My Personal Core Values

Throughout the duration of this course my morals have been reshaped; first, we discussed personal responsibility, then professional responsibility. Each of these components must be integrated in a student's life to ensure a successful and ethical career down the road. Five predominant values that influence my life on a daily basis are responsibility, accountability, integrity, achievement, and respect. Responsibility is a value that has been integrated in my mind since early childhood. Both my parents always held me to an extremely high standard and assigned chores around the house I was personally assigned to complete. Additionally, being the older sibling, any blame usually came crashing down on my shoulders. Despite having times where...show more content...

Assignments, such as creating personal scripts in e–mail responses or evaluating core values are other opportunities to implement professional responsibility. Personal and professional responsibilities are skills that take time and practice to develop. During class time, I found a couple activities in particular to be very effective. The never list made me deeply consider mistakes I never want to commit in my professional career; I found this unique because it focused on possible negative outcomes for a change. Also, the 2MC's allow the whole classroom to contribute thoughts and this allows me to open to mind to points of view I would've never considered myself. On top of that, preforming skits is another activity that has improved my skills because as part of a team, adjusting personal and professional attitudes change to work together. Before entering this course, I would've defined professional responsibility as the ability for someone to complete work till their fullest potential without compromising others values. This naГЇve, misrepresentative definition has now been remolded. To begin, my original definition was too narrow minded and only considered completing a task without creating a hassle; this is only one piece of the puzzle. Not to mention, guest speakers in class are always a unique way to receive first hand testimony of what professional responsibility truly is. They verbalize the complexity of professional responsibility and depict the numerous

Do you feel an obligation to think about other people's welfare? If you do, how far does that responsibility extend? Are you responsible for a sibling, a neighbor, or even a stranger across the world? The short stories I read help me think about the world around me and enlighten my understanding of my personal responsibility to others. First, these short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society. Second, the short stories I read helped me think about to what extent should we be driven by personal responsibility to act with compassion, empathy, and concern for others. Finally, short stories exemplify how we are personally responsible for our friends and how we live our own lives.

First, short stories show personal responsibility by describing to what degree we are responsible for the weaker or oppressed members of society.Throughout the short stories, I have seen how the weaker and oppressed member of society are being helped. For example, in the short story, the "Scarlet Ibis", the narrator has a responsibility, given to him by his mother, to help his younger brother who cannot care for himself. As the narrator says in the story, "It seemed so hopeless from the beginning that it's a miracle I didn't give up. But all of us must have something or someone to be proud of, and Doodle had become mine. I did not know then that pride is a wonderful, terrible thing, a seed that bears two

Frankenstein: Responsibility

Who Is Responsible? If a child acted violently toward another child, should the parents of that child be held responsible for the inappropriate behavior, or should the child take full responsibility for his/her actions? This question of responsibility comes up often in Mary Shelley's novel, Frankenstein. Her horrific and dark tale of the mad, science–obsessed Victor Frankenstein, wanting to create life from what had already been dead, evokes questions of who is at fault for the creature's murders. Although some may say that the creature is at complete fault because he is own "person", but ultimately Victor is at fault because he is the one who created a being that destroyed the lives of innocent people due to how he treated the creature....show more content...

He was brought into the world with no one to give him knowledge, support, and guidance. He was completely deserted by his creator. When he tried to make friends, everyone either ran away from him or tried to kill him. Calridge states, "At the time of his first violent act, he is merely seeking fellowship with another human, and he assumes little William, the "beautiful child" so unlike himself, to be too young to have formed prejudices based on appearance. Enraged to the point of murder..." This statement shows how everything the creature feels or does stems back to Victor. If Victor had just accepted and loved his creature for what he was, then he wouldn't have killed little William or any of Victor's other loved ones. His rejection and misfortune was not caused by his actions, but rather his appearance, a physical trait that Victor had created and the creature could not change. The creature's problem was that he was "ugly" and "deformed", but he did not choose to be physically deformed. Victor created him that way. Thus, Victor is ultimately responsible for the creature's rejection. The creature was completely alone. His own creator could not tolerate the sight of him and deserted him. He was left with nobody. The monster explained that he was a "poor, helpless, miserable wretch; I knew, and could distinguish, nothing". He had to discover survival,

