WESTERN MEDITERRANEAN ADVENTURE TO WEST MEDITERRANEAN
The Western Mediterranean is one of the most diverse cruise regions. The region includes the artistic meccas of Italy, France and Spain and Arabic culture in Morocco and Tunisia. The itinerary is ideal for art and history lovers who also wish to explore the region’s landmarks, beaches, cafes and boutique shops. This itinerary is focused on France to Italy. From the city of romance, culinary capital of the world to the chic, stylish culture and amazing architecture.
FRANCE TO ITALY DAY 1: Ajaccio, Corsica to Propriano
DAY 2: Propriano to Lavezzi Islands to Bonifacio
Upon your arrival at the airport, the captain and crew will bring you to your home away from home for the next two weeks! Ajaccio is probably most well known as the birthplace of Napoleon, and is situated on one of the most beautiful gulfs in the world. After a safety briefing we will make our way on a short cruise to Propriano where we can anchor in a beautiful sandy bay for an evening barbecue under the twilight sky. This large deep bay is sheltered from the prevailing westerly winds that will enable us to relax and enjoy our surroundings.
After breakfast we will cruise over to the beautiful island of Lavezzi where we can swim, snorkel and relax. Later this afternoon we will make our way to Bonifacio where you can explore this city and perhaps have dinner in one of the restaurants along the quayside and explore the ancient fortress. The city is split into two sections – the old town and the Haute Ville (upper city) that is built on the site of a citadel which overlooks the sea. The Citadel has been continually reconstructed and renovated over the years and is now a museum.
DAY 4: Porto Vecchio
DAY 5: Porto Vecchio - Santa Teresa di Gallura
Today we can stay in Porto Vecchio and continue to explore the history and culture this city has to offer. Perhaps a visit to Palombaggia beach is in order, as some describe this as the most beautiful beach in southern Corsica. Another little known fact is that Porto Vecchio is often called the City of Salt because it was built on dried salt marshes.
Santa Teresa is considered to be one of the most soughtafter tourist spots in northern Sardinia with beautiful beaches and unspoiled territory. There are numerous restaurants and bars in this small town along with an array of leisure activities. Neighboring Capo Testa is the most northern point of Sardinia with a rocky coast that has been shaped by the winds of time. An old lighthouse, overlooking Cala di Luna, casts its guiding light to the white cliffs that mark the entrance to the port of Bonifacio, Corsica. On a clear day it’s said you can see across to Corsica from here.
DAY 3: Bonifacio to Porto Vecchio Bonifacio is also known for buildings that appear to be coming out of the top of the cliffs and overlooking the sea. After breakfast we will make our way to Porto Vecchio to explore this vibrant town. A mixture of history along with an extensive array of restaurants and nightlife will offer something for everyone.

ADVENTURE TO WEST MEDITERRANEAN FRANCE TO ITALY DAY 6: Santa Teresa di Gallura - Maddalena Archipelago This morning we can make our way over to the Maddalena Archipelago and explore these beautiful islands, some of which are protected areas. We can bring out all the water toys and enjoy a swim in the sea and dinner under the stars this evening. This island chain is characterized by the pink sands, crystalline waters and series of coves and rocks of intense colors. Later, perhaps a visit to La Maddalena where avid divers can explore some of the most beautiful seabeds and Roman cargo shipwrecks. The Spiaggia Rosa (Pink Beach) is famous for the pink sand that is remnants from the shattered coral from the seas. La Maddalena is the only inhabited island in the archipelago, which also includes six others: Spargi, Razzoli, Budelli, Santa Maria, Caprera and Santo Stefano.
DAY 7: Maddalena Archipelago Too beautiful for one day, we will spend an extra day in crystal clear waters of the Maddalena Archipelago. This archipelago is a natural oasis, surrounded by a warm, turquoise sea perfect for snorkeling and diving. Visit La Maddalena take the tender and explore the one of the other six islands. Pristine, secluded beaches await on Spargi, enjoy a drink at the restaurant on Santa Maria, explore the granite rocks on Razzoli, or visit the famous Spaggia Rosa (Pink beach) on Budelli, take in the lush green landscape on Caprera. Maddalena Islands are a natural fit for travelers seeking heavenly beaches and a welcoming local community with beautiful seaside towns and cobbled streets with shops and cafes. English is more widely spoken here than almost anywhere else in Italy.
DAY 8: Porto Cervo This morning we will make our way over to Porto Cervo - heart of the Costa Smeralda (Emerald Coast) and see the emerald colored water. Porto Cervo is the center of active daily life on the Costa Smeralda and it’s easily the best place for shopping. Departing from here, you can relax on board while we cruise the coastline, after which golf enthusiasts can head to the 18-hole Pevero golf course. Other pursuits include spa treatments on board or at one of the five-star luxury resorts. Hotel Cala di Volpe and the bay itself is popular for lazy days that can be followed by late afternoon cocktails and shopping. Today we could also take a Ferrari on a tour of this island! The tour would usually start around 9.30am and finish around 6pm and include lunch in Santa Teresa di Gallura in one of the typical restaurants facing the sea.

DAY 10: Cala di Volpe/San Pantaleo
This morning we will make our way down to Cala di Volpe to explore some more and visit the famous Hotel Cala di Volpe.
If you were interested in visiting a quirky town set inland, then a visit to San Pantaleo is worth the trip. This village has an open-air market every Thursday centered in the quaint church square. Pink and red oleander trees provide shade for playing musicians while a kaleidoscopic display of produce and charming crafts if offered by local farmers and artisans. There is also a celebration to honor the Saint that takes place from the 27th to 30th July and includes a mixture of shows, dances and traditional music.
If you’re interested in golf, one of the greatest courses by American golf designer Robert Trent Jones is found between the sapphire bays of Pevero and Cala di Volpe called Pevero Golf Club. Several golf writers describe this course as ‘the most beautiful place to play golf in the world’.
DAY 11: Cala di Volpe to Portisco Today we with travel from Cala di Volpe to the idyllic coastal village of Portisco. A well-protected and organized harbor, Portisco is situated in the Gulf of Cugnana with many inviting little restaurants and excellent local facilities that provide for a relaxed holiday. Enjoy sweeping views of the Mediterranean Sea while exploring local café’s shops, and culinary delights or visit the beautiful beach of Portisco.

Porto Rotondo, a resort village just south of Porto Cervo, is best known for its private bijou beaches. Porto Rotondo is much more laid back, so for those who prefer to be unrecognized, this may be just the place. The central square, Piazzetta San Marco, is in the heart of the village and has many boutiques and bars.
Today we can have as a floating day where we can incorporate another day in one of the above destinations, perhaps the Maddalena Islands or make our way further south along the coast to the charming Cala Moresca, known for its golden sand beach with impressive cliffs and panoramic views of neighboring islands. With crystal clear waters and abundant sea life, this is a snorkeler’s dream and often considered the Caribbean of Italy and one of the best places to visit in Sardinia!
