America, and a mentee with PUSH Academy.

Maikayla describes herself as a "Child of God." This Child of God is a member of Word of Restoration International Church and serves in the Youth Choir. Her favorite scripture is Joshua 1:9- “Have I not commanded you be strong and courageous.

Do not be afraid. Don't be discouraged. For the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go.” With a heart for serving others, Maikayla enjoys volunteering for the Houston Food Bank's annual Thanksgiving Superfeast. Maikayla enjoys spending time with family and friends, listening to music, dancing, singing, painting and traveling and these have been her favorite hobbies since childhood.

Beau Keithrick Hebert

Keithrick Jermain Hebert II (KJ) was born to Keithrick Hebert, Sr., and Kiki Carter Hebert on September 17, 2006, at The Methodist Hospital in Sugar Land, Texas. He is the youngest of four children. He is the grandson of Dea. Alvin & Sis. Brenda White. His two older brothers participated in previous AFBC cotillions, and KJ served as the Grand Marshall in the 2013 cotillion.

KJ loved church as a small child and often cried as a toddler when riding past the church saying, “I want to go to church where Jesus at” and often said “that’s Jesus house” when passing by the church on the way to his grandparents’ house. He was baptized by Pastor Morgan when he was six years old and at his baptism dinner after church he asked, “Am I a deacon yet?” He has participated in several youth ministries in the church including youth usher, youth choir, Young Men for Christ, and the junior mimes.

KJ started school at Joshua’s Learning Land by entering pre-k at three years old. He then, attended school in the Fort Bend Independent School District, entering the 1st grade at five years old. KJ is currently a senior at Hightower High School and will be graduating in May.

KJ loved football and wrestling when he was younger. He later then fell in love with basketball. He played AAU basketball from the sixth through eleventh grade and was a member of the Hightower basketball team in his sophomore year. He loves to draw and design and will be pursuing his degree in graphic design or architecture when he enters college this Fall. He currently works for his parents after school and on weekends at the family business and he is looking forward to a very bright future.

Beau KJ’s light shines as he grows to be more like Jesus each and everyday!

Beau Stephen Parker

Stephen Anthony Parker was born December 30, 2005 in Houston, TX. He is the son of Charles Parker and Stephanie Hope, the oldest grandson of Deacon Shelton and Sister Rebecca Hope and the nephew of Hasane and Ashley Bledsoe.

He joined Abiding Faith in 2007 and has been a faithful member. Stephen is a drummer for the Mighty Sounds of Joy, the Male Chorus, and JVOP Choir. He is also the director of the Amplified Voices Praise and Worship team at Abiding Faith Baptist Church.

Stephen attended Montgomery Elementary School, Yellowstone College Prep for Middle School and is currently a senior at Westside High School where he will be graduating from in June 2024. At Westside, he is known as Pastor Steve because he loves to preach to all who will listen. He is a part of the Christians on Campus Club and was a part of the Black History Program student board. Stephen plans to attend Houston Community College after graduation and then transfer to Winston Salem State University to pursue a bachelor’s degree in mass communications. He wants to become a Sports Broadcaster with his sights set on work at ESPN or Fox Sports.

Stephen currently has two podcasts. The Impact Show which is a Christian Podcast and The S.K. Originals which is a sports podcast. He has been a member of the Jackie Smith and YDM Community Choir for ten years. He has had an opportunity to sing with Donald Lawrence, Dorinda Clark-Cole, Kathy Taylor, Rise Joiner, Kirisma Evans and the Thompson Community singers.

Stephen’s favorite scripture is Lamentations 3:22-23

“It is of the Lord's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness.”

He lets his light shines by hosting bible study with his friends and making others laugh while encouraging them to love the Lord.

Beau Billy Ray Simmons III

A blessing was given to Reverend Billy and Taiam Simmons on February 10, 2006, at Texas Women’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, their only son and sonshine, Billy Ray Simmons III. Billy is the oldest grandson of Assistant Pastor Horace and Rosemary Price and the youngest grandchild of Billy and Patsy Simmons. He is the oldest nephew of 2001 Beau Horace Price, Jr. and the only brother of 2019 Debutante Dawnyale Smith. He is also the brother of Mikaylia Carter.

Throughout elementary, middle, and high school, Billy excelled in schoolwork, earning him a place on the A and B honor roll. He attended Parker Elementary and learned to play the piano. He continued his education in the Alvin Independent School District and maintained his honor roll status. While in high school, Billy became an entrepreneur and began designing a clothing brand. The brand, Before Christ, has now flourished into an online company.

