Since childhood, I have been fascinated by the arts. It started as a hobby and became a joy. After graduating from high school, I enrolled at Virginia Commonwealth University, which had recently been established by the Qatar Foundation. I could not miss the opportunity to receive a world-class art

How did you get involved with the Official Poster project?

The Supreme Committee for Delivery & Legacy has contacted local artists who offer the opportunity to participate in World Cup programs. I was very happy to participate and left my mark at the first World Cup in our region. I found out about the project during the epidemic - so I used the free time I had to plan and come up with a unique idea. I am very proud to have played a small part in this tournament.

Talk to us about the inspiration behind the Official Poster. My main inspiration was the idea of collective memory. Most of my work focuses on past experiences, and memories, associating with the present and archiving the present. I wanted the posters to follow this article and tell the story of Qatar football culture.

I wanted each poster to show the celebration and popularity of football in Qatar. The main poster shows the ghutra and egal ordinary headwear moving in the air in a celebratory manner which fans do here when the goal is scored. In another poster, we see two sisters cheering for their brother as he kicks the ball in the air skillfully showing that Qatar football unites the whole family.

How does it feel, as a Qatari artist, to participate in the first FIFA World Cup project in the Middle East and the Arab world?

The feeling is indescribable. I feel like I represent all Qatari and all Arabs. I am proud to leave my mark on this amazing event in the history of my country. Being able to work on a FIFA World Cup project still seems to be a daunting task. I hope I can represent my country in the best possible way.

How do you hope people will recognize and interpret your artwork?

I hope the posters will fit the people of Qatar, regionally and internationally. I hope the fans will approve the project and it contributes to the success of the entire tournament. I spent almost two years on the project, so I hope the fans can see the effort I am putting into it. I hope the audience understands the messages I am trying to convey.

How do you define the relationship between art and sports?

The arts and sports have a very strong relationship. Art in all its forms is integrated into the various aspects of sports, be it music, songs, styles, and costumes. Athletic movement is another form of art and this is something I have tried to show on posters.

How would you feel if you were spotted by football fans all over the world?

I will be very happy and excited when the posters are displayed in public. But most importantly, I hope they will get along with local and foreign fans.
