RING RETRIEVAL

During a sailing, Mrs Martin fell into despair as she accidentally dropped her wedding ring into the ocean during an island stop-off. Thinking it was gone forever, taken by the ocean waves, she succumbed to hopelessness of ever finding it again. That was until Seabourn’s crew members took a chance to dive into the depths and retrieve the ring from the abyss. It was reunited with its owner back on-board, much to her surprise.

Driving into the Monaco marina in my private transfer, I spotted a tender boat gently bobbing into the dock and a handful of people waiting in the shade to step aboard, aided by staff in crisp white uniforms. WE’VE BEEN ON-BOARD SEABOURN VENTURE 1

Seabourn Venture is Seabourn’s first ultra-luxury, all-veranda suite Expedition ship, purposebuilt for diverse environments and capabilities. With a new design, on-board features and exciting destinations in remote regions - I was really looking forward to getting on-board and exploring more of what this ship has to offer.

I joined Seabourn Venture in Leith, Edinburgh, where I was greeted at the port and the crew took care of my luggage while I headed to the Colonnade for a light bite. The ship features six dining options as well as the standard room service included with Seabourn.

SETTLING INTO MY VERANDA SUITE

I stayed in a Veranda Suite during my sailing. The ship offers 132 all-veranda, all ocean-front suites, so no matter where you stay you can enjoy private outdoor space which is perfect for capturing every moment you travel. My suite included a living space and queen-sized bed as well as a walkin wardrobe, fully-stocked bar, spacious bathroom with bath and shower, as well as use of my own robes and slippers while relaxing.

EXPLORING THE BRITISH ISLES

One of the key features of expedition cruising is the destinations you're able to visit and my itinerary offered insights into some stunning areas of the UK.

Here are just a few of my port highlights:

Cromarty Firth – Here we took a shore excursion to Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle.

Kirkwall – As the capital of the Orkney Islands, here we explored the Rings of Brodgar and the quaint town of Stromness, followed by a trip to the Mull Head Nature Reserve for bird watching.

Fair Isle – I enjoyed kayaking here while spotting puffins, guillemots and seals in the skies and sea. We also took a Zodiac excursion to a nearby cliff to watch the puffins swooping above.

Mousa & the Isle of Noss and Lerwick – Here we took trips to the ancient Broch, explored the nature reserves and met local Shetland ponies.

TRULY UNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE

My time on-board Seabourn Venture really opened my eyes to how beautiful the British Isles are and the wildlife and landscapes they have to offer.
