I chose sexual assault as a research topic because I, as a female in today 's society, would like to bring the issue of this topic to a larger demographic. I feel that over the years there has been a drastic increase in assault victims and a small amount of attention has been brought the authority 's attention and even the family of the victims. I, as a young female, want to be able to see a drastic change and would like to be able to lessen the casualties and raise awareness of the topic. I will strive to show victims of this assault that there are open ears and that they are not alone and that there are people who are willing to help them and hear their stories.
Every 45 seconds, sexual assault gains a new victim resulting in more than...show more content... Research shows that thirty–two percent of assault victims are between the ages of 11 and 17.
The act of sexual assault can come in many different forms. The most commonly used term "Sexual Assault" as stated previously refers to sexual contact or behavior that occurs without consent of the victim. Though this is most common, it is not the only form of assault. A few other forms of sexual assault include Incest, Child Sexual Abuse, and Sexual Assault of Men and Boys.
Incest occurs when the perpetrator engages in sexual activities with a parent, child, sibling, or anyone closely related to them. Most situations commonly occur when the perpetrator spends a great amount of time around the victim and temptations and attraction come into play. The act of incest occurs through different steps leading up to the act such as perpetrators engaging more with the victim, grooming the victim, secrecy, and being alone with the victim. In some cases, family members maybe see the acts leading up to the assault occurring, where in some cases, the acts and assault go unnoticed until the victim is of an older age or becomes comfortable and comes out to his or her family. Child sexual abuse occurs when a perpetrator intentionally engages his or herself sexually with a minor. A minor is unable to consent his or herself to any form of sexual activity under any circumstance. When this victim is of a very young age, the perpetrator is making
Although Medusa is one of the most well known mythological figures from Ancient Greece, she is almost exclusively recognized as a monster, and not a goddess. She is known for her hair made of snakes and her ability to turn individuals to stone with her stare. However, she is a goddess of birth, death, and regeneration (Dexter 25). Medusa was typically depicted as a snake and bird hybrid. She is well known for her ferocity, but is also a healer.
Myths of Medusa are a mix of Neolithic European, Semitic, and Indo European (Dexter 25). "Medusa" means "ruling one" in early Greek texts, however in her myths, she is depicted as a monster most commonly associated with Hades. Medusa was the only mortal of the three Gorgon Sisters. The Greek adjective...show more content...
Perseus then flies off to face the Gorgons. Along the way he runs into thegoddess Athena, who advises him to only look at the Gorgons through the reflection of his shiny bronze shield, otherwise he'll be turned to stone. Eventually, Perseus reaches the seaside cave of the three Gorgon sisters, whose names are Stheno, Euryale, and Medusa. Luckily for Perseus, the Gorgons are asleep when he gets there. Perseus sneaks up to Medusa, the only Gorgon who is mortal. He raises his sword, taking aim by looking at the monster through the reflection in his shield, and chops off Medusa's head. As Medusa's head flies from her body, Pegasus, the winged horse, and Chysaor, a giant with a golden sword, jump out of her neck. Perseus plops Medusa's head in the kibisis and starts make his getaway. At this point Medusa's sisters, Stheno and Euryale, wake up, and they are not happy. They chase after Perseus. He puts on Hades' helmet of invisibility and escapes. Perseus then flies away with Medusa's head packed in the kibisis. On the way back to the island of Seriphus, Perseus runs into Atlas, the Titan doomed by Zeus to hold up the sky forever. He and the Titan get into a fight, because Atlas refuses to offer Perseus shelter. Perseus ends the argument by whipping out Medusa's head and turning Atlas into stone. When Perseus finally makes it back home to Seriphus, he finds out that his mother is hiding out in a temple trying to avoid king Polydectes. Perseus marches over to Polydectes' palace, where he finds the king hanging out with some friends. When Polydectes asks for the Gorgon head Perseus uses it to turn them to stone After this, Perseus returns all his godly artifacts– winged sandals, kibisis, helmet of invisibility

The name of the book that this report describes is The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. This story takes place in New York City in the summer of 1922. This time period is often referred to as "The Roaring Twenties," which was the good time in the United States before the crash of the stock market in 1929.
The story begins with the move of Nick Carraway from the Midwest to West Egg in the district of Long Island, New York during the summer of 1922. Nick's point of view is used for the duration of the story, as he is the main character. West Egg is described as a very wealthy area full of people who made lots of money very quickly and love to show it off. These people also haven't been rich long enough to make any social connections, unlike Nick, who has connections in East Egg, where the more settled rich live. Nick is also not as upscale as his neighbors in West Egg.

