The Importance Of Selfless Service

When one sees the word selfless–service, he or she literally sees the words self and less, followed by service. Self refers to an individual (in this case, it refers to one's own interests) and less indicates a lack of, or without. Service can be a synonym of the word volunteering or duty. Therefore, the term selfless service must literally mean the lack of the pursuit of one's own interests for the betterment of others. There is no measurement of selfless service. No matter what the scenario or who is involved, everyone who is involved benefits from one's selfless acts. The one who shows selflessness may benefit by receiving a "thank you," or even just a good feeling of helping others. Of course, the ones who receive the selfless acts benefit from obvious reasons. Selfless–service can be shown by anyone and everyone, including a soldier putting his/her life on the line to save a fallen comrade, a husband and father protecting and spending time with his wife and children, someone donating his/her time by volunteering as a tutor or with the American Red Cross or some other goodwill charity, and the teamwork of two or more athletes. Those four examples provide different scales in which selfless–service can be displayed. Selfless–service can be displayed in regards to one's nation /military, one's family, one's community, and anyteam sport.

When compared on format, time and cost it is proven that emailing is more efficient than traditional letters. In today's generation it is very rare for people to write traditional letters to each other. This generation is becoming known for its quick and a technology based world. Emailing is quick and simple and always at the tip of the fingers. Unlike emailing, traditional letters take time. Emails are more commonly used than letters. If someone is to write a more formal email you would start off by addressing the person by their name and then get into the body of the email by replying to the purpose of the message. Most emails are sent just for a quick reply. Often times businesses use emails to communicate to other businesses, especially when dealing with transactions. Having a record of when you talked to a person (email timestamps) is a definitive way to make sure people hold up to their end of the deal. Businesses may also use emails to share important documents with one another, you are able to attach a file and then you can share any document you need to. Communication through email is also able to cut down people's eco footprint. Using the internet to share thoughts, documents, or have conversations cuts down the need for trees to be cut down. When using an email, the only thing you need is the person's email address. Emails are not as trustworthy as traditional letters however. Traditional letters have a stronger trust behind them as most are hand delivered from door to door. Often times with the capability to have a tracking number. Also like email, Traditional letters have more of a formal format. Traditional letters usually start out with addressing the person in formal way such as "Dear ... ", "Greetings ... The thought of community service was a bore to me before I began my volunteer work. I dreaded starting my community service although I knew I had to do it. Where I earned my hours did not even matter to me. I just wanted to get it over with. To my surprise it was not what I expected. Community service was not a painful experience; it was a very enjoyable and beneficial experience.

I performed my community service with Habitat for Humanity. The non‐profit organization chooses the applicant that purchases the house and Habitat only charges them the cost of the materials. I took pleasure in how much I learned at Habitat for Humanity. We were doing construction so many tools were involved. On my first day I was unaware of the names of most tools. Learning the names and functions of each tool was exciting. Being a male, I felt more confident knowing these things. Construction involves math and clever thinking as well. On my first day I just watched as the processes took place. Eventually, I was helping make the decisions. I even helped a volunteer build a fence and make precise measurements. The education about construction will benefit me for the rest of my life.

The amount of respect I earned was an incomparable benefit that I received from community service. Oil companies volunteered their employees on Saturdays and I spoke with all of them. They recognized my enrollment and scholarship achievements. Some of them see me and recognize me around town and they ask about how my goals are going. I met people who made a huge positive impact on my life. Employees without a college education worked full time at Habitat for Humanity, and I realized what I do not want to do with my life. During lunch breaks I spoke with the supervisor, Alynda Best, and she explained to me the significance of hard work in college. When it comes to our health, a good healthcare plan is a very important subject for all individuals. Some even argue that it is a basic right to have one. Bernie Sanders stated, "Healthcare must be recognized as a right, not a privilege. Every man, woman, and child in our country should be able to access the health care they need regardless of their income..." ("Issues: Medicare for All"). However, reality tells us a whole different story. America is one of the most developed countries in the world with some of the best medical care. Yet, how can the people enjoy the benefits when it is almost unaffordable to most. People are afraid to fall sick just because they are afraid of how much it would cost. However, sometimes a doctor or hospital visit is unavoidable. In most cases, it comes at a great price, especially to the middle class and the elderly. Wealthy individuals are likely to reap the benefits of having an expensive healthcare plan, while the rest may suffer from the unimaginable cost of treatments, or even worse, live a risky life without insurance. An effective solution to this problem would be a Universal Healthcare System. This would ensure that all people have equal and affordable health coverage, centralized healthcare records for all individuals which will help easy diagnosis by doctors and reduce the intensive labor costs of medical billing. Moreover, it may boost the economy by freeing business from providing expensive healthcare benefits to workers. The Meaning of Service