Volunteering is one way Billy lets his light shine and seeks to give back to the community. He has volunteered at the Houston Food Bank through the Hope of Harvest internship and through the Cotillion. Billy excelled in many extracurricular activities while in high school. He ran track and cross country at Manvel High School. He also participated in engineering and welding courses. Billy will graduate from high school with his Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) certification. Billy also knows how to play tennis and golf. He simultaneously attends Manvel High School, Alvin Community College, and the Houston Community College. He will graduate high school with at least 30 college credit hours.

Currently, Billy has been accepted into three colleges, the University of Houston, Houston Christian University and Sam Houston State University. He has been offered an $80,000 scholarship at one of the three institutions. Billy plans to obtain a business degree with an emphasis in Entrepreneurship at the University of Houston Main Campus. This degree will assist in his aspiration of being an entrepreneur and expanding his portfolio.

Billy is a young man who holds his relationship with God in high regard. Billy’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 40:8, “The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God shall stand forever.” As he matures, he will continue his spiritual growth because he understands that with God, all things are possible!

Beau Braedon Thompson

Braeden Anthony Thompson, born on April 17, 2006, at Woman’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, is the youngest son of Anthony and Shante Thompson. He grew up alongside his two older brothers, Corey, and Blake. From an early age, Braeden displayed a diverse range of interests, showing aptitude in athletics, creativity, and entrepreneurship.

During his schooling at Palmer Elementary and Lake Olympia Middle School, Braeden consistently achieved academic success, earning recognition for his placement on the A-B honor roll. Alongside his academic achievements, he also excelled on the sports field, particularly in football and baseball.

His football talents were recognized early on as he was selected to the all district team as a sophomore at Ft Bend Elkins High School and during his time at Lamar High School, where he received 1st Team All-District honors as a senior. In addition to football, Braeden's prowess extended to baseball, where he was selected local to AllStar and Select Teams, participating in competitions across the nation.

However, it was during his junior year in high school that Braeden's entrepreneurial spirit truly flourished when he founded his own brand, Geekboyz Global. The brand quickly gained recognition on a national scale, with notable artists and influencers proudly wearing its creations.

After receiving an offer for an athletic scholarship at Midwestern State University, Braeden made the decision to pursue his passion for fashion. He will commence his fashion education at Houston Community College, with aspirations of attending the renowned Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City to further hone his skills in fashion design.

Throughout his journey, Braeden attributes his success and drive to his faith and family, with God serving as a guiding force in his life as he navigates his future endeavors in the fashion industry. His favorite bible verse is: Philippians 4:13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me Braeden we are so proud of you and the things that you have and will accomplish in your life.

Beau Xavier Trahan

Xavier Rashard Trahan was born on April 13, 2006, in Houston, Texas at Memorial Southwest Hospital. He has two siblings, Taylor Landry and Calvin Trahan. He is the grandson of the late Calvin Brinkley and Deborah Brinkley and the great nephew of Sandra Price.

Xavier is an active member of Abiding Faith Baptist Church, where, before the pandemic, he serves as a junior usher and participates in the Young Men for Christ. He regularly attended Sunday School where he was awarded a certificate for high attendance. He eagerly wants to continue serving in these areas as God calls him to serve.

He is in the eleventh grade at Thurgood Marshall High in the Fort Bend Independent School District. He has been highlighted as student of the month. All of his instructors love his bubbly personality and good manners.

Swimming, fishing, playing computer games, listening to all types of music are only a few of Xavier’s hobbies. He loves watching a variety of movies with his family and friends and playing basketball and football with them. He also enjoys bowling, traveling, and eating out at restaurants while on vacation and locally with his family.

Upon graduation from high school, Xavier plans to attend college, but he is not yet sure of what his major will be. He wants to be a very successful black man who makes a difference as he impacts this world. He is trusting God’s plan for his life.

Beau Zachery Walker

Beau Zachery Walker, a junior at Ridge Point High School, excels both academically and athletically. Zachery Walker, a rising star in the world of basketball. Hailing from Ridge Point High School, Zachery's athletic journey began on the football field, where he showcased his talents for two formidable years. However, it's on the basketball court where Zachery truly shines. As a pivotal player for the renowned TJ Ford Academy, he has honed his skills to compete at the highest level. With multiple championship victories under his belt and a relentless drive for success. As a dedicated basketball player, Zachery has been selected to play on multiple AAU and select teams where he showcases his skills on the court. Zachery's commitment to education is evident through his membership in the National Honor Society. With a commendable GPA of 3.24, he has consistently maintained his position on the A and B honor roll throughout his high school years. Zachery's passion for learning and his strong work ethic have propelled him to achieve remarkable results in his studies. Beyond academics, he is determined setting his sights on future academic and personal accomplishments. In Zachery’s spare time he has committed to over 20 hours of coaching and mentoring in the Fort Bend Ymca. Born to Monique and Robert Walker, he is driven to achieve success in all aspects of his life. Zachery has also demonstrated a strong commitment to his community through volunteer work, he has volunteered over 72 hours of community work at the Houston Food Bank, and currently still goes to support the community. Zachery’s favorite bible verse is Galatians 6:9, “Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.”