Then, Gatsby tells Nick that it was Daisy who was driving his car and hit Myrtle, but Gatsby intends to take the blame. George Wilson, Myrtle's husband, somehow jumps to the conclusion that whoever killed his wife was her lover. After discovering the owner of the car involved in the deadly accident, he sets out to get his revenge.
Nick stops by Gatsby's mansion after work the afternoon after the accident to find that George Wilson had shot Gatsby and, afterwards, shot himself. Soon after this event, Nick composes a funeral for Gatsby, parts ways with Jordan Baker, and moves back to the Midwest because of how revolted he is with New York and the wealthy.
I would recommend this book because of how exceptional the story is. However, I am not enthused how F. Scott Fitzgeraldchose to write it because of the lengthy sentences and words that were beyond my vocabulary(I had to look up the definition of many words in this book).
Overall, I can see why this book is such a

The definition of art is notoriously difficult and is a field of philosophical inquiry as such. The meaning of the word "art" are multiple, sediment and cross each other in the language. Missing uses of the word are present in expressions and help to make the subject more that difficult. However, according to my studies, art is an expression, a symbolic way to communicate. Its key is to make something subject or scientific, for instance: an object that went through certain modification would be consider an art. We have a different type of arts but I will only be focusing on this tree types: prehistoric art, art of the ancient near east and art of ancient Egypt. First we'll talk...show more content... The "art for art" remained unknown in ancient Egypt; all creation was a practical purpose: the prosperity and triumph of Egypt, providing the survival of rulers and notables. The beautiful had no value in itself; we would say in modern terms, that the supreme intention was magical action. According to our book (art history by Marilyn Stokstad and Michael W. Cothren): "The architecture is religious or funeral destination; only temples and tombs were built of sustainable materials, although we also know some palaces and fortresses. The statuary, too, funeral (the statue is considered the repository of the soul of the deceased) or divine (the royal statues represent the pharaoh, god on earth or in the hereafter). The reliefs are dependent on strict religious patterns; one painting, especially that found in the tombs of the notables of the New Kingdom, manifest a spontaneity and a certain naturalism, but it was only a substitute art to replace cheaply the painted relief. This liveliness is reflected in the minor arts, and fard for spoons or pots ointments; but the jewels themselves usually hold conventions of religious symbolism". Although, the step pyramid and sham buildings, funerary complex of djoser would perfectly help to illustrate the image of the art of the ancient Egypt. The Djoser funerary complex, built during the reign of Pharaoh Djoser in Saqqara is located in Egypt. It's the first of this magnitude and the Get more content
Importance and purpose of research
Research is important to understand, increase knowledge, and get information for social life. Social research is conducted to extend knowledge about some aspects of society like humanities, business or any social science [asi]. Research is used to form or develop new theories in order to understand the process behind particular event or behavior, or review the correctness of existing theories. In addition, research is also conducted to inform decisions or action to solve everyday issues such as evaluating the effectiveness of policy. [abr] and [brm] of the business research emphasis on the importance of research as getting problem–solving information. Research is the process of studying and analyzing the aspects of the issue as to explore the solution to the business.
The summaries of the core objectives of research are testing existing knowledge, developing new system or generating new knowledge, seeking solution for issues, and analyzing new problems or investigating existing problems [br].
Quantitative and Qualitative Paradigm
[br] a research paradigm is a philosophical perspective that guides how scientific research should be conducted. Philosophy is 'a set or system of beliefs [stemming from] the study of the fundamental nature of knowledge, reality, and existence' (Waite and Hawker, 2009, p.685). [w1] The most influential or the dominant ones of philosophical framework are positivism and interpretivism. During the twentieth

