Our project was a youth exchange, where we were exploring the idea of smart city. We were looking for systems, ideas, we could implement in our own places. What is important, we were discussing the big things, but also searching for the small ones, which would be possible to realise. We were very creative, we discussed ideas aspect by aspect. We created a model of our dream city. At the beginning it was just a simple model, but later, going on and on, we made this city smart. In this publication we will share with you our ideas. Our project was funded by Erasmus+ programme.
What is smart city? A Smart city is an urban area that uses different types of electronic Internet of Things (IoT) sensors to collect data and then use insights gained from that data to manage assets, resources and services efficiently. This includes data collected from citizens, devices, and assets that is processed and analyzed to monitor and manage traffic and transportation systems, power plants, utilities, water supply networks, waste management, crime detection, information systems, schools, libraries, hospitals, and other community services. The Smart city concept integrates information and communication technology (ICT), and various physical devices connected to the IoT network to optimize the efficiency of city operations and services and connect to citizens.
Smart city technology allows city officials to interact directly with both community and city infrastructure and to monitor what is happening in the city and how the city is evolving. ICT is used to enhance quality, performance and interactivity of urban services, to reduce costs and resource consumption and to increase contact between citizens and government. Smart city applications are developed to manage urban flows and allow for real-time responses. A Smart city may therefore be more prepared to respond to challenges than one with a simple "transactional" relationship with its citizens. Yet, the term itself remains unclear to its specifics and therefore, open to many interpretations. *

OUR IDEAS I. SAFETY AND INFORMATION For us, the most important thing is safety. That's why we think that smart city should be a safe city. That's why we created these solutions:
*Smart system of information: we think that safety lies in information. In smart city we need special system which will tell people for. example. about accidents or weather, air condition. It should be connected with smartphones. *We created an idea of drones that would patrol the city. These would be autonomical and would gather information from all around the city. Would allert services in the case of emergency, and would have on board some equipement, for example: AED
DRONES ARE THE FUTURE
II. ECOLOGY Ecology for us is second important thing. Smart city should be helping environment. It can be done on various ways, starting with good public transportation, through ecological buildings that are using solar and wind power, finishing with constructions that actually clean air (like filter-buildings that already exist, f.e. Smog Free Tower we had in Poland). Smart city is also green! A lot of plants, trees, parks. We came up with these solutions:
*City council building in the center that has implemented technology, that cleans air. This building is using solar power. *Windmill farms that will produce energy for the whole city *Free public transportation that will allow people to get to various points in the city without the need of using their own cars.
Be SMART BE GREEN!
III ENTERTAINMENT Good place to live is a place where we can develop our passions, discover culture, have somewhere to spend time in nice way. That's why we believe that smart city needs a lot of facilities that aim at culture, sports. Smart city is a city full of restaurants, cinemas, theatres, clubs, culture houses, sport facilities. We created following ideas:
*All the facilities will be connected with one smartphone app, where we can put our preferences. Then the data would be analysed and we would have personalysed offer of entertainment just for us. Thanks to that we would know where we can find something useful for us. *All the facilities will be adjusted also to the needs of disabled people. It is very important for the facilities to be accessible for the disabled. With that we can fight with exclusion.
