We are thrilled to share that the Wenatchee Valley Museum and Cultural Center has reached 65% of its fundraising goal for our transformative museum and exhibit re-design project! This incredible milestone would not be possible without the generous support of our donors thank you for believing in our vision. We’re also excited to announce that we’ve secured critical state funding, bringing us even closer to reimagining a space that celebrates our region’s rich history and vibrant culture.
In this newsletter, we’re excited to not only unveil new renderings of the redesigned building and exhibits, but also highlight the expanded educational and youth programming this project will make possible for our community
Goal: $15,000,000
Progress: 65%
Reaching the 65% mark is a major achievement for our campaign, but important work still lies ahead. Over the next year, we will continue working to secure the remaining funding, find a safe and suitable location to temporarily house our 80,000-item collection, and identify an interim space where the Museum can continue serving the community during construction.
Thank you for your continued support as we build a museum for the future—together.
Donor Spotlight- Senator Linda Evans Parlette
As a lifelong advocate of our region’s history, culture, and community, I enthusiastically support the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center’s “Branch Out Campaign.” Have you had the opportunity to learn about it? What I am most excited about is the proposed additional entrance facing Centennial Park and Wenatchee Avenue. It is so “inviting!” I love the photos of the proposed “Ice Age Theater and “Coyote’s Corner.” By enhancing exhibits, expanding educational programs, and improving facilities, we are investing in a space that brings our community together, inspires curiosity, and fosters a deep appreciation for our past.
Local support truly gets the attention of other potential donors, including state legislators and many who are doing estate planning. Please consider joining me in becoming a donor. Preserving our history today means strengthening our future tomorrow.
Senator Linda Evans Parlette represented the 12 Legislative District on the Washington State Senate for three four-year terms after serving four years in the House of Representatives She is a longtime Museum supporter and active Rotarian
Exhibits: Miller-Freer Trading Post
Exciting progress is underway as we develop the Miller Fur Trading Post exhibit! With a schematic design now in place, this interactive experience will transport visitors back to the early days of regional trade, offering engaging hands-on components that bring history to life
Guided by a committee of local historians and experts, including Ron Lodge, Darold Wax, Dr. Fred Deal, Ann Deal, Bev Jagla, Gretchen Woods, and Chris Rader, this project is fully supported to ensure accuracy and authenticity. We’re thrilled to be collaborating with Luci Creative, a nationally recognized exhibit design firm, to create an immersive, educational experience for all ages. Your support makes exhibits like these possible. Stay tuned for updates as we bring this important piece of Wenatchee Valley’s history to our community!
State Commits $5.1M to Museum Expansion —A Transformational Step
Forward!
We’re thrilled to share exciting news: the Wenatchee Valley Museum & Cultural Center has secured $5.1 million in state funding to support our ambitious expansion and renovation project. This major investment, awarded through competitive state programs including Heritage Capital Projects, Youth Recreational Facilities, Building Communities Fund, and Building for the Arts, marks a powerful endorsement of our shared vision for a more inclusive, accessible, and community-centered Museum.
Thanks to generous public support and early commitments from private donors like you, our capital campaign is gaining strong momentum. These partnerships are the result of years of planning, listening, and collaboration—and we’re just getting started.
The expansion will modernize our two historic buildings, improve accessibility, and add engaging new exhibits and spaces for families and children. It also positions the Museum as a hub for regional culture, supporting heritage organizations across North Central Washington.
Your continued support is critical as we take these bold next steps thank you for believing in this vision.
A transformative leap forward for our education
Meet Christine Morgan, our new Capital Campaign Manager
I’m excited to bring my passion for nonprofit collaboration to this transformative project in the region I’ve called home for over 20 years. With more than 30 years of experience in the nonprofit sector including nearly a decade as Executive Director of Icicle Fund—I’ve partnered with over 200 arts, history, and conservation organizations across north central Washington I’ve seen firsthand how strong regional institutions can empower local communities
My connection to WVMCC spans more than a decade as a member, parent, strategic planning participant, funder, and patron. Only recently have I come to fully appreciate the depth and reach of its programs not just in Wenatchee, but in smaller communities like my hometown of Leavenworth.
This project excites me on many levels: the expanded experiences for all ages, immersive exhibits, improved accessibility, year-round art displays, and welcoming indoor and outdoor gathering spaces. Most of all, I’m inspired by how deeply this project is rooted in the voices and aspirations of the people whose stories will be shared here.
I invite you to join me, WVMCC leadership, and fellow supporters in making this visionary Museum and Cultural Center a reality for our entire region

The Museum’s upcoming remodel will double the designated classroom space. This means we will be able to host multiple educational programs simultaneously and participants will have the freedom to be messy and imaginative because the space no longer will be shared with museum exhibit visitors. We will be able to accommodate weekday learning programs tailored for homeschool groups and school districts as well as after school programs. With new dedicated space and enhanced instructor capacity we will also be able to better meet the community demand for the increasingly popular robotics & coding programs
Expanding our education services cannot wait Even though we desperately need space, the need to increase our after-school robotics program right now is even greater We are launching a middle school robotics after-school program This program will serve middle school students who don’t have access to the program at their school and will provide more local competition opportunities for those schools that do
