Your core is the center of your body. It helps stabilize your spine, supports your back, and keeps your organs in place. But if you're not using it properly, it could lead to serious problems like lower back pain or even injury. Core strengthening exercises are an important part of any exercise routine. They strengthen your abdominal muscles, which support your spine and keep your organs in place.
Stand Taller If you spend much of your day sitting at a desk, chances are good that your core isn't getting enough work. That's why it's so important to make sure you do some core strengthening exercises every day. Check out a few ways to exercise below.
Stretch More If you spend more than half of your day sitting at work, chances are you need to stretch more often. Stretching improves circulation, relieves tension, and reduces stress. You should do some type of stretching exercise every day. Try these simple stretches: 1. Standing forward bend - Stand tall with your arms by your sides. Bend forward as far as you comfortably can without losing your balance. Hold for 30 seconds. 2. Side plank - Start standing sideways with your left foot slightly in front of your right foot. Place your hands on the floor next to your shoulders. Keep your torso upright and your head looking straight ahead. Raise your hips so that your body forms a straight line from your ankles to your shoulders. Hold for 30 seconds then switch sides. 3. Seated hamstring stretch - Sit on the edge of a chair with your legs extended in front of you. Cross your right ankle over your left knee. Lean back until you feel a comfortable stretch in your hamstrings. Hold for 30 seconds before switching sides.
Breathe Deeply In addition to stretching, you also need to breathe deeply. This will help oxygen flow into your muscles and keep them healthy. And when you breathe deeply, you'll naturally take deeper breaths. So try taking deep breaths throughout the day.
Move Frequently If you're sitting at work all day, you might feel like you're doing something wrong. But standing up every hour or so can actually improve your posture and make you more productive. You should stand up every 30 minutes or so to stretch out your legs and move around. These are some awesome ways to help strengthen your core.