Debutante Khori White

Khouri White was born on August 3rd, 2006 to Clifton and Kiesha White. She is sister to former Deb Donyae Kelly and granddaughter to Mr. and Mrs. Emmett and Margie Johnson. From an early age, Khouri has always been a very outgoing, congenial, and athletic child. At the age of 5, she was crowned as the Silverlake Church Toddler of the Year where she has been a member all her life. In elementary school, Khouri begin to venture into sports. She excelled at cheerleading, volleyball, dance, and basketball, all while shining in the classroom throughout grade school and serving as Class President and Homecoming Queen. She continued to participate in each of these sports into her middle school years, with her primary focus set on basketball. Khouri has played basketball for 12 years and traveled all over competing at an elite level. It is through her unwavering faith in God and her perseverance that has allowed her to maintain a 3.6 grade point average. She will be graduating from Lamar High School this June and will be attending Louisburg College in North Carolina to play basketball and further her education.

Debutante Amaya Yates

Amaya Jaylyn Yates. On December 20th, 2006 at the Houston Methodist Sugar Land Hospital, Celeste and I were blessed with our first child, Amaya. Throughout Amaya's elementary and middle school years, she was an A-B honor roll student. Amaya is now attending Shadow Creek High School where she is an all-A honor roll student, a third-year swim team member, a second-year National Honors Society member, and a second year cosmetology student working on completing her cosmetology license. Amaya not only excels academically but also creatively. Her Auntie Stella tapped into Amaya's creative side when she introduced her to sewing and crafts. She loves making designs on Crocs, creating art on tote bags, baking and my favorite making homemade ice cream. Throughout high school, Amaya has attended various workshops teaching her how to be a true leader and has been awarded numerous awards along the way. Amaya has volunteered more than 600 community service hours throughout her time in high school and will continue to do so in the future. She is also a camp counselor for elementary-age children who look to her for guidance and instruction. Amaya is also a wonderful role model to my other amazing daughter, Alanna. I think that Alanna feeds off of Amaya's energy. It is such a treat to see both of them singing and dancing with each other in the house and in the car. Deb Amaya is a member of Abiding Faith Baptist church. She was baptized by Pastor Bobby Morgan. She has been serving as a youth usher for the past two years. Her favorite bible verse is Proverbs 31:25. "She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future. After high school, Amaya plans to get a degree in mechanical engineering at the University of Oklahoma, where she will then use her cosmetology license to be a hair chemist and develop hair products. Amaya is a young woman who looks to the Lord for help in every situation. She plans to continue attending church and live by the word of God.

Justice Devan Johnson

Is 4 years old and will be starting Pre-K in the fall, he is the son of Jordan (Beau 2009) and Chasity Johnson, the youngest grandchild to Brother and Sister E. Johnson.

His favorite hobbies include playing with ninja turtles and playing baseball with his older brother Jordan Johnson Jr., who is his best friend. Justice loves attending Abiding Faith children church and learning about God's Love. He knows a lot for a 4 year old, very talkative and has a remarkable memory. He is also the 1st cousin to this years Deb Khouri White. Justice Devan Johnson, future Abiding Faith Beau.

Yari Harris

She is 4 years old, in Pre Kindergarten and attends school at Isaacs Elementary. She is very ambitious in achieving the highest grades in academics. She loves the color purple, she loves to dance and sing, she loves to make others laugh. Yari is the Daughter of Tiara Harris, granddaughter of Angela Harris and Dion Walter, great granddaughter of Katie and Clifton Chilis.

Zachary Miller 2024 Grand Marshall

Zachary Isaiah Miller was born April 10, 2009. Zachary is the sixth child out of seven siblings. Zachary attends Killough Middle School in eighth grade, he also attended Owens Intermediate and Shadowbriar Elementary School. His favorite subject is Reading. His hobbies are basketball, video games and watching TV. He has a love for animals as well, his plan is to become a veterinarian one day his dream is really to become a NBA player. He desire is to attend LSU where he wants to play basketball and become a veterinarian. Zachary Miller is the one and only son of Bro. Eric Banks and Mrs. Zelphia Banks and grandson of Lelia Banks.

Erin Miller

Erin Jonea Miller was born July 2, 2012, she’s the last of seven siblings. Erin graduated from Shadowbriar Elementary School to move on in sixth grade at Westbriar Middle School. Erin loves to sing, dance, also she loves to act. One day she wants to have her own horse so she can go horseback riding. She’s also the daughter of Bro. Eric Banks and Mrs. Zelphia Banks also granddaughter of Lelia Banks.