Service is a word used constantly. The word service has an impression on many people. For example; people who work as lifeguards view their work as a service to the community. Naturally, based on working as a lifeguard their definition of service would be an action beneficial to the well–being of others. Not surprisingly, a similar definition was found in the Oxford English Dictionary (OED). Service is described in the Oxford English Dictionary as "the action of serving, helping, or benefiting; conduct tending to the welfare or advantage of another; condition or employment of a public servant; friendly or professional assistance." A service berry is "any one of various American trees or shrubs of the genus Amelanchier" (Dictionary of Americanisms). The second definition was one many may not have recognized right away. Service is "public worship according to form and order" (OED). After people read this they think, of course! People are always saying "are you going to attend service on Sunday?" Many immediately think the word service means providing for another and completely forget by attending mass they are performing a service to a higher being.

Becoming so firmly planted in one definition of service people tend to ignore its other uses. A strong attachment to one definition or another can be attributed to working as a lifeguard or work with other programs like YouVote. Community Housing of Wyandotte County (CHWC) is a non–profit organization that build, rent and sell houses for lower prices, to families in need, their goal is to help people to achieve their dream of having a house or rent a house with affordable payments. CHWC not only provide houses but they also provide financial counseling and homebuyer assistance, that help individuals to get better understanding of the process that need to do in order to buy a house. The time I was there I felt so welcome by the staff and also it helped me to improve my communication skills since I was at the front desk receiving calls, interacting with the clients, making appointments to meet with the counselors and receiving the donations from different associations. I had a lot of good experiences at CHWC, one of the best experiences I had at CHWC was when a family finally get their house,I was the one who inform them that we had some goods news for them, as soon the family arrived the counselor speak to them and it was great seeing the face of those people, they were so happy about it. My Experience At The Hotel

These days, there have been a number of hotels in various cities, towns and countries. From when I was young to now, I have visited many inns since I loved to travel to somewhere. I had any feeling and impression about hotels where I have been before I became eighteen years old. Hotels were just hotels that I needed to stay for the night. No more than that I thought. Before I went to Canada to study English in 2011, my family had a plan to travel somewhere and stay in a hotel for my farewell in Korea. After we visited many attractions, we were heading to the hotel that we made a reservation. When I saw the entrance of the hotel, I was surprised at first, and when we went inside of the hotel, I was surprised again. For two days, I was very impressed and I thought a lot in positive ways. Reading and writing has always created a sense of understanding for me in my art. Reading in the literal sense is a way that we understand text or symbols in our minds which in turn create meaning. Writing also in a literal sense is our way of communicating our knowledge and emotions to others through symbols in text. The human experience for all people includes communication and through reading and writing this experience is created. From the beginning of this course, my only prior experience with reading and writing were high school level course over literature and reading. I had an average level of rhetoric,reading,writing and language overall however, understanding the significance of these subjects was never put forth in such a way until I took this course. In the past four years, I have written many papers for various classes, enjoying some and others having to choke out words to write down. What I Really Learned in English 100

Well as a recent pupil of the Great McFadden I want to do all that I can to be on his good side, for he said that if I go one mile to meet him, he will go two miles to meet me, which seems more that fair. My Experience With Writing Arguments

I am unaware of any writing arguments. The only thing I can really think of is writing a research paper with the intent to change people's minds on a certain subject. I remember researching for weeks in the library, looking through magazine after magazine. I had searched for enough information to write a ten–page paper. The writing process of the paper took several weeks but when I had finished, all the hard work was worth the effort. I learned many things from that course such as that you need to search for all the information you can because it is better to have too much information than not enough. Also that course taught me many things about making references to the authors of the articles I used for my paper. I remember writing out note card after note card and keeping all the necessary information about each book or magazine. I have participated in many community service activities during my four years of high school that demonstrates my commitment to service to others, but three of them especially stand out. The first activity was through Project Angel, which collects food donations from Avon schools and hands them out to families during the holiday season. Imagine struggling to afford the 'mandatory' three meals you're supposed to consume a day. It would be hard and stressful right? I met over one hundred hungry people that have to feel this emotion every day of their life, struggling to provide enough food to make a meal, fulfill their hunger, and stay healthy. On October 17th my senior year ofhigh school I volunteered at a place called "Broad Street Ministry" a Christian based community church. They have many community service opportunities that you can get involved with. I helped with feeding the homeless or those who cannot afford to eat. A teacher at my high school introduced me to this opportunity and I took away a lot of memories I will cherish with this event.