Have you ever read an unbelievable tragedy or accident that never should have happened in the first place? How about devastated families who are blaming others for the death of a loved one? It is essential that people in life or death situations should be held accountable for their situation no matter what. People are able to choose where they go and what they do for fun, and a person's life is their own life and shouldn't depend on others to save them. Not only that but people's actions can not only harm themselves but others who didn't do anything. Because of these reasons, people need to understand that they need to take responsibility for their troubles. First off, many people choose to put themselves in survival situations and do daring actions when they know the risks themselves. In "The Most Dangerous Game", an adventurer and hunter, Rainsford, is traveling the world but in the process runs into another hunter who has created an unimaginable game of hunting humans for amusement. This cruel being is a man named General Zarroff, who explains, "'Life is for the strong, to be lived by the strong, and, if need be, taken by the strong. The weak of the world were put here to give the strong pleasure. I am strong. Why should I not use my gift? If I wish to hunt, why should I not? I hunt the scum of the earth–sailors from tramp ships–lascars, blacks, Chinese, whites, mongrels–a thoroughbred horse or hound is worth more than a score of them'" (Connell 13). General Zaroff not

Responsibility in a person is a must as they can be more trusting and dependable if they have even the slightest amount of responsibility unlike those who don't have any they can be lacking in many things and most people will see them as drags on society. What Is Responsibility Essay

This essay I am going to write is about the importance of accountability in the army, and as to how it affect the units mission. First off by definition "Accountability is important in the military because soldiers are often times required to perform extremely challenging duties and services. Without accountability, a soldier cannot be expected to meet these high demands and expectations". Being accountable means being in the right place at the right time, being in the proper duty uniform, being dependable and always arriving to work on time, appointments on time and most importantly doing the right thing at the right time and all the time. One of the most important parts about being accountable is so that you do not miss any important...show more content... you must be aware of your actions and always be vigilant and never to lose self accountability. Once you have gained self accountability, you can then start to worry about other people if the task requires it. Accountability does not only happen on the week days but also during your personal time because a lot of what you do or people see you do on your personal time can affect how people view and see you on work time. Also it can also affect how you feel about yourself or how other people feel about you. The next topic i am going to cover is the importance of being accountable as a Non–Commissioned Officer. This is really important because soldiers will always be coming to you for advice, guidance and almost everything they can not do alone. NCO's are the backbone of the military, they relay information from the top of the channels all the way to the bottom. The NCO mindset comes from a lot of honest hard work and working your way up from the bottom, which is why the NCO's should know most about accountability, and also because they need to have accountability of not only themselves but that of others that are under them. If one domino falls then most of the time they will all fall. so in other words if one person messes up then it could mess up everyone. In some missions this is very bad because if you are in Afghanistan or Iraq then you need to have accountability so that everyone gets home safe and unharmed. The higher that you go in the NCO support Get

Getting in order your own personal dress uniform ready for a military ball in a timely manner shows completion of whatever updates your uniform needs. Therefore, even completing little tasks such as so, shows you are able and competent to do it yourself on your own time. The importance of being on time shows your reliability. If you show competence and responsibility when you're entrusted with little, then you will exhibit to you superiors that you can likely to be entrusted with more. While it is absolutely essential to be reliable in the military, consistently showing that reliability every day by being on time, also helps exhibit your fitness for higher ranks and for more responsibility. Being reliable not only demonstrates you have what it takes, but also gives out a good example of being a reliable soldier, and person over all. Out of all things in the military, accountability is arguably one of the most important value a person can have. By always showing up on time you demonstrate that you accept your responsibilities and are willing to hold yourself to task for completion. Being on time shows accountability. Every military unit has to be held accountable for each individual soldier on duty. You never know if it's going to be a ordinary training day, or if something happens that will require immediate response. Most often, if not from the normal schedule, we may have to be prepared

Responsibility, It Is Personal

The term Personal responsibility can be defined in many ways, yet there is no one definite definition. To be personally responsible, one would first have to have the ability to be accountable for ones actions. Everyone is raised in their own unique atmosphere, and the levels of responsibility introduced during that upbringing will vary largely. For some people, the concept of personal responsibility will be introduced at a very young age, for example a young child learning to play a musical instrument, or competing in a dance performance. Other children will learn personal responsibility very late in life, usually due to tragedy, or a...show more content...

