Location : Tarutung, Tapanuli Utara

Area : 1,6 ha

Indonesia has various tribal and ethnic groups that havetheirowncharacteristicsandculture.TheBatak tribe is one of the tribes in Indonesia whose majority liveontheislandofSumatra.

The Toba Batak tribe itself has a diverse cultural heritage and is the identity of the tribe. One of these cultural legacies is the beauty of traditional woven fabrics.

As time goes by, the use of ulos is no longer limited to traditional activities only. Ulos is starting to be combined into more contemporary crafts and fashion. This encourages an increase in the selling valueoftheulosthemselvesandsupportsthebeauty

01. SUN ANALYSIS

The site is oriented east-west. To avoid direct exposure to sunlight, it is recommended that the building face northsouth.Buildingareasthatareexposedtodirectsunlightcan use sunshading or Vitrase and the addition of protective vegetation.

02. WIND ANALYSIS

The site is surrounded by buildings which cause the wind directiontobeunstable.However,accordingtoBMKGdata, thewinddirectioncomesfromthesouthwestandnortheast. The shape of the building is arranged with a central courtyard which becomes a wind area and maximizes wind receptionforventilation.

VIEW ANALYSIS

The front and back areas of the site have good views. Buildings that have tourist functions are directly connected to the main circulation (main road). Apart from that, the southernpartisricefieldsownedbyresidentswhichgivesa coolimpression.Themaindoorisdesignedtofacewest.

04. VEGETATION ANALYSIS

The site is surrounded by offices, residents' houses and several community agricultural lands. On the site there is notmuchshadytreevegetationsoitisnecessarytoaddand arrangevegetation.

05. CIRCULATION ANALYSIS

The design location is on Jl. Guru Mangaloksa has two vehiclessoitisveryeasytoaccess.Thisdesignlocationcan beaccessedusingprivatevehiclesintheformofmotorbikes andcars,publictransportationintheformofbusesandcan alsobeaccessedbyheavyvehicles.

NOISE ANALYSIS

The site has one main road section (JL. Guru MangaloksaSisingamangarajasection)whichproducesthehighestnoise fromvehicleactivity.

On the site, the buildings are arranged using the Toba Batak village principle. The buildings are arranged lengthwise facing each other, leaving an open spaceinthemiddleasa plaza. The entrance is orientedeast-west.

D'hayana Room

Architecture : Behavioral Architecture

Location : Jalan Harmonika Baru, Medan, Sumatera Utara

Area : 1000 m2

A fast-paced and uncertain lifestyle affects many aspects of human life, such as work, study, household,etc.Theveryhighdemandsofworkand studycausepeopletospendmoretimeworkingand almostnotimeresting.Thislifestyleisastimulusor mentalhealthissuethathumansmustrespondto.

In response to the mental health problems stated byWHO,aplatformisneededforhumanstorelieve boredom and release their inner emotions. One example is a public space which functions as a contemplative space, namely a space for someone to express emotions, get closer to God, and a place foratemporarybreak.

D'Hayana is taken from Sanskrit, meaning meditation or contemplation. Dhayana is a continuationofDharanawhichmeansconcentration or concentration. Space is the gap between four pillars which becomes a cavity that is bounded and surroundedbyaplane.

02. WIND ANALYSIS

The site is surrounded by buildings and oil palm plantations which cause the wind direction to be unstable. However, according to BMKG data, the wind direction comes from the southwest and northeast. The buildings are arranged in a circle that can trap the wind. This functions to cool the outerandinnerspaces.

03. VEGETATION ANALYSIS

The site is surrounded by residents' houses and several community agricultural lands. There is a lot of shady tree vegetation on the site so there is no need to add and arrange vegetation.

04. CIRCULATION ANALYSIS

The design location is on Jalan Harmonika Baru, Medan, North Sumatra which has two vehicle flows that are very easy to access. This design location can be accessed using private vehicles in theformofmotorbikesandcars.

05. NOISE ANALYSIS

The site has one main road (Harmonika Baru road, Medan, North Sumatra) which produces the highest noise from vehicle activity. However, the area is in a residential corner area and close to plantations whichproducesaquietatmosphere.

This Bamboo Monument is an idea that produces a design that means achievement, innovation and sustainability at the Faculty of Engineering, University of North Sumatra (USU).

The seven departments within the FT USU (Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering,IndustrialEngineering,ChemicalEngineering, ArchitecturalEngineering,andEnvironmentalEngineering) are symbolized through the seven bamboo frames that form the entire lantern frame. These seven frames are anchored to the middle frame, making it a single unit. Not

This monument was built around the study area for chemical engineering, civil engineering and architectural engineeringwhichisclosetothecenteroftheengineeringfaculty.Apartfrombeingamonumentoridentityfor the engineering faculty, this monument is also a public area for students, especially engineering students, to interactwitheachother.

The base of the bamboo monument is taken directly from the shape of the gear and the logo of the engineering faculty of the University of North Sumatra. The shape of the gear becomes the basic base and continues with the shape of the tube.

Mixed-use buildings are multi-functional buildings consisting of one or several building masses that are integrated and directly interconnected with different functions.

ThisbuildingwasnamedMeratahwhichistakenfromthe Karo language which means green. This is in line with the theme used in this building, namely Green Tower and Tropical Architecture. This building is one of the green buildingsinMedanCity.

The area of this building site is ± 26,000 m², located betweenJl.PerintisIndependenandJl.GreenPrincess.This areaissurroundedbycommercialbuildingssuchashotels, shoppingcenters,offices,etc.Thisbuildingislocatedona roadthathasahighlevelofactivity.

In line with the building theme, namely the green tower and tropical architecture. This building applies a design concept that saves energy and adapts to tropical climate conditions.

The building is designed with 2 towers which have a curved shapeasawindchannelandbuildingcooling.

The site is surrounded by commercial buildings. The potential view is very large because the site is on a street corner.Thisaffectsthesetbackandthemassofthebuilding being pushed back so that the building can be seen fully withoutcreatingafeelingofmass.Inareasthathaveadirect viewoftheroad,itisdesignedtobeopenortransparent.

The site is surrounded by commercial and office buildings. On the site there is not much shady tree vegetation so it is necessarytoaddandarrangevegetation.

ThedesignlocationisbetweenJl.PioneersofIndependence andJL.PutriHijauwhichhasonestream.Thedesignlocation atanintersectionresultsinthedesignoftheentrancebeing kept away from each intersection to avoid traffic jams. The location can be accessed using private vehicles in the form of motorbikes and cars, public transportation in the form of buses.

The site is in the center of commercial activity causing a lot of human and vehicle activity at this location. The biggest noise comes from the west as the most active road section (Jl. Perintis Independen). The building is set back and commercial space is positioned in the rear area to avoid noise.
