Claire Hutchins has been practising yoga from the age of 16. She is a qualified Mini Me Yoga Ambassador sharing the benefits of doing kids yoga and mindfulness. She is a trained Cosmic Kids Yoga Teacher and completed the 27 hour Rainbow Kids Yoga training at pineapple studios in London. She is also a Story Massage Practitioner and uses this technique in her classes. She now runs weekly yoga classes at Addington Special Needs school in Reading. Combining music & yoga, she set up Chillax Kids in 2016.

Elk Burland has been a keen musician since the eighties, when he began playing the saxophone in groups and as a street musician. Since then, he has worked on all manner of projects and currently spends much of his time working as a sound engineer and producer. He also has a passion for personal development and the positive psychology movement, he trained as a councillor in 2007. Elk now runs Drum Happy where these two worlds meet and the therapeutic benefits of music are made accessible to all.

Sarah Salmon runs ‘Brilliant Beings’, founded in 2013. Since then Sarah has been enjoying offering lighthearted mindfulness sessions for wellbeing to children, their parents, carers and teachers in a variety of settings. Over time these wonderful children have taught Sarah that what they essentially need is to feel grounded and safe in this physical existence, and sessions have come to intuitively incorporate a mixture of elements including yoga, breath and sense awareness, relaxation techniques, creativity and self expression through craft, art and photography.

Peter Green is a seasoned handpan maker and player, a lifetime seasoned didgeridoo player and percussion performer. Claire will be teaching in the Children’s Area.

Rhythm Jam Workshops: Join us in a joyous, rhythmic romp, playing hand drums and percussion in an awesome rhythm jam! No prior knowledge or experience is necessary as we will briefly instruct you on how to hold and play the instruments, and empower you to channel your inner musician. Experience the buzz of creative collaboration in this relaxed, fun and invigorating session. There are few guarantees in this life, but we feel confident that you will leave happier than when you arrived. Instruments are provided.

‘Mindful Monkeys’: Playful activities to help us focus our attention in the present moment through our bodies, breath and the environment around us. Sarah will be teaching in the Children’s Area.

Peter Pan Handpans will be running live interactive workshops for all ages! No previous experience necessary.

CREATIVE KIDS

Join us in the family area - a truly magical opportunity for children and young people to learn about ‘Our World’ through yoga. We’re thrilled this year to be able to offer special yoga sessions for children, teens and families all led by our talented and creative yoga teachers. Throughout the weekend there’ll be opportunities to hear talks from Claire and Jyoti on how we can best support our children and teens. We also offer beautiful mindfulness workshops. Of course we must have glitter! There are Glitter Fairies on duty each morning, so pop by to get sparkled up! We can’t wait to inspire and inform, educate and enchant you and your families. It’s never too early to introduce children to the wonderful world of yoga!

All classes and workshops are open to all ages! Creative Kids Willow Sculpture Workshops Children and parents create willow fishing rod lanterns that light up at night. We are also hoping to make a larger storytelling den throughout the weekend.

Creative Kids Shadow Puppets Children are inspired by an authentic Cambodian Puppet Show and are shown how the puppets are operated. Enjoy a story circle using instant theatre techniques, then children go on to create basic shadow puppets and scenery. They later rehearse and perform their work to parents and festival audiences. It is quite a spectacle to see and the stories the children create are most entertaining!