Abstract:In my companion article on the making of the reliably religious boy (D. What is the Impact of Stress on University Students Academic Performance?
1. EXPLANATION OF RESEARCH TOPIC
1.1 Purposes of Research Topic
Newth (2011) claims that modern daystress seems to be more widespread than ever causing interference with human intellect, emotional and interpersonal functioning. Therefore; I suggest that students will encounter stress and it will impact their academic performance. In this fast pace and performance driven society each organization needs well performing people. The only way we will know what people require to become productive and less stressed is to explore topics as my research question. The topic...show more content... Which collects the health statistics of students from universities all around the world every second year, reported that 40.2 percent of Santa Clara University students identified that stress affected their individual academic performance during the last 12 months of their studies (Temple,2011). Temple (2011) reported a survey conducted in 2004 that assessed the overall well–being of 47,202 undergraduates nationwide. The findings were that 32.4 percent of students recognized stress as the main obstacle to their academic performance. This was said to be above the common cold, depression, death of a relative, sexual assault and eating disorders. Stress is "once considered as the nation's number one health epidemic; prolonged stress can lead to ulcers, heart disease, stroke, major depression and to a shorter life span" (Temple, 2011).
Based on these findings from research done previously I feel that this study is important. Firstly, we need to understand what causes the stressors and how it affects the individual. For example, if you have an entire university with stressed students, not being productive, not performing well academically perhaps thinking of dropping out of university because of the overwhelming anxiety; it can be detrimental to the institution in terms of status and students in terms of individual realisation. Secondly, we soon have to formulate effective and efficient stress management guidelines
Xbox One
An Xbox One is a gaming console that is widely popular with the world. It has many game classics like Call of Duty or Halo. The Xbox franchise started with the original Xbox, then they made in chronological order: Xbox 360, Xbox 360 Slim, Xbox 360 E Slim, Xbox One, Xbox One S. The Xbox is designed to play many times of media and games. It can run music, videos, apps, internet, and video games. The console was developed by the leading software developer Microsoft. Over the years, the Xbox has become a classic towards the fans. The Xbox One's leading competitors are Sony, who developed Playstation, and the PC master race, which reigns supreme above all. The Xbox one was alongside the PS4 when it came out and was considered a "next gen" console and was revolutionary in its time rivaling over the lesser consoles such as the Xbox 360, and the PS3. It has come a long way since its release and has had many updates to appeal to the large audience of gamers, including the addition of windows 10, and the ability to instantly record gameplay, and share it with friends....show more content...
The first part I'm going to explain is the 8 Core CPU. This is the Central Processing Unit, whose is the brain of the operation. The CPU sends signals to all of the other parts of the Xbox, and tells them what to do and when.
The Xbox One features a 500GB standard model of space, which can hold all of your games and applications. It uses a hard drive which i The next part of the Xbox One is it's Durango GPU, which clocks in at 853 MHZ. The GPU's job is to send signals to the screen to display the graphics that the CPU tells it to. All of this happens in milliseconds. The next part is the 8GB of DDR3 ram, which gives the console the capabilities to run the games it can. Without the ram, the console can't handle the intense next–gen

Should medical research be continued when many couldn 't afford it?
Science has advanced by leaps and bounds over the years, with much of the results are achieved through plenty of research and knowledge. One of the areas of research where we spend the most funds on is medical research. With the rise of poverty and healthcare costs, complaints on expensive medical research being a waste of funds have arose. The thoughts behind these complaints are that the result of these researches benefit more to some parties–such as medical institutions for the profit they might get, a country for its 'name ', and the researchers for their satisfaction–instead of the public, and how massive amount of funding have been allocated for medical research...show more content...
Preventative medicine is one of the most important discoveries in the history of medicine. Diseases that were once common are now very rare because of this type of medicine, or normally called 'vaccine '. For instance, the research into polio vaccines spent a significant amount of funds, but it was a wonderful success. Additionally, the price for the vaccine is very reasonable, showing that medical research doesn 't always result in expensive treatments. The medications for dengue fever has found thanks to medical research. However, intensive experiments have found an evidently cheaper and easily obtainable natural medication, which is papaya leaf juice. It is also notable that along with the progression of the medical sector, healthcare costs and medicines for many common illnesses are now cheaper than they were in the past. With new discoveries regarding the substances used to make the medicines, less expensive substances are used and therefore making them cheaper and more accessible.
It is also to be considered that if we disallow a research for continuing just because of expenditure reason, we risk destroying its value entirely. For example, the research into cancer has gone for a long period. It is a pity to stop it because that would mean destroying the value of ongoing multi–year studies. Even though it is true that current research hasn 't resolved the issues of cancer and other 'currently incurable ' diseases, there is no
Throughout this semester in the Introduction to Academic Research course, I learned a great deal about research. We covered a wide variety of topics that encompassed topics such as methods of field research, the unknowns when conducting research (the Black Box activity), the differences that exist among fields when using the word "research", and many others. I'll begin with what I learned about myself. Throughout this course, I learned a great deal about my future interests and the characteristics I exhibit when participating in a group project. When working with Rob Geis and Martin Castro, I searched constantly and relentlessly through the CIA database to find any information relevant to our project and the argument we wished to make....show more content...
I believe my research interests lie within the American South. I am fascinated by the historic and economic elements of the region that I call home. I personally believe that learning about your interests is important but the strengths, values, and limitations that you bring to the table are more important. Learning this about yourself helps to address your own weaknesses and to find individuals that balance the research group out. Throughout this course, I also learned a bit about research. My concept of research changed very little. Throughout high school and the IB program, I learned how to evaluate sources, the importance of primary sources, and other elements of research. In my senior year, I completed an original work entitled "How has the internet changed the market structure of local news with reference to the Augusta Chronicle in Augusta, Georgia?". The research paper was over 24 pages and nearly 4,000 words long. I received an A (a grade received by 10.59% of all students involved in most difficult international high school program in the world) for my Extended Essay grade from the IB Economics examiners in India. I was also asked to complete research reports in other individual courses. One of these reports included my IB History of the Americas class. In this report, I examined how accurate the media portrayal of Jefferson Davis following the Civil War reflected his personality