When one fails to take personal responsibility for their education, it can lead to receiving a failing grade for the course, suspension, and even expulsion. Taking personal responsibility for one's education is more than attending class. You must be responsible for understanding the intended objective of the class, or classes. You must be responsible for submitting your work, and assuring that that work is not plagiarized. You must also be responsible for preparing for exams. When some or all of these areas are neglected, one is due to fail in completing their education. Unfortunately, when one fails to meet the obligations of fulfilling their duties as a student, it can affect their financial aid. This is also an ongoing problem within our education systems today. If a student defaults on their school loans, they become another digit in the statistics of loan default. Once a school district reaches a certain level, the opportunity for another student to receive financial assistance ceases. "More than 66 percent of loan volume issued through the federal guaranteed–student–loan program to students at Bennett in the 2006 fiscal year went through Sallie Mae, according to data compiled by Student Marketmeasure." (Hermes, 2008).

Even though we need to ask for help when we cannot be responsible, it is everyone's responsibility to acquire needed assistance. Without personal responsibility, we cannot achieve greatness and when we fail to be

Essay about WhatВґs Personal Responsibility

Being Responsible There are many things in this world that concern me. I am concerned about all the bad things that happen all around the world, such as crimes and natural disasters. However, what is on my mind is how irresponsible so many people are. Fortunately, I have not let the influence of others affect how responsible or not I am. I like to think that I am my own person. No one can make me a certain way. I am myself, and that is how I like it. Many people comment on how responsible I am, but sometimes not in a good way. They'll call me things like "goody–two–shoes" or "overachiever." They try to put me down for doing the right thing, just because that is not how they do things. People who do drugs, steal, or make any other bad decisions I know I should not be around. I am not going to be a person that takes drugs and drinks alcohol. I want to be a responsible person and not let any of that take over my life. If anyone ever offers me to do any of those things, I will be responsible by simply saying no, and if they keep asking, I will just take them out of my life. I believe that responsibility is one of my good traits. Being responsible has a better chance of getting me somewhere in life than being irresponsible does. Examples Of Personal Responsibility

Personal Responsibility

To be successful you must be responsible for your actions. Personal responsibility is having integrity, and taking ownership for your actions. Doing the right thing will demonstrate being personally responsible and will result in a successful experience in life.

Personal responsibility is taking ownership of your thoughts and actions. To me, personal responsibility is having integrity. What I mean by this is being trustworthy, to do the right thing all thetime. For example, plagiarizing work, if someone is trustworthy they will do their own work, rather than copy someone else's and turning that work in for a grade. If someone is to have integrity, they will also report any wrong doings that they are aware of. If you know of someone that is cheating or plagiarizing and you do not report the incident, you are just as much at fault as the other person. Above would be another example of what I believe personal responsibility means, doing the right thing even though it may not be the popular thing to do. Doing the right thing means living a life where every move or decision you make is all your own and you do things that will not harm others. As soon as you stop taking responsibility for what you do in life, it is almost certain you will be doing things that will be harmful to others. This is why it is so important to have laws that society must abide by. As an example, let's say you are having a get together and you have you stereo on a little too loud. To you and the people attending your party the music is just fine, but to your neighbors it is entirely too loud and disruptive. My bosses back then, as well as my customers, knew they could put me in hard working conditions and count on me to get things done. I worked in boiler rooms, on telephone poles and in cramped crawlspaces. They knew I was dedicated and responsible enough to get done anything that I had to.
