Suicide In High School Essay

Teenagers want help and want to live a happy life. Parents and teachers tend to overlook clear warning signs of teens having suicidal thoughts. Sometimes silence is the loudest scream for help. Overlooking vital signs such as loss of interest in things one cares about, or withdrawn and feeling isolated, or even sleeping too little or too much. These little signs go undetected and the price for not spotting them could mean a life. Instead of relying on parents and teachers to help these teenagers we should provide teens a way to help themselves. Trying to find signs of suicidal thoughts in teens can sometimes mean finding out too late but nobody knows how a teenager feels better themselves. Teens with access to suicide literature have the power to help themselves....show more content...

The effects of teens with an abusive parent are poor academics, low self esteem, poor social skills, criminal activity, and suicidal behavior. The website Ark of Hope for Children is a program that helps people become aware of victimized children and help to serve survivors through various programs. They stated that today an average of six young people under the age of eighteen will commit suicide due to domestic or sexual abuse. Domestic and sexual abuse have more than just long lasting physical damages; it has extreme emotional damages as well. The unimaginable pain both physically and mentally placed on these teenagers lead them to take their own life. High School Internships

When thinking about graduating high school and going into college, do you ever think that you will get a job right when you graduate? Yes that may be the case for some individuals but for the more technical jobs and the ones that require more schooling for, look for student who have experience with their major. It is important to know the different internships that are offered throughouthigh school and college. Browsing through the Missoula hospitals web pages I found information regarding the different types of job shadowing and volunteer work that they provide. Starting with St. Patrick Hospital web page I found a link leading to the different volunteer work that they have to offer. St. Patrick Hospital's...show more content...

Participants must be at least 16 years of age and enrolled in related high school or college courses or is an adult who has expressed great interest in a health care career (Shadowing Program Policy" 2). It's great knowing that Missoula has these wonderful connections with the hospitals. I guess my real question is that why don't they offer any internships through the school year and only during the summer?

I want to know why the only common internships for the medical field are offered during summer hours and not during the school year. Frenchtown High School 2013–2014 Registration Course Selection Guide stated that "Frenchtown requires student to have 24 credits to graduate. As you get older you are offered more elective classes to take. You have eight classes per semester attending four each day" (6). Most students toward the end of their senior year already have 20–22 credits, meaning you only need two more credits to be eligible to graduate. These seniors have so much time on their hands, and they end up taking work releases or classes they don't enjoy doing. As a senior myself I find myself taking classes that I don't need, but take just to fill in a class period. Having this said, there is so much time on their hands to be able to do an internship during the school year, and not just in the summer. As I interviewed both our High School Principal Jake

My High School Journey

At the beginning of my high school journey, it was scary. Just the thought of a new school, meeting new people, and the fact that this would be my last years before becoming an "adult" and getting closer to college, was unbelievable, yet scary. My high school journey had many ups and down. These ups and downs vary because I experienced them in my academics and socially. I can't forget that I learned a lot and met many different personalities, with people whom I trust and had many great times. Also as growing up throughouthigh school, I'm slowly seeing who I am. I know this is not the end of life, just a great piece of my life will end and everything will soon change again. I can give so many advices to just start off great at the beginning of anyone's high school journey. I think it's important to join clubs, activities,or sports so you can meet new people. It's important to surround yourself with people who will take their education seriously because at the end of high school, you will see how far you got by being surrounded with positive people and that's a benefit because you concentrate and achieve excellent grades and that leads to good colleges. Also, joining more clubs and participating looks great with your cap and gown at the graduation! Another advice is do NOT procrastinate, I have done it so many times and it sucks to sleep late and wake up early and by doing so, you avoid stress which is a pain in the butt. Do your homework, get good grades, and ask
