Football World Cup: QBS boosts the power of mobile blood donation units Hamad Medical Corporation’s Qatar Blood Services (QBS) has enhanced the ability of mobile blood contribution units to meet the growing demand for blood and blood goods and in the planning of Football World Cup 2022, told a senior official.

QBS has included three new mobile blood contribution units which are well-equipped and have more power to collect and store blood. Specified Executive Director, Transfusion Medicine Division, Department of Laboratory Medicine, and Pathology at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC), Dr. Aysha Ibrahim Al Malki, while talking to The Peninsula. QBS is the sole person for the collection and supply of blood and blood goods for all hospitals and healthcare hospitals in Qatar. At present QBS has five mobile donor groups.

“With the growing need for blood and blood goods and in the planning of Football World Cup in Qatar 2022, QBS has included three new mobile donor cars that are equipped with state-of-the-art gear, and power to host a bigger number of donors,” told Dr. Al Malki.
