foreword Welcome to Interlude: Stories of Azeroth in Harmony! After two issues, our champions have rested and feasted; now they are ready to burst into song!

Why choose music as the theme for the third Interlude? It seems the natural subject for flowing into the War Within and the larger Worldsoul Saga. As Azeroth’s Radiant Song reached the hearts and minds of her children, we thought about how melody and harmony might connect and change our characters, for better or worse.

Fortuitously, this year marks Warcraft’s 30th anniversary and WoW’s 20th. By happy coincidence, to honor the occasion the community was treated to a full orchestral concert commemorating two decades of game score.

Listening to this medley brought to mind everything that is special about Warcraft’s music. It has always had a unique power to capture the imagination of players and elevate the stories told in game, whether part of the official lore or not.

Just as music can express emotions that words cannot, it also has the power to transport you back in time.

Pull up any piece of WoW soundtrack on Youtube and you’ll find comments waxing poetic on how they listened to these tracks as they embarked on adventures, made life-long friends, met their partners for the first time, learned to raid with their guild, spent time with family, crafted stories together with their community or... just got ganked in Stranglethorn Vale.

We hope these stories of harmony might remind you of your own memories of adventure... or even inspire you to go out and make new ones!

Buttart is a Brooklyn-based cartoonist who’s now been a part of the WoW artist and RP community for 15 years. She’s one of the hosts of the 10-year-running WoW RP event Stranglethorn Bonfire Bash, and she’s as thrilled as always to be part of Interlude with so many incredibly talented and tenacious creatives!

He’s been described as witty, earnest to a fault, great at doing silly voices, and a solid five stars on the friend record. Past work includes reviewing and creating short films for college, drawing as a hobby, and working as an editor on the previous Interlude anthologies.
