Rupert Spira was deeply interested in the nature of reality from an early age. At the age of seventeen he learnt to meditate, and began studying and practicing the teachings of the classical Advaita Vedanta tradition under the guidance of Dr. Francis Roles and Shantananda Saraswati, the Shankaracharya of the north of India, which he continued for the next twenty years. During this time he immersed himself in the teachings of P.D.Ouspensky, Krishnamurti, Rumi, Ramana Maharshi, Nisargadatta and Robert Adams, until he met his teacher, Francis Lucille, in 1997. Francis introduced Rupert to the Direct Path teachings of Atmanada Krishnamenon; Jean Klein and the tantric tradition of Kashmir Shaivism; and, more importantly, directly indicated to him the true nature of experience.

Meditations followed by Q&A sessions.

As we emerge from “lockdown”, for many the most traumatic time in living memory, with all of us knowing someone who passed away recently, it may be the best time to reflect upon, to explore some practices and to re-acquaint ourselves with this inevitable transition, from the eyes of Yogis.

His aim is to bring a deeper understanding that allows the practitioner to explore their own responses to the practice and develop greater awareness.

Ram Banerjee is a Meditation and Vedanta teacher from the Arsha Vidya tradition who, since 2010, has run a weekly meditation and Advaita Vedanta group and provides regular talks and guided meditations to yoga gatherings.

Recognising his ability to acquire and convey knowledge as well as achievements to date, Ram was honoured in July 2018 with the title of Arsha Vidya Yogashree by Swami Santatmananda, the resident head of teaching at the Swami Dayananda Ashram in Rishikesh, India. ‘From Duality to non-Duality’: Advaita as in Advaita Vedanta means ‘not-two’ meaning that there is no second thing, there is only one all-pervading pure consciousness called Brahman. How can this be? Surely, we exist in the world as separate objects interacting with one another. How can this dualistic experience of matter and consciousness ever be considered just one all-pervading thing?

Through a series of 3 talks, Ram will unfold the nature of reality according to Advaita Vedanta explaining how our dualistic, visible and tangible experience that we call life, is unreal, while a single, invisible and intangible existence is the only true underlying reality.

Chakra Meditation: Yoga is essentially based on the seven-chakra system that lies along the spine, from the base to the crown of the head, and each of these chakra points is responsible for the organs and gland’s healthiness in its region. Meditation class.

Sessions with Michael Hutchinson. ‘Energy, Axis, Synergy’ – postures, breathwork and chanting: When we think of Yoga, we think about bending the body into āsana-s and sitting upright for prānāyāma, chanting and meditation. Our sessions will include all of these, however, the key to all of them is the breath. It’s the way we focus the inbreath, start the outbreath and, as Srī Desikachar put it, “sense and feel the movement of the breath within”. You will be led through Srī Desikachar’s many ways of moving with your breath, ways you may not have considered, ways which can improve both movement and stability in your spine. We want to help you move freely and joyfully and sit comfortably, peacefully and still.
