Every effort has been made to ensure accuracy at the time of print, however if you have difficulty getting in touch directly with any of the organisations listed please contact us at the WPCC.

The WPCC is a one-stop shop which supports families raising a child with SEN and/or disabilities by providing information on local services including short breaks.

We also work very closely with Wiltshire Council to ensure services are doing their utmost to meet the needs of families within its local authority, and organise a range of events throughout the year to keep everyone updated.

Important: Changes to this WPCC Bulletin due to the COVID-19 Pandemic What changes have been made?

As the coronavirus pandemic continues, this has obviously had an impact on services’ abilities to run activities over the October Holidays. However, with many restrictions being eased, there are now more clubs and activities re-opening for face-to-face sessions. We are pleased therefore to be able to put together a Bulletin that includes far more face-to-face activities, but for those who cannot get out to these, we have still included some online activities and learning resources (plus links to our website where many more can be found).

How to use the Activities/Learning Resources & Information Lists Activities/Resources listed may be for a specific age range or groups of children based on needs. We have provided as much information as we can within the Bulletin and provided web links and contacts to find out more information. 

Each activity and resource listed has been given an item number.



The item number corresponds to the activity/resource name.



Find out more about a specific activity/resource, who to contact and how to book by looking up the item number on the providers contact list and using the contacts or web link provided.



You may find QR Codes for certain activities or for WPCC’s registration form; you may be able to simply open your camera and they will automatically scan, or you may have to download a QR scanning app (for free). Once scanned they will take you directly to the website link.

ALWAYS check to see whether there have been any changes to times/dates/ availability of any sessions advertised.

All settings will be depending on government guidelines and being able to put measures in place to comply with these guidelines.

Activities: Open bounce trampolining and clip ‘n’ climb.

More Info: Booking for this session is vital. Call 01793 251555 It is up to participants/parent carers judge if the session is appropriate. They normally ask that accompanying adults of SEND participants come in to the arena to assist with safety and clipping in and out. Accompanying adults must watch the safety brief.

9. DS Active Bristol - Football (Astroturf) Opening times: Sundays: 24th October & 31st October, 11.00am - 12.00pm.

Age: 5+ years old.

Location: St. Paul’s Academy, Newfoundland Road, Bristol, BS2 9NH. Cost: £3.00 per person Who: All abilities, young people with Downs Syndrome.

Activities: Football in a friendly & active environment.

10. GUL - Mixed Activity Day Opening times: Thursdays: 21st & 28th October, 9.30am - 4:00pm.

Age: 8+ year olds Location: God Unlimited Outdoor Therapy Centre, Riverside, Elston Lane, SP3 4HL. Cost: £45 Full Day. Snacks Provided (Cooked over a fire) Who: Young people with SEN and physical disabilities.

Activities: Explore the woodland and follow trails. Cook food over an open fire. Build a den.

Ride a pony. Make new friends. Have fun.

Can be wet & windy so bring weather appropriate clothing.

Who: Led beginners and up!

(Bring packed lunch and gloves & weather suitable clothing, and long hair needs to be tied back without grips or clips) Activities: Grooming and horse care, a full length group riding lesson.

Stable routines with the ponies, riding games in the afternoon.

15. Rein & Shine - Pony Camp Opening times: Thursday 28th October - Friday 29th October, 9.30am – 3.00pm.

Location: Rein and Shine Equestrian Centre, 1 Buryhill Farm, Braydon, SN5 0AD. Cost: £150.00 per child (2 day block) (Late collections are £10.00 per child and early drop-offs are £10.00 per child per hour) Age: All ages.

Who: Independent riders only!

Activities: This 4 day camp features jumping, hacking (where abilities permit), dressage, competitions, rosettes and pony care. The week culminates in a show jumping competition on the grass.

Inclusion funding for settings Early Years Inclusion Support Funding is a financial contribution for early years settings towards the inclusion of children aged 0-5 who have a disability or difficulty that creates a barrier to their learning.

The funding is ‘Needs Led’.

An Early Years Inclusion Officer and your setting will discuss any additional support required, in partnership with parents. The funding can be used by the setting for training, resources or support which is additional to or different from what is normally expected to be provided within your setting. It is neither the expectation nor intention that the additional funding will provide 1-1 continuous support.

TAX FREE CHILD-CARE Tax-Free Childcare is a new UK-wide government scheme to help working parents with the cost of childcare.

It was rolled out to parents from early 2017. ● Eligible parents (both parents will have to be in work, and each expecting to earn at least £115 a week – and not more than £100,000 each year) will be able to open an online childcare account. The money held in these accounts can only be used by parents to pay for registered childcare (Preschools, childminders, day nurseries and school based care that is paid for, such as after-school clubs) • For every £8 parents pay in to their childcare account, the government will pay in an additional £2 up to a maximum of £2,000 per child per year (or £4,000 for disabled children). Parents will then be able to use the funds to pay for registered childcare - but only if their childcare provider has signed up to the scheme.

• When the scheme was introduced, childcare providers will have been sent a letter inviting them to sign up to Tax-Free Childcare. The letter contains a code, which they’ll need alongside their ten-digit Unique Tax Reference (UTR) number to sign-up. (If they’ve lost the letter, they need to get a new one sent by calling 0300 123 4097).

Children’s Centres 0-5s What are children’s centres?

Children’s centres are places where parents with children aged 0 – 5 years old can share the challenges and joys of parenthood. They offer a range of activities and support services to help you with all aspects of parenting to make sure your child gets the best start in life. Wiltshire has 13 children’s centre buildings located across the county offering families of 0-5 year olds a variety of services. Children’s centre services are also provided in a range of venues in local communities so that families can access support close to where they live. Children’s centre services in Wiltshire are run on behalf of Wiltshire Council by two voluntary organisations: Spurgeons and The Rise Trust.

Services offered from centres include: • General information, advice and support for parents of young children • Information on how to access childcare provided by nurseries or childminders • Family support services • Easy access to children’s health services, including midwives and health visitors • Support for children with special needs including sensory rooms • Links with Jobcentre Plus, local training providers, further and higher education institutions • Messy play, rhyme time sessions, stay and play sessions Families with children with additional needs • Children’s centres can provide support to parents and children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND).

• Each children’s centre will be able to provide information on Wiltshire’s SEND Local Offer • Some centres hold support groups, and most have sensory rooms fully equipped to provide a safe, comfortable and colourful environment for you and your child to play together.
