Flick, 57, took charge of his nation in August of last year after a two year stint at Bayern Munich, during which he won two Bundesliga championships, the DFB Cup, the UEFA Super Cup, the FIFA World Cup, and the UEFA Champions League medals. Flick handled his time on the international stage admirably, as one would expect from a coach who guided Bayern to an unparalleled sextuple.

Gosens now has a slight advantage over Günter for the first reserve left back spot, but that could change in the coming weeks as Günter continues to thrive for Freiburg in the Bundesliga and Europa League. At the same time, Gosens' playing time at Inter is restricted.
Maximilian Arnold of Wolfsburg is a dependable choice and a left footer. However, he is slightly more defensive minded than Goretzka, who struggled with injuries in early 2022 2023. Goretzka is a high caliber alternative for center midfield. Once more, Flick has many options when playing in the attacking third. Before the Nations League match against England, he singled out Musiala for appreciation and praised the 19 year growth old's over the previous few years.
The tactician claimed that the first time he worked out with Bayern's first squad, it was clear how brilliant he was. "His development has been excellent, and he excels in confined quarters. He is an excellent dribbler and has a beautiful sense of space. He wins a lot of balls for us and is an excellent defender. I'm glad he represents Germany.
Under Flick, Musiala has typically been the initial attacking replacement, though Havertz and Marco Reus might disagree in Qatar. The latter, who is now out for a few weeks due to an injury suffered against Schalke on Match day 7, will be eager to get going. And everyone recalls how he was injured just before leaving for Brazil, missing the 2014 victory. Werner faces a different threat up front from Lukas Nmecha.
