BETTER Build
Drilling wells, mitigating and responding to disasters, and creating affordable energy helps communities build bright, sustainable futures for themselves. When a student drinks clean water, she stays in school longer, graduates with stronger skills, and discovers better job opportunities. By building better, stable families create strong villages. With your help, we can build better in five core countries: Cambodia, the Philippines, Liberia, Sierra Leone, and Haiti. Your support will create new paths out of the cycle of poverty and into a hopeful future.
Examples of Opportunities to Build Better
$535,000 will furnish our 6x6 trucks with well-drilling equipment in Sierra Leone. This equipment will speed up the drilling process, bringing needed relief to parched communities. $300,000 will provide clean water and energy to 7 new communities (8,700 persons) in the remote Loma Mountains National Park in Sierra Leone. This project will also empower communities to adapt new, affordable climate change programs. $60,000 will provide a sustainable clean water solution to 3,000 people in urban slums of Monrovia, Liberia. This solution uses an automated teller machine (ATM) to dispense water to users, limiting water contamination and waste.

In many countries, women and children are the first to suffer and the last to be heard. Where others stigmatize and misunderstand, we listen and encourage.
Providing access to quality, affordable healthcare — especially to children and mothers — helps promote human dignity, and improve the well-being of women, children, and entire families. Your generosity today will help build health, growth, and opportunity through relationship-based community programs. These programs offer real hope for lasting change.
Examples of Opportunities to Heal Together
$3M will build a new blood bank, outpatient facility, pharmacy, and chapel for the La Gonâve Wesleyen Hospital in Haiti. These initiatives will double the hospital’s capacity to serve in impoverished areas.
$500,000 will leverage $12M in medicine and surgical supplies to clinics in Haiti, Sierra Leone, and Liberia.
$200,000 will provide lifesaving interventions for pregnant women and newborns in Sierra Leone through our Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) program. $100,000 will help us reach 20,000 women with preventive cervical cancer screenings. $1.5M will support the first cohort of physical therapists in Sierra Leone. Once equipped, these newly trained students will provide much-needed physical therapy services throughout the country.

By strengthening civil society and building access to quality education for the vulnerable, those who violate basic human rights are thwarted. Examples of Opportunities to Stand with Each Other
$225,000 will provide community-based aftercare, recovery, and reintegration services to persons from Liberia trafficked to the Middle East.
$382,000 will expand broadcasting range and regional programming to Radio Fry Fry, extending the reach by two million listeners across Sierra Leone.
$100,000 will strengthen the capacity of our local church partners in Cambodia, equipping them to fight human trafficking and sexual violence in their communities.
$850,000 will provide aftercare services to 400 survivors of human trafficking by bolstering holistic care within the WHI Recovery Centre in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
$250,000 will improve therapeutic care for survivors of Online Sexual Exploitation of Children (OSEC) in the Philippines through specialized training for caregivers, and increased provision for survivors.
