Experience plays a major role in managing a project. The project manager needs to know the subject to some degree and have a good idea as to what types of resources are available to complete a project. A project manager also needs to have a good idea of what steps should happen to manage a project from start to finish. Experience is the only thing that can help really refine the process and to allow a process to come in most economically.

The need to ask the right questions comes from repetitively working on projects. Knowing what to ask and how to ask questions of the receiving parties takes skill and practice. This could cause the project to fail even before it begins. Attitude really can make or break a project. If a different project manager has had great experiences previously with similar projects, he or she could make their current project come in ahead of schedule and under budget. Experience does play a lot into these negative and positive attitudes but also the relationship of the project manager with the people that the project is for or the project team can affect the outcome or even the start of a project. If the project manager has had positive experiences with these people the project will run much more smoothly and probably come out quite successful but if there are personality conflicts or a myriad of different negative items between these parties a project could complete very poorly or even fail. The main issue that I had to deal with during the project is the near absence of the action plan. The plan should consists of a number of action /steps that need to be performed in order to reach the research project's objectives. Due to the absence of an action plan, we wasted time/efforts by either doing nothing or doing things that are irrelevant. Besides, the research project workload was not divided between us in a fair manner. This is mainly due to the absence of both a solid project schedule and a project manager/leader. In project management, there are many methods to handle how the project should be completed, how an ethical situation should be handled, what types of decisions should be made. Furthermore, how much knowledge the project manager should possess, their focus of completing the job on budget and schedule, and understand the scope, as well as, knowing how to communicate.

When I completed OGL 320: Foundations of Project Management, I understood the hard work the project manager had to endure to complete a successful project. They are the individuals who are responsible, knowledgeable, and are great communicators with a mindset of completing an outstanding project. I feel that I boosted my knowledge and grew throughout the OGL 321: Project Leadership class during this Fall of 2016. Sharing our experiences regarding the simulations to the module discussion paper that are completed at the end of each module has acquired me to understand what can be accomplished with different strategies. Each module discussion paper provided me an insight of the project manager's challenges, and what are the main important points to complete a project with success. In addition, this class assisted me in recognizing and concentrating in areas, such as, principles, practices, and leadership.
