Greetings! The Inter-university Management Alliance (IMA), composed of the UP Association of Business Administration Majors, Ateneo Management Association, and DLSU Business Management Society, would like to extend an invitation to your organization to be one of our organization partners for the finale of our competition entitled FYI: Filipino Youth Innovation – The Inter-School Social Business Competition. The FYI Competition Finale will be held on April 1, 2012, 1-6:30pm, at the William Shaw Little Theatre in De La Salle University, Manila. The top ten finalists of the competition will be presenting their business ideas to angel investors during the event, and there will also be talks on entrepreneurship from GKonomics and Go Negosyo. This year’s FYI is the pilot event for the competition, and IMA is hoping to include more organizations and schools in next year’s event should we be successful this year. In this regard, please also treat this invitation to our competition finale as a chance for each of our organizations to explore the possibility of a partnership for next year’s FYI. COMPETITION OVERVIEW FYI: Filipino Youth Innovation is a business plan competition organized by the Inter-University Management Alliance, in partnership with GKonomics, between students of Ateneo de Manila University, De La Salle University – Manila, and University of the Philippines – Diliman. The competition aims to engage students in social entrepreneurship and make them consider it not only as a viable career option, but more importantly, a fulfilling and exciting choice.


The competition will challenge the participating teams to come up with a business that will give livelihood or be beneficial to Gawad Kalinga communities, and at the same time, will have market potential and sustainability. The top ten participating teams of the competition will get the chance to • pitch their business ideas to angel investors, • receive start-up capital from the Php500,000 prize money pool from angel investors, and • receive post-competition assistance and mentorship from GKonomics and angel investors Inter-university Management Alliance The Inter-university Management Alliance (IMA) is a group of student-run business organizations from UP, Ateneo, and La Salle, established on May 3, 2010. Target: 80-100 teams (3-5 members per team) Round 2: Elimination and Entrepreneurship Boot Camp (March 10-11) The top 25 semi-finalist teams will be required to attend the Entrepreneurship Boot Camp on March 10-11. The boot camp, which will have 100-150 students and mentors as attendees, aims to immerse the semi-finalists in GK communities, further develop their ideas, hone their entrepreneurial skills, and help them come up with their business plans. The entrepreneurship boot camp will consist of the following: o o

Day 1: immersion in GK communities Day 2: entrepreneurship workshop

By the end of the Day 2 Boot Camp, the top 25 teams will pitch their business ideas to a panel of judges. The panel will then select the top 10 teams who will make it to the finals. Finale: Entrepreneurship Summit and Business Plan Defense (March 31) On March 31, the teams will pitch their business plans in front of the angel investors and the audience. Aside from the top 10 teams’ business plan defense, there will also be entrepreneurship talks within the day. This event will be attended by 250-300 students and entrepreneurs.
