Discussion sessions specifically for parent carers of children and young people with SEND

What is this about?

What to expect from the sessions...

The SEND Green paper is a document that suggests changes to the SEND system and Alternative Provision in England. The government hopes these changes will improve things for children, young people and their families. The government has started a 13 week consultation process on the proposals within the SEND Green Paper, which closes on 22nd July 2022. The WPCC is keen to submit a response to the consultation on behalf of Wiltshire parent carers and to enable us to do this, we have arranged three face to face sessions for parent carers to attend and contribute their views. We will then collate all the feedback from these sessions and submit our collective response.

Who is this for? These sessions are for parent carers only Please join us at one of our sessions so that you can join the discussion and help inform WPCC’s collective response to this national consultation. By getting involved now, you will have an important opportunity to help influence future national SEND provision.

The SEND green paper is important because it gives you a chance to tell the government what you think about the changes they want to make. Participating and giving feedback, could mean the government changes its plans to something parent carers think is better.

The Green Paper is a 106 page document.

The government’s consultation survey asks 21 questions, some of which may not be a priority to parent carers.

We aim to present the key elements of the Green Paper in an effort to make it easier to take in.

The WPCC is going to try facilitating, for the first time, a ‘non-conference’ A ‘non-conference aims to enable the participants to decide the topics that are most important to them and lead the discussion.
