SHOPPING I DE COMPRAS

Welcome to GRAN CANARIA

JANUARY I ENERO 2020

Last November saw the opening of Mogan Mall, the new shopping centre situated in Puerto Rico, in the municipality of Mogán. It is a spectacular project promoted by Fund Grube, Canfoto and Grupo Número 1, who together have invested some 60 million euros to bring it to life.

Mogan Mall: the trendiest shopping centre in Gran Canaria

■ The Mogan Mall Shopping Centre met its deadlines and opened its doors last November, and has exceeded all the expectations of its visitors. It is not only highly impressive for its 18,000 square metres of facilities, 71 shopping premises and 15 restaurants, but for its modern, open aesthetic design, packed with many details that make visitors stop in their tracks and take in some titanic structures, namely the stunning fountain and hanging statues that leave a lasting impression indeed. The south of the island was crying out for a place like this. In the words of Ruth Casillas, manager at Mogan Mall, “the way we have got things going has been amazing. We are very grateful for the response that the tourists, and especially the local residents, have given us. We have received a lot of feedback from them thanking us for setting up the shopping centre here, as the local population really needed a traditional shopping centre in the area, with all top brands at their fingertips, including a SuperDino supermarket which is wonderful, and a superb range of restaurants. Everything is going really smoothly. In the mornings tourists are our main clients, who generally walk to the centre; then in the afternoon it is the turn for local residents who come along in their cars”. One of the main features of Mogan Mall is its open layout, with large walkways, terraces, and above all large shopping areas. For example, Fund Grube has its largest outlet here in Mogan Mall. Its shop here is the flagship and beacon with which Fund Grube wishes to set the pace for its chain of shops, offering everything from footwear and clothing to perfumes and leather goods. Other leading brands such as Pull & Bear, Bershka, Stradivarius, Lefties, Levi´s, Vans, Mango, Timberland,

and an area for recentlysqueezed juices. It also has a greater flexibility in its opening hours, now from Monday through to Sunday. Salsa, Natura, RKS, Encuentro Moda, Lacoste, JD Sports, Base Sports have all put their trust in Mogan Mall. It is a truly powerful commercial mix related to the world of fashion, set up all around its 37,000 square metres. For this and many other reasons, Mogan Mall has become a real sensation here at the south of Gran Gran Canaria. There are only a precious few premises that are yet to open, and in the time it has taken to write this article Ruth Casillas confirms to us that “January is going to be key because practically all the premises will be occupied. We are opening two new cafes, a hairdresser’s, a Vodafone shop, a jeweller’s and several restaurants. There is the odd place still to be opened but the shopping centre will be set up just as it was planned to be, or even better: the SuperDino supermarket has brought forward its opening time to 08:30 in the morning so that all tourists and local clients can get hold of any fresh product they wish”. There is no doubt that SuperDino covers a basic need at the south of the south of Gran Canaria: it is a supermarket that covers over 1,000 square metres, offering a huge range of products, plus a butcher’s, fishmonger’s, bodega, perfume department and three bakery stalls. The shop also boasts an ecological product section, a sushi section, a ham section

This shopping, walking, restaurant and meeting area has created a huge central fountain that is a captures the attention of youngsters and grown-ups, with jets of water that shoot out to the rythym of music and lasers providing a visual feast of light and colour. This fountain –the largest to have been made in the Canaries, measuring 30 metres wide with a pool covering around 300 square metres which projects images over a sheet of water- is more than enough reason for everyone to come along and experience this shopping centre. Mogan Mall also makes its intentions clear regarding its aim of maintaining a fully Canarian identity, as it not only its name is in keeping with the local area, but its logo is to, with the letter ‘M’ crammed with details and engravings that contain elements that enhance the ‘Canaryness’ of its design, including a palm tree, lizard, cactus and water pitcher. So don’t forget to come along and discover the fine facilities at Mogan Mall, as, in short, the emergence of a new shopping centre such as this in the south of Gran Canaria has provided residents and tourists with an unrivalled, competitive and highly attractive place to come to and enjoy.