On October 17th myself and five other students loaded a van with our health teacher and headed off to Philadelphia. Personally, I volunteered with this event just for community service hours at first but after I left the event I walked away with more than just some hours that I could write on paper, I walked away with life lessons and a heavy heart. We got off the bus at our destination around 9:00 AM to help set up the equipment we were using for the day. As we set everything up I thought that we overdid it because we many tables pushed together forming a long line each table full of food followed by coolers of soda and water. After we got done setting up we had a brief meeting with a head leader of the Broad Street Ministry simply thanking us and giving us a run down of the day. I didn't think the event would last too long and no way there would be that many people coming to get food. I put on the mandatory clothing items we had to wear and got in my place to help out. Noon is when everything started and people started forming a line with plates in hand. More and more people got in the line and eventually we opened everything up to start serving people. By the time we started serving there had to be at least 100 people in line, I have only ever saw this happen on TV or in magazines, never personally. Importance of Customer Service

Introduction

Today's organizations fail to realize the value of their customers when it comes to the success of their business. Without customer loyalty the success of your business will always be uncertain. Organizations must sensitively tailor the designs of a successful firm to the particular challenges of understanding, attracting, and keeping valuable customers. After creating your vision, try to discover what the customer wants or what their vision is. The customer will focus on just one or two things and it will be up to you to fill in the gap with your vision. You will then pick and choose which ideas you want to use to complete or build up your vision. Not every idea of the customer will be used or has to be used. Some ideas may not be feasible or even applicable to what you have envisioned.

Deliver the Vision Plus One Percent

This is where the vision becomes reality; make it happen just as you envisioned it. Work out the bugs and keep doing what ever it takes to make this vision come alive. Start out with something small that you know you can maintain and be consistent with it. Once you have mastered that idea, add to it, make it better by just one percent. Continue to do this with each new idea, always producing better ideas by one percent. This way the customer is not promised something that you will not deliver and you're not promising something too big or complex to consistently follow through with. Consistency is critical; it creates credibility.

Conclusion

I have always believed customers are the focal point of any business. I found that having satisfied customers does not mean you are doing a good job. It may mean the customers are satisfied because their expectations are so low and there is no one else doing any better. Having

Every Sunday, I have the opportunity to help as a child care worker in my church's nursery; and every week, after spending just one hour watching over the kids so that their parents can go to service and not have to worry about their children, I remember exactly why I spend my free time helping others. The term "Noblesse Oblige" is why I choose to be involved in multiple childcare opportunities and community service clubs. I believe it is my job to make sure those who are less fortunate, or in need of aid, get the help they require and deserve. I take part in different aspects of community service because it helps better my community and makes me a stronger leader. For the past three years at Liberty High School, I have been a member of the Key Club community service organization. As a member of this club, I am able to help with different jobs around the community that help the people in our town specifically. For example, every first Wednesday of the month I go and help with a project called Snack Pack. During this time, about fifteen other kids and I prepare three weeks worth of food for seventeen high schoolers in our school district. These are kids that do not have enough money at home to always have food on their table. Snack Pack plays an important role in their lives because without it, they would not always eat. These kids deserve the chance to live their life and go to school without having to worry about whether or not the will eat dinner that night. That is why I value my role in this club so much, because I know what we do makes a difference. When the kids collect their food, they are able to relax a little more knowing that their family will be able to eat. Another aspect of Key Club that I take part in is Fairy Tale Forest, held at Martha Lafite Thompson Nature Sanctuary. Every year, the weekend before Halloween, I volunteer, with a handful of others from the club, to go and work at the children's fairy tale nature walk. The past two years I have been a runner. This means I do the odd little jobs, like run food and drinks around to the different characters that are working in the trail, that would otherwise be forgotten or not done at all.
