Greetings. We are WP Frequencies
A collective of friends that was fused together by a shared love for music, passion for dancing and an impulse to play.
We are committed to promoting and supporting the creative talents of our community. Our mission is to create unforgettable experiences through music, visuals and other forms of artistic expression, fostering a culture of inclusivity, openness, and experimentation. We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to express themselves creatively without judgement or gatekeeping, and we are dedicated to creating a safe, cozy and welcoming space for everyone to do so. Whether through our parties, events, or collaborations with other artists, we aim to unite vibrations from across the spectrum into one collective resonance.
Our story
It was the strange time between lockdowns, in a cosy corner of Westerpark, where a portable soundsystem sent its blissful waves over a sunlit crowd. Some of us came already well experienced in organising raves - members of the collectives Activités en Forêt (NL) and All We Need Is Acid (FR). Others flourished as skillful selectors during the pandemic, bringing joy to the dancefloor with their favourite electronic music genres.
The frequencies of Westerpark resonated long after these gatherings, perpetuating themselves in a creative energy that would drive every one of us forward in a synchronised movement. We grew our network of artists, infused many places with our vibrations and attracted a wonderful crowd of like-minded people.
We have provided audio-visual stimulation at places like Bar Theo, Makers Unite and Treehouse NDSM, as well as many privately hosted events.
Sound
We pride ourselves in the rich variety of music that our DJs deliver to the dancefloor. Breaks, acid, techno, house, minimal, ambient, trance, EBM and bass music are only a few of the genres that circulate during our parties. We can curate a night with a consistent vibe or an eclectic amalgamation of experiences for everyone’s taste. All thanks to the versatility of our DJ network which continues to grow.
We are continuously pushing our music expertise to new levels through podcasts, mix series, live coding jams and various creative collaborations.
Light
We put great value in the visual component of our parties. The DJ sets are usually accompanied by projected images - generative visualisations and psychedelic video sequences, livemixed, live-coded or carefully curated in advance.
We believe in the role of a raver as an equal participant and not a sole spectator. Therefore we often implement interactive visual installations that enable everyone on the dancefloor to playfully engage with the optical feast. The sound of the music, the dance moves of the crowd, the play of curious ravers can all be reflected in images that complement the auditory experience.
Ideas
Our aim is to never limit ourselves in our ways of expression. Beside DJs and musicians, among our peers we also have designers, photographers, graphic artists, comedians, fieldrecording enthusiasts and many more. Our mission is to exist as an open experiment that invites talents of many kinds, sharing, expressing themselves, showcasing their work.
It is this kind of diversity which defines the rich spectrum of our frequencies.
