59th Europeade NUORO

24 - 28 July 2024

Evaluation Europeade

As in previous years, we would like you to evaluate this Europeade. The evaluations of the various participants in this Europeade allow us to make the Europeade even better for all participants and for the organisation. After the Europeade, you will find a link to the evaluation for groups on the Europeade website, WWW.EUROPEADE.EU. We would ask you to complete this evaluation digitally as soon as you get home, to ensure we will have received all evaluations by Sunday 8th September 2024. Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

If printed version, use this page during the Europeade to make notes of anything you consider important for your evaluation.

Dear friends,

Introduction

Welcome to this 59th Europeade for European Folk Culture in Nuoro - Italy.

This document contains information relating to all events. The details about the various performances of your group can be found in your individual stage sheet, which you receive at check-in on Wednesday.

Read this folder through carefully and please observe the guidelines.

Only then can this Europeade run smoothly and become a success for everyone.

118 groups from different European regions are participating! We would like to thank the groups and all those who have made efforts to organise joint performances with their region. In this way, all the groups are offered an opportunity to present themselves, while keeping the events within a reasonable duration at the same time.

Every dance group will have the opportunity to perform at least once during one of the two major events (Opening or Closing Event), either on their own or together with other groups from their region. The duration of this performance is strictly limited to 3 minutes for everyone! We urge you not to exceed this allocated time for your performance!

There will be the Children's and Youth Concert on Thursday and the Music Concert and Choir Concert on Friday. The duration of these performances can be found in the respective programmes.

During the days of the Europeade, your group can also give other individual performances in Nuoro, in accordance with the wishes you entered in the online registration. These performances are scheduled to take place at different locations in the city on Thursday, Friday and/or Saturday, and

are organised by the stage management. A general overview of all locations is to find in this document. The shows that have been allocated to your group are specified on your personal stage sheet.

If you are unable to perform a planned show for some reason, please inform the stage management in due time, to ensure that other arrangements can be made.

Finally, all groups will participate in the festive parade on Saturday, 27th of July 2024 from 18.00 to 19.30. Information on the parade is also available in this folder and on your stage sheet.

Regions that are planning a rehearsal in the Stadio Communale Frogheri for their joint performance with the other groups from their region should check and confirm this to the Stage management by Wednesday, 24th of July 2024 at the latest during the check-in. Individual rehearsals are not allowed for organisational reasons. Any other arrangements in connection with your individual performances should also be reported to the stage management. This team will be available on Wednesday, 24th of July 2024 from 09.00 to 19.00 during the registration at Centro Commerciale Pratosardo, Zona Industriale Prato Sardo NU, GPS: 40.32757,9.28402.

For any questions regarding stage management and programming, please call Hilde Gielis (BE) +32 476 701 387, or send an email to info@europeade.eu.

We wish you all a pleasant stay and every success for this 59th Europeade.

The time slots of the performances are listed above. The enclosed “Street Performances” programme on the website www.europeade.eu your individual stage sheet show which groups have to be ready to perform where and at what time.

The Europeade groups that have requested this will be able to present a 20-minute dance programme in various streets and squares.

A representative from the local committee will be on site to issue final instructions, if necessary. You can also ask this person any questions you might still have.

Musicians are asked to provide their own chair and music stand if they need it.

Each performance must be limited to maximum 15 minutes. Please observe this requirement out of respect for the other groups. The remaining 5 minutes are to accommodate the next group, to give them the opportunity to take up their allocated, precise positions.

Opening and closing

OPENING EVENT

Stadio Communale Frogheri

Thursday, 25th of July 2024 at 19.30

CLOSING EVENT

Stadio Communale Frogheri

Sunday, 28th of July 2024 at 17.30

No drinks in glass may be consumed in the stadium.

The groups that are not performing are invited to take their places in the stands that have been reserved for the groups. The other stands are exclusively reserved for the public, the press and guests.

Please check before your departure that your online registration for the musicians is filled in correctly and completely.

There is 1 dance platform divided by 5 dance floors 12 x 12m dance stages (A,B,C,D,E) – see the plan below.

The groups that are performing gather at the entrance of the stadium (arrows: “Backstage”). Dancers, musicians, flag wavers and other group members must stay together. There, they will be met by members of the stage management team, who will accompany the groups.

Please report in plenty of time!

The musicians will be directed to their location on the music stage first, together with the groups that will perform immediately before your group. This will give the technicians a

chance to assess how and where they should position, tune, etc. the microphones.

There are two music stages where the musicians of the dancing groups will provide the musical accompaniment for their group. You will have visual contact with your group of dancers, and monitors are installed at the music and dance stages. The musicians will enter and leave these music stages via separate entrances and exits. The musicians who accompany the performing groups will remain standing.

Never take instrument cases onto the stages, or leave them at the entrance or exits of the stages. Sufficient space is provided in the assembly area in the Backstage where instrument cases can be safely left.

There are 2 entrances to get to the dance stages and 2 exits to leave after the performance. These entrance/exits are indicated on the relevant programs, and are clearly marked on the provided map. A member of the stage management will accompany you to the right location.

After the show, and after leaving the dance stages, the groups must make their way to their designated seats by following the signposted route. Please do not disturb the public by walking up and down in front of the public.

As always, the programs is divided into blocks, in which the 5 dance stages will be used, either by groups from the same region or by groups from different regions. The groups will enter and exit per block, sometimes accompanied by music performed by 1 regular music group, sometimes accompanied by music played by a soloist. Your musicians may also be asked to perform one piece of music as a transition.

If your group is performing in a block with other groups, please await your turn on the dance stage allocated to you, and,

after your performance, stay on your dance stage until all the other groups have finished. You will then leave the stage together with the other groups. While you are waiting, we kindly ask you to remain seated and to watch the performance of the other groups.

Please do not waste precious time between performances. Your musicians will already be waiting for you at the microphones; they will enter the stage together with the previous block of groups. The stage management team will give your musicians the signal to start. Your performance represents a brief greeting from your folk community.

Please adhere strictly to the allocated time of 3 minutes! No deviations can be permitted.

If you exceed the allocated time, the amplification will be irrevocably switched off, and the next group will be asked to start their show. We apologise for this measure, but please understand that we have to keep the overall event within the allocated time.

Music on tape, CD, MD or other digital music media is not permitted. Use of electronic instruments requiring an electrical connection must be notified to the stage management team in advance (using the ‘online musicians registration form’) to ensure that the sound engineers can make the necessary arrangements.

Our stage assistants are available at the entrances and exits to assist you with the microphones, your entry and exit, etc. The entrances and exits will be clearly marked. May we ask you to kindly follow all the instructions from the stage assistant?

Interlude groups:

If you are a member of an Interlude Group, you will be playing music each time a complete block of dancers leaves the stage and another block is preparing to perform. Our stage assistant will give your conductor the sign to start.

Once the new block has taken up their positions on all the dance stages, our stage assistant will again give the conductor a sign to stop playing interlude music. You, as the conductor, give your musicians the sign when to end/interrupt the music. Please finish by completing the music bar you had already started to play.

Please choose varied but easy listening music pieces that make it easy for dancers to walk on and off the stage.

Please remain in your place while the dancing groups are performing. Sometimes these periods will be short (e.g. 3 minutes when an entire region performs), sometimes longer (e.g. 15 minutes when 5 different dancing stages offer separate programmes). Please inform your musicians accordingly to avoid confusion.
