THE TIME MACHINE

By Yousif

The year was 2022 and the place was Grandview Elementary. There were four boys—Y., E., R. and A.—who were all working to build time machines so they could to go back to the year 1421. They worked day after day, until finally, on day 14, they finished building them. But some of them changed their minds and did not want to go. They asked R. to go for all of them.

R. got into his time machine, but something went wrong and it got stuck in the timeline. The three boys who were left tried to find out why it wasn’t working. A. figured it out first: “There is no way you can get stuck in the timeline if you set the date, but we forgot to set it for 1421. We need to go to find R.”

Y., A. and E. climbed inside their time machines, but instead of setting the time for 1421, they did not set a date, just like R. had done. “If there is an infinite timeline, there is zero chance for us to find R.,” said E. The three boys each went on a different path. Y. tried seven different timelines, A. tried nine and E. tried 10, but none of them could find R.

They met back and decided to keep looking. They looked everywhere. Eventually, they did find R., so they all got ready to come back together. When they got back to their own timeline, they decided to break their time machines. But when they got to their home, there was someone else living there. They realized that it was now the year 2040. It turns out that each second you spend in a different timeline equals one hour in your own timeline. Now they were all stuck in the future.
